Naves Topical Bible is the classic topical Bible that features 100,000 Bible passages organized under more than 20,000 topics. A favorite for over eighty years, Naves Topical Bible is an indispensable tool for serious study of the Scriptures. Includes Fan-Tab Thumb-Index Reference System.
Billy Graham says, Outside of the Bible this is the book I depend on more than any other.
Orville James Nave was an army chaplain who sought to produce an exhaustive classification of all the topics in the King James Version of the Bible. The first Nave's Topical Bible was the result of fourteen years of study by Nave, with the assistance of his wife Anna. Nave worked for the last twenty years of his life on various revisions of the work.
This book is helpful if you like to look into a particular topic. You can look up the topic then it gives you all verses that mention that. I find it most helpful when used with Strong’s Concordance, available online for free.
I would not describe this as a Bible so much as a dictionary. It takes all the major nouns of the Bible and give a break down of the who, what, where, when and how of it all. It's definitely a must for any preacher's library.
Whether you are young or old, sometimes finding the exact scripture we need can be a challenge. This book lists almost everything in alphebetical order. A must for all serious Bible Students.
From my personal library this is simply put the best resource a pastor or teacher could have in finding references in the Bible regarding an astonishing number of topics listed in alphabetical order (more than 20,000 topics and subtopics, and 100,000 references to the Scriptures). My copy of this 1,615-page resource tool is in very good condition. The paper weight is fairly thin though but has held together nicely just because I have not used it like I should have over the years. What makes it so valuable even today is it contains the Bible references and the actual scripture related to the topics listed in the book. At the end is a very helpful listing or cross reference of all the scriptures contained in this book. For example, under Heaven there are at least 4 subcategories with several pages of references. This needs to find a home of somebody that will use it even though I am sure you can find resources similar or exactly like this online.
This is a fantastic research tool. In paper form this would easily receive 5 stars. This Kindle version needs a revamp. I don't like having to goto the first letter of the alphabet and literally scroll through pages and pages to find what I am looking for. There should be a better way, either by search method or a better Table of Contents.
this is a really good bible study reference book. this is an incredible reference and Helps to locate all the scriptures on a certain subject which helps you in the long run. it is so full of information on any subject. let us say you want to look up "intercessory prayer" Here it says to see intercession, instances of, solicited, instances of, answered. that is one example of looking up a word.
there are so many very helpful words. according to the front cover, there are 20,000 topics and sub-topics with more than 100,000 associated scripture references.
One day while reading this Bible I asked myself, "Why didn't God inspire the Bible this way? Why are all the subjects mixed up among narrative, poetry, and all that other stuff?" Exploring the answer to that questions has opened up the whole world of the Bible to me.
