I like to listen to these books to pick up a new idea or two , but this one was awful. It came off like the pretzel wagon guy from the Simpsons giving you dumb advice on how to throw a ticker tape parade. “Got an extra empty toilet paper roll? Wrap extension cords around it!” “Milk crate? More like box for shoes!”
Very quick read. Listened to it on a walk via audiobook. The author has 3-4 books on organization and this felt a little like a punt. Pretty thin on ideas, very thin on size, pretty thin overall. My best declutter idea gleaned is to get rid of this book.
If you have never read a decluttering book then this is a good start. Short, pithy, and full of basic advice. For a brief overview of how to declutter, and potentially some minor steps you can take to organize things this is a decent book. There are other, longer, books that I have previously reviewed that I would recommend before this one. If you just want a super short jumping off point, then check this book out.
decluttering book -- This review is for the Audible version
Extremely short book that assumes that everyone wants to hide or get rid of all of their possessions. This is only one organizing style and makes many people uncomfortable. Not everyone can be Marie Kondo.
Narrator is very stilted, but this may have been the writing style. The book sounded like a series of lists with short commentary.
There are a lot of decent pointers in this book, but many of the pointers involve buying more stuff, which I don't think is the best advice for people who need to discard their belongings. I think that "Goodbye, Things" by Fumio Sasaki is a better book on decluttering and minimalism.
Okay ideas on organization, but not really on how to declutter (other than the initial 3 areas to set up). Was more about making room for your clutter than getting rid of it.
