General Kenobi's clone army is sent on a diversionary mission to distract a massive Separatist army long enough for newly knighted Jedi Tohno to infiltrate a droid factory and destroy it. The key to the mission is to attract the Separatist's attention without actually engaging them in combat. But Anakin feels that he witnessed the sacrifice of enough young Jedi during the disastrous mission to Jabiim, and he can't stand the prospect of another one. Can Anakin learn to put the Republic's objectives ahead of his own feelings, or will his misguided heroism jeopardize the lives of thousands in order to save one? And what about Master Tohno? Doesn't she have a say about her own part of the mission?
Obi Wan and Anakin on a mission along with a young Jedi who you can tell from the get-go how it's going to go down up until the very end. Great artwork that it had a bit too much influence from Tolkien, from the way the female Jedi was dressed to the surroundings and the planet the Jedi were in for that mission.
A nice but obvious ending to the story. Unfortunately, we don't get to know what's up with Quinlan Vos; I guess in the future issues we'll get some closure?! Oh well..
Much like the old war comics from EC and DC, this series is a lot of one-issue stories that focus on the hazards and traumas of the Clone Wars. Unlike a lot of those old series, however, this title has recurring characters such as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
This issue features Anakin learning about self-sacrifice. Anakin, as usual, does not want to follow orders, but eventually figures out why sometimes that is more important than doing what you believe is the right thing to do.
John Ostrander was not the writer on this one, but this series lends itself to having different writers and tone shifts.
