This Author is one of my favorites. She writes with the emotions bouncing off the pages. I read this book first and I am reading backwards which is ok because her writing works either way. This is a very hot sexy read.

Bellissima e intricata storia d'amore, intensa e sexy.
I dialoghi favolosi, molto frizzanti non ci si annoia mai. Devo dire che questo libro è il mio preferito dei 3 😍
Anche se alcune situazione rimarranno in sospeso, ma si chiareranno nel prossimo libro che parlerà di Ash. Quindi aspetto con ansia di leggerlo.

Durante la lettura dei precedenti libri della serie è salita alle stelle la curiosità su due personaggi particolari: Sawyer e Ashton, i migliori amici da una vita che fanno tutto insieme, hanno un legame particolare e profondo che porta chiunque li conosca a pensare che il sentimento che li lega sia molto più di una semplice amicizia. Sinceramente fino all'ultimo anch'io ci ho sperato e ho fatto mille congetture ed ipotesi ma la verità è molto più complicata e durante la lettura di questa storia ne coglieremo delle parti, avremo delle rivelazioni ma non sarà tutto limpido e chiarificatore, forse perché l'autrice aspetta la storia di Ashton per chiudere definitivamente il cerchio sul passato comune e i segreti di questa coppia di amici fraterni. Sawyer lo conosciamo, è ricco e sfacciato, ama il sesso, le donne e divertirsi ma è colui che si prende cura delle persone a cui tiene, difende e protegge i suoi amici. Sawyer ha una vita manipolata da un padre che dire pessimo è un eufemismo, non è libero nelle sue scelte e stoicamente indossa una maschera per andare avanti impassibile. Dall'inizio della narrazione vediamo il suo passato e il rapporto familiare teso, conosciamo il suo primo amore non corrisposto e l'incontro con Asher che prenderà sotto la sua ala protettiva e diventerà come un fratello, iniziamo ad intravedere ed intuire cosa lì ha portati ad oggi a vivere una situazione di distacco che fa soffrire entrambi. Conosciamo Shelley e perché tra lei e Sawyer volino sempre scintille, perché non si sopportano e si punzecchiano di continuo fino ad arrivare alla resa dei conti che porterà una svolta nel loro rapporto. I punti di vista alternati sono principalmente quelli dei due protagonisti con a tratti il punto di vista di Ashton che mi ha fatto davvero tanta tenerezza e non vedo l'ora di leggere la sua storia. Sawyer viene caratterizzato nei suoi pregi e tanto nei suoi difetti: si diverte e si sballa, divide le sue conquiste con Ash in sessioni di sesso a tre - questo però badate bene per un motivo ben preciso che va oltre il semplice divertimento a tre. Vediamo il ragazzo tormentato dietro la maschera, i suoi bisogni e aspirazioni di libertà, ma soprattutto il suo cuore. Shelley è giovane e caparbia, un caratterino che non permette di farsi mettere i piedi in testa da nessuno, ma in realtà ha dei seri problemi di fiducia in se stessa e un'immagine totalmente distorta di sé stessa. Sinceramente nonostante i suoi problemi e insicurezze qualcosa non mi ha fatto empatizzare con questo personaggio. Conosciamo un po' più Ashton, questo ragazzo riservato e silenzioso che si porta dietro un background drammatico, il suo cuore e la sua sicurezza sono nelle mani di Sawyer ma è arrivato per lui il momento di staccarsi dalla sua roccia e prendere in mano la sua vita. In un turbinio di eventi i nostri protagonisti troveranno la loro strada, l'amicizia non basterà più e la passione prenderà il sopravvento, rivelazioni e conflitti verranno alla luce per poi essere risolti grazie all'affetto. Tanti temi seri e importanti aleggiano nella storia per poi venire sorvolati e sorpassati a beneficio della storia romantica. In questa volta ho trovato la narrazione un po' contorta e a tratti troppo ermetica per i miei gusti, non solo nelle riflessioni ma anche nei dialoghi e nelle interazioni tra loro c'era sempre quel velo di non detto e non chiaro, forse per questo non sono riuscita a godermela appieno. La svolta che cambia il registro della narrazione l'ho trovata un po' forzata ed innaturale ma probabilmente perché ero troppo concentrata sull'amicizia tra Sawyer e Ash ed i loro segreti piuttosto che sulla storia d'amore; tuttavia è una bella storia che regala emozioni e piccoli colpi al cuore, dolcezza e passione...

Five Steamy Hearts
How could I not love this book? First, it's part of the Chasing Butterflies series, which I adore. This is a stand alone so you don't need to read the other 2 books so feel free to grab this one. (Once you do though, you'll want to go back and get the other two--just sayin.) PLUS, it has everything I love in a great story ... the perfect amount of tension, characters you love but sometimes want to thrash, and a plot with the right amount of twists that keep you guessing. Oh and did I mention heat between the characters? Yeah, it has that too. There's also a love triangle--which I'm not generally a fan of, but it totally works in this book. There's a threesome scene and it was HAF too. In fact, I wish there had been another one, LOL. I'm not a fan of giving anything up in my reviews so if you want to find out more, you'll just have to read the book. There is some M/M rom in it so if that's a hard limit, beware. But Sawyer is my new book boyfriend and I'll just leave it at that.

This is the 3rd book in the "Chasing Butterflies" series, and while each subsequent book builds on the characters and relationships in the ones before, each can be enjoyed as a standalone too.
I anxiously awaited the next installment in this storyline. It feels like you're coming home to characters you already love and are invested in, and then you get to peek inside even more and peel back the layers. It's a reading snowball that I'm happy to be part of and Terri did not disappoint.
This book finds us learning more about Sawyer, Ashton and Shelly. Chance and Brie are woven in, with a little Kelley and Lenora also. I really didn't know how this was going to play out with Sawyer having already gotten a glimpse of him in the previous books. Yes, he is from a privileged background but he has hangups like we all do, money doesn't erase our insecurities, it just gives those privileged few more opportunities to mask it behind pretty facades.
Without giving anything away, we see each of the main characters work through some issues while gaining strength too. I love the relationship between Sawyer and Ashton and the details in the backstory were well-thought out and delivered. Shelly is a little spitfire with her own issues that she must learn to deal with also. I love the zingers and dialogue between Sawyer and Shelly. Ashton is a man of few words comparatively but he feels deeply and supports those he cares for. I honestly wasn't sure how this was going to play itself out but thoroughly enjoyed following along.

So let me start by saying that I liked Changing Hearts by Terri E Laine, but it definitely isn’t my favorite book by this author. I was both excited and nervous to read this book. I loved the first two books in this series….Chasing Butterflies and Catching Fireflies so I was hoping this book was going to be just as good. I was also nervous from reading the blurb and I should’ve listened to my gut when deciding to read this book.
This book had one of my hard limits when it comes to books….Love Triangle. But this wasn’t your ordinary triangle, I can’t say more because you need to read the story to see what I mean. I will also warn readers that if you don’t like threesomes in your books, then this isn’t the read for you. There are MFM scenes that are pretty descriptive.
I have to be honest and say that this book is the reason I’m not a huge fan of the college romance. Sawyer was everything I don’t like to see in my Heroes. He came off as quite immature in this story and he took player to a whole other level. I just couldn’t connect with his character like I wanted to. I didn’t have better luck when it came to the heroine Shelly either. I didn’t like the games these two played throughout the whole story and then when it came time for them to get together it didn’t seem believable.
Now let me tell you what I did like….I loved the writing style of the author. Her books always suck me in and this story did that but I was rolling my eyes quite a lot. Normally this would’ve been a DNF for me but because I love the writing of the author, I kept reading and held out hope it would get better. I liked that we got to see Brie, Chance, Kelley and Lenora again in this story. No you don’t have to read their books to follow this story line. Although I would suggest reading Catching Fireflies first because we meet Shelly and Sawyer in that book and it will give you a good backdrop for their story.
I know this review sounds like I didn’t like the book, but I did, it just didn’t WOW me like the others in this series. I truly feel this book is meant for a certain type of reader. Not everyone will like this book.
If you are a fan of the college romance story that has a lot of angst and drama and you don’t mind the Hero being a player then this is the book for you.

3.5 stars..... I voluntarily accepted an advanced reader copy of this book.
First, I'm a fan of this series and I was so looking forward to this book because I wanted to know more about Sawyer and Ashton BUT I didn't expect Shelly to be the heroine and I'm sorry I wish it wasn't her. I just couldn't get into her especially after seeing how she was in the first two books. And even in this book she still wasn't completely real. She did have issues which I felt sorry for her from time to time but I don't think she has changed much.
Sawyer on the other hand I loved along with Ashton. This book showed what I already suspected that Sawyer has a heart of gold and some of the things he does is to cover up how he really is. His relationship with Ash is just wow. That's real friendship. They were both privileged kids but with so many problems that they tried to hide from others. I loved the past and present of Sawyer and the little input of Ashton. This book shows you a side of Sawyer that was unexpected and my heart went out to him.
However, I don't think this book answered many questions and I'll assume Book 4 is about Ashton and I think I know who the heroine will be but I won't spoil it. Liked seeking Chance and Brie and a little bit of Lenora.

Changing Hearts was one emotional read. At some points throughout the story I felt like my heart was going to bust out of my chest. Although this wasn't my favorite book by Terri. E. Laine, it was still worth reading.
After reading Catching Fireflies I was very intrigued by Sawyer and Ashton. I wanted to know more about them and how their story would play out. Adding Shelly into the mix made things all the more interesting for me. Shelly for me however was a character I loved to hate. In my eyes she was somewhat cold and distant. I know that certain circumstances and trust issues made her the way she was but I still wanted her to thaw out faster than she did. I just couldn't relate to her character.
Sawyer and Ashton had a very unique relationship. They were more than best friends. They were each other's rocks. They were each other's confidantes. They were brothers in every sense of the word. I was weirded out by Sawyer/Shelly/Ash's dynamic. I know it's a "normal" thing these days, but I've never read a book with Changing Hearts' crazy plot twists. I was emotional. I went from happy to sad in about 3 seconds flat. I felt like I was in an emotional Nascar race. I loved the first 2 books in the series, however Changing Hearts was not my cup of tea. She really took me out of my comfort zone and into the twilight zone. I usually love college romance books. I just couldn't get onboard with Changing Hearts.

I honestly had no idea what direction this book was going to take me, but I didn't care I just wanted to go for the ride. I loved it! I found it unique and I was trying to imagine how things were going play out. I was happy how they did, but I really really need to read the next book now.

This was another great read by Terri! There are crossover characters in Chasing Butterflies and Catching Fireflies which can be read before Changing Hearts, but I don't think it's necessary.
Sawyer, Ashton and Shelly are the focus of this love story. Sawyer and Shelley spent a night together their freshman year of college, but Shelly is quick to dismiss Sawyer and asks that he doesn't contact her again. Fast forward a few years in college and their paths cross again. The two engage in a very funny, back and forth banter with one another. Shelly can't stand Sawyer and doesn't hold back letting him know it. Sawyer is his full of himself and has no shame about being popular with the ladies.
As time goes on Shelly starts to see a caring side of Sawyer that only Ashton has seen. The two guys are still very close, but soon there is tension between them because of the time Sawyer spends with Shelly.

I really loved this story. It was so heartfelt and touching. I was engrossed in the characters, their backgrounds, their different upbringings. Yet, the ways they could all relate and support one another.
This was one of my favorite books by Terri. I really hope we get to hear more about Ashton in another book. Terri has a great list of books to choose from, I would recommend adding this to TBR!
Sawyer, Ashton and Shelly are the focus of this love story. Sawyer and Shelley spent a night together their freshman year of college, but Shelly is quick to dismiss Sawyer and asks that he doesn't contact her again. Fast forward a few years in college and their paths cross again. The two engage in a very funny, back and forth banter with one another. Shelly can't stand Sawyer and doesn't hold back letting him know it. Sawyer is his full of himself and has no shame about being popular with the ladies.
As time goes on Shelly starts to see a caring side of Sawyer that only Ashton has seen. The two guys are still very close, but soon there is tension between them because of the time Sawyer spends with Shelly.

I have been waiting for Sawyer's book in the Chase Butterflies series and I was not disappointed. What I enjoyed is that the story is more than just Sawyer's but we get more insight on Ashton and Sawyer's relationship, with Shelly added to the mix the story takes off.
Ms Laine shows us a side of these characters that is not always pretty but explains more about who Sawyer, Ashton and Shelly are but at the end of the day this is Sawyer and Shelly's romance and story, with hints of what Ashton is going through within the story. The dialog between the characters is smart and witty while the triple POV's was a must and written so well with each character's distinct voice. We do get glimpses of Chance and Brie and Lenore makes a cameo (we don't see Kelley but know what he is up to) which I loved. Of course, there needs to be Ashton's book and I for one cant wait to get his full history.
This is a standalone though I do recommend reading the first 2 books in the series to get the complete story. Inseguendo il cuore è una romanzo diverso dai precedenti non solo per le tematiche trattate dopo la violenza sulle donne l’abbandono di un figlio, la Laine, affronta anche un tema delicatissimo come quello del l’anoressia. Un tema ahimè molto in voga in questo periodo tra i ragazzi ma che l’autrice affronta in modo molto delicato da non risultare pesante per il lettore. Un libro pieno di scene hot non volgari. Mi fa impazzire il fatto che all’inizio si ha uno scorcio di cosa sta accadendo nel presente e poi si passa immediatamente al passato per farci comprendere al meglio la situazione dei personaggi. Mi è piaciuto moltissimo ma non mi ha fatto impazzire, lo consiglio a chi ha letto i libri precedenti e vuole conoscere meglio Sawyer. Lo stile dell’autrice coinvolge il lettore e lo trasporta nel suo libro, dove si ha la sensazione di affiancare i personaggi durante il loro cammino fatto di sbagli e senso del dovere.

È dal primo volume che questo personaggio mi ha fatto salire
i nervi a fior di pelle con il suo atteggiamento presuntuoso, arrogante e
donnaiolo apparendo superficiale, grezzo e addirittura antipatico. Ormai ho
imparato a conoscere la Laine e so che con lei non si può dar nulla per
scontato!
Sawyer Cargill è un giocatore di football ed è il migliore
amico di Chance, Kelly ed Ashton. I fantastici quattro protagonisti della serie,
i ragazzi più belli dell’università e desideri proibiti di tutte le studentesse. Dopo
aver concluso la storia di Kelly e Chance, adesso è toccato proprio a lui, l’insensibile
e il carismatico, lo sciupa femmine per eccellenza. Eh sì cari lettori, Sawyer porta
esattamente questa nominata perché ama portarsi a letto le donne e condividerle
con il suo migliore amico Ashton. E quando parlo di condividere, intendo contemporaneamente,
nello stesso momento. Non ho mai pensato però che Sawyer fosse solo questo e ho sperato che dietro quella maschera di indifferenza, ci fosse un cuore morbido
ed un uomo intelligente e sono felice di dirvi che così è stato.
Perché ci avevo messo tanto tempo per provarci?
Sapevo già che mi avrebbe sempre rimesso al mio posto se avesse pensato
che fossi andato troppo oltre. Ne avevo bisogno. Avevo bisogno di
qualcuno a cui importasse abbastanza di me da non permettermi di mandare
tutto a puttane. Avevo bisogno di lei.
La sua famiglia è la sua
più grande debolezza e per paura di deludere il suo tiranno padre fa tutto
quello che gli viene detto, privando sé stesso di inseguire il suo cuore. Cambierete
idea sul suo conto e proverete emozioni contrastanti nei suoi confronti. Mentre
sfogliavo le pagine in tanti momenti avrei voluto prendere a pugni chiunque non
gli permettesse di vivere come avrebbe voluto: a volte avrei voluto strozzarlo
per la sua testardaggine e la sua arroganza; altre volte ancora avrei voluto
abbracciarlo perché in quegli occhi verdi e in quelle parole non dette ho letto
tanta tristezza, tanta sensibilità e segreti nascosti difficili da buttar
fuori. Un omone grosso e imponente che porta con sé le cicatrici del suo
passato che racchiudono tutta la sua fragilità.
Dobbiamo ringraziare Shelly per averci regalato questo lato
di Sawyer perché sarà proprio grazie a lei che uscirà il suo lato migliore. Entrambi
hanno un passato alle spalle, quell’unica notte di fuoco vissuta anni fa non è
mai stata dimenticata da parte di entrambi, ma è possibile provare ad essere
amici nonostante quell’accaduto? E se il tempo riportasse a galla di nuovo i
sentimenti?
«Dovresti sorridere più spesso.» Lei alzò lo sguardo e io capii che mi ero spinto troppo oltre, perchè vidi le sue barriere che cominciavano a rialzarsi.
«Riequilibrerà la tua espressione sempre accigliata evitando che ti vengano le rughe.» Mi spinse via, ridacchiando. Ma c'era stato un momento; lo avevo sentito. Una piccola breccia che si era formata nella sua corazza.
Shelly forse è la protagonista femminile che mi è piaciuta
meno ma nonostante ciò ho adorato alcuni lati del suo carattere. È una ragazza
testarda, determinata, pronta a farsi rispettare da chiunque le metta i bastoni
fra le ruote, ma anche lei ha la sua buona dose di problemi che non riesce a risolvere. Mi
hanno intenerita i suoi complessi sul suo aspetto fisico, sul giudizio delle persone e
la sua insicurezza disarmante. Ad oggi il problema dell’anoressia è un tema
molto importante e delicato che però in questo libro non è stato ben
sviluppato, ma trattato in maniera superficiale. Forse per paura di suscitare
scalpori o per evitare di addentrarsi in vie pericolose, sta di fatto che la
psicologia del personaggio mi è sembrata banale proprio per questo, per aver
evitato di scavare a fondo nella protagonista femminile. È un po’ come lanciare
la pietra e tirare indietro la mano. Mancanza di coraggio? Chissà!
Comunque sia, i battibecchi di Sawyer e Shelly, l’odio e
l’incompatibilità caratteriale vi faranno sbellicare dalle risate; i botta e risposta,
le battute sconce di Sawyer e le risposte a tono di Shelly saranno il fulcro
principale che darà vita ad una iniziale profonda amicizia, fino a far perdere di
vista l’obiettivo di entrambi, di evitare l’inevitabile.
Non ero un premio e non volevo essere trattata come tale. Ma c'era Sawyer, e qualcosa nel modo in cui i suoi occhi stavano divorando ogni centimetro del mio corpo mi faceva sentire vulnerabile.
A differenza degli altri libri, questo non sarà diviso in
passato e presente, ma tutto verrà vissuto nel periodo dopo la fine del secondo
volume. Per conoscere meglio entrambi i protagonisti, le loro storie personali,
quello che li turba e che li annienta, quello che li tartassa da anni e
soprattutto come è iniziata la loro storia ci saranno dei flashback durante gli
anni del college. La scrittura è scorrevole così come ci si aspetta dalla
Laine, la sua capacità di scrittura è sempre ottima, ci delizia con descrizioni
dettagliate e sequenze riflessive che permettono di legare con i personaggi. Molte
anche le scene hot e ci saranno anche dei mènage à trois molto bollenti per cui, se ciò può provocarvi fastidio, non è un libro che
fa per voi!
Ultimo, ma non meno importante, il ruolo di Ashton che
definirei fondamentale in questo libro. È il personaggio che più mi ha incuriosito
ma che fino ad ora è stato poco valorizzato, forse avrei preferito lui insieme
a Sawyer, rivoluzionando completamente la storia e invece anche lì è stato un buco nell'acqua! Sawyer e Ashton hanno un
legame unico, inspiegabile, che va oltre l’amicizia e l’amore, è un legame che
non si può etichettare ed è questo il bello. Cosa succederà adesso che Sawyer
ha perso la testa per una donna che non vuole condividere?
Tutto sommato questo libro rimane una lettura piacevole, romantica e frizzante mentre con grandissima trepidazione e ansia aspetto l’ultimo
capitolo che tratterà proprio di Ashton, il mio preferito!

Così come i precedenti libri della Chasing Butterflies anche questo mi è piaciuto tantissimo, e anche questo è stato scritto in prima persona e segue l'uso dei POV alternati dei due protagonisti principali: Sawyer e Shelly.
Ma a colpirmi maggiormente in questo volume è stato Ashton. Ecco, il mio cuore durante tutto il corso del libro ha battuto per lui, anche se l’autrice ci porta a conoscerlo man mano, svelandolo e non attraverso alcuni capitoli in cui è proprio lui a parlare.
Ashton al contrario degli altri personaggi è molto schivo, riservato, l’autrice ci fa capire che il suo passato è molto doloroso, ma non ci aiuta ancora a comprendere né il come né il perché, sappiamo solo che fa fatica a scrollarselo di dosso e che questo gli preclude ogni possibilità di vivere appieno la sua vita.
Solo Sawyer sembra capirlo, accettarlo, rassicurarlo, quando nessuno è in grado di stargli vicino; è l’unico che riesce a scacciare i mostri che lo perseguitano, cullandolo come fosse un bambino.
Sawyer e Ashton sono infatti amici fin dall'infanzia e condividono praticamente tutto… tra cui il sesso e lo sport.
In Inseguendo l’amore e Inseguendo il destino abbiamo letto di quanto fosse unico e allo stesso tempo complicato il rapporto tra i due. All’apparenza sembrano solo due amici, in realtà però ciò che li lega è un sentimento profondo che va al di là del senso di protezione, fiducia e amore. Amore si, perché questo sentimento è qualcosa in grado di smuovere, cambiare e ribaltare tutte le nostre convinzioni e percezioni. Pensavo di leggere la loro storia e sinceramente mi sarebbe piaciuto tantissimo se fosse stato così, ma…a minare l’equilibrio tra i nostri protagonisti arriverà Shelly.
Shelly ha alle spalle una storia familiare non facile e, anche se in alcuni momenti non riuscirete a comprenderla, sono sicura che poi vi conquisterà. Sembra fredda ma in realtà ha solo un disperato bisogno d'amore. È una ragazza che si nasconde per paura di essere giudicata e presa in giro per il suo aspetto fisico, e questo la porterà a prendere decisioni che potrebbero cambiarle la vita senza nemmeno rendersene conto. Ma è durante il primo anno di università che la sua vita cambia radicalmente.
Una notte... un bacio... un tocco... cambierà ogni cosa.
Sawyer Cargill è un ragazzo stupendo, ma anche arrogante, anche per lui la vita non è stata semplice, il senso di colpa lo perseguita e il dolore lo riveste come una seconda pelle. Vi sembrerà il solito stronzo senza cuore, soprattutto quando lo vedrete fare il donnaiolo e lasciare dietro di se una scia di cuori infranti, e anche la nostra Shelly sarà tra quei cuori, ma non giudicatelo, arrivate in fondo al libro e scoprirete il suo cuore, il dolore che lo ha cambiato e l’amore che gli ha permesso di rinascere. Permettetegli di entrarvi dentro e sono sicura che non resterete deluse ma anzi sono sicura che come me vi innamorerete di questo giovane ragazzo.
«Forza dillo,» affermai.
«Cosa?» chiese innocentemente.
«Stavo solo per dire che non vorrai di certo far venire a quei vecchietti un attacco di cuore.»
«Sai che la tua magica lingua potrà anche incantare la maggior parte delle ragazze, ma non me.»
Cosa sbagliata da dire, ed era troppo tardi per rimangiarmelo.
«Pensi spesso alla mia lingua?» Piuttosto che rischiare di dire qualcos’altro, alzai le mani in segno di resa e me ne tornai nella mia stanza, con lui che rideva del mio pestare i piedi.
Niente tra i nostri protagonisti sarà facile come nella vita vera, preparatevi perciò a vivere mille emozioni, e a sentire sulla vostra pelle le emozioni, le paure, e le sensazioni che si troveranno a vivere i nostri protagonisti. Preparatevi inoltre a una miriade di sensazioni che vi trapasseranno il cuore e che vi terranno incollate alle pagine del libro dalla prima all’ultima.
Questo terzo volume così come i precedenti vi conquisterà.
Lo stile narrativo è scorrevole e frizzante, vi farà ridere, sognare e riflettere sulle tantissime sfaccettature dell’amore, dell’amicizia e del senso di famiglia, nel senso classico e non del termine.

Dopo le storie di Kelley e Lenora e di Chance e Brie, ho avuto questa volta la possibilità di leggere finalmente anche la storia di Sawyer e Shelly!
A essere sincera, entrambi erano due personaggi che non mi piacevano molto, almeno a pelle, ma leggendo la storia che l’autrice ha pensato per loro mi sono poi ricreduta!
Questo, dei tre libri, è infatti quello più sofferto e le storie dei due/tre protagonisti sono in assoluto le più tristi, quelle con il bagaglio emotivo più pesante.
Parlo di due/tre protagonisti perché la storia di Sawyer e Shelly si intreccia in maniera molto forte con quella di Ashton, migliore amico di Sawyer.
A tale proposito, dopo aver letto i primi capitoli del libro e per quello che si era intravisto su Sawyer e Ashton nei libri precedenti, ero convinta che questo fosse un m/m, ma in realtà non è così anche se ci sono delle scene di sesso a tre e nel racconto ci sono molte descrizioni relative al rapporto tra loro due, un rapporto per certi versi impari ma anche forte e poco chiaro, soprattutto per alcuni aspetti che riguardano Ashton.
Come già si è potuto intuire leggendo i primi due romanzi della serie, Sawyer e Ashton sono amici fin dall'infanzia e condividono praticamente tutto… tra cui il sesso e lo sport. Sawyer è il sostegno di Ashton, persona molto problematica e piena di segreti, la cui storia spero venga approfondita in un libro della serie pensato per lui anche se in questo libro ci sono alcuni capitoli (pochi per la verità) a lui dedicati e questo perché mi è rimasta una enorme curiosità su di lui e sulla sua storia, qui solo vagamente accennata.
Ed è in questo rapporto molto forte tra i due che si inserisce, piena di paure, Shelly!
Sawyer è un ragazzo molto ricco e bellissimo ma con una storia familiare molto pesante alle spalle e che reagisce a tutto questo mostrandosi per quello che in realtà non è…appare freddo e superficiale quando in realtà è un ragazzo con un cuore immenso che impareremo a conoscere e ad amare pian piano nel corso della lettura!
Shelly ha anche lei alle spalle una storia familiare non facile e anche lei, almeno inizialmente, si mostra per quello che in realtà non è…sembra fredda ma in realtà ha un disperato bisogno di amore e, forse, Sawyer riuscirà a darle l’amore che merita.
Come si può intuire, sono entrambi due ragazzi pieni di fragilità ma anche forti e con ben chiare le idee sul loro futuro… due ragazzi che, piano piano, impareranno a trovare il loro posto nel mondo.
Anche questo, come i precedenti libri della serie, si legge molto piacevolmente perché la scrittura di Terri E. Lane riesce, ancora una volta, a farci entrare nella storia stessa facendoci appassionare alla storia di Sawyer e Shelly con la curiosità di volerne sapere sempre di più.
Almeno per me però ha un unico difetto… inizialmente è lento a carburare e si concentra troppo su Sawyer e Ashton senza però dire poi molto, almeno su Ashton! Questo almeno inizialmente, perché poi, una volta che la storia parte, parte alla grande e tiene incollati alle pagine.
È un libro, anche questo, che si può leggere separatamente rispetto agli altri della serie anche se io vi consiglio di leggerli tutti e seguendo l’ordine di uscita perché i protagonisti dei primi due libri ritornano anche in questo libro.
Non vi dico di più perché la storia è veramente molto bella e merita di essere scoperta pagina dopo pagina, imparando a scoprire e a conoscere i personaggi man mano proprio come ho fatto io! Arrivati alla fine, amerete anche voi Sawyer e Shelly e vorrete anche voi saperne di più su Ashton!

oggi il blog partecipa al review party dedicato al romanzo Inseguendo il Cuore, terzo capitolo della serie Chasing Butterflies di Terri E. Laine, autrice arrivata nelle nostre librerie grazie alla Quixote Edizioni. Dopo aver terminato la lettura di Inseguendo il Destino (QUI RECENSIONE) romanzo che ho adorato, non vedevo l'ora di avere tra le mani il volume dedicato a due personaggi che sono sicura hanno attirato l'attenzione di molte lettrici. Sto parlando di Sawyer e Ashton. Cosa nascondono? Ma soprattutto, di che natura è il loro rapporto? Ovviamente lo scopriremo in questo romanzo; la situazione, già abbastanza complessa, si complicherà ulteriormente quando nell'equazione si aggiungerà Shelly, personaggio che abbiamo avuto modo di conoscere nel primo volume. Devo essere sincera, nutrivo grossissime aspettative su questo terzo capitolo, e purtroppo non sono state soddisfatte appieno. Ma prima di spiegarvi cosa non mi ha convinta, vi racconterò per sommi capi la storia:
Sawyer e Ashton si conoscono sin da quando erano due ragazzini, da quella sera in cui Sawyer lo ha trovato in pessimo stato, riverso al suolo in posizione fetale. Da quella fatidica sera, da quando gli ha salvato la vita i due sono diventati inseparabili. Con gli anni il loro rapporto è diventato sempre più solido, sembrano vivere in simbiosi, sono l'uno l'ombra dell'altro. Tra i due c'è sintonia, c'è complicità, c'è feeling, c'è intimità; di fatto arrivati al college e dopo aver scoperto i piaceri della carne, si ritrovano spesso e volentieri a condividere le ragazze, soprattutto quelle che frequenta Sawyer, perché lui, a differenza di Ashton, non ha nessuna difficoltà ad approcciarsi all'altro sesso. Per Ashton è difficoltosa anche una semplice stretta di mano, o un abbraccio, figuriamoci il contatto fisico con una ragazza, eppure solo in presenza di Sawyer riesce a tirare giù le sue difese e a lasciarsi andare, a viversi il momento. Eppure qualcosa o qualcuno minerà il loro rapporto: Ashton lascerà la casa che condividevano e inizierà ad evitarlo, almeno fino a quando nella vita di entrambi entrerà Shelly.
Shelly conosce alla perfezione i tipi come Sawyer: bellissimo, sexy e con un fisico da urlo; è il tipico ragazzo con l'atteggiamento da figlio di papà: spocchioso e arrogante . È il tipico studente del college con la fama da play-boy e non se ne vergogna. Malgrado lo sapesse però, si è concessa a lui quando era solo una matricola e da quella notte di due anni prima finge che tra loro non sia mai accaduto nulla. Preferisce così, piuttosto che essere considerata una delle tante, e poi anche lui non sembra ricordarsi della loro notte insieme. Quando però si troverà in difficoltà nel trovare un alloggio, sarà proprio lui ad offrirle il suo aiuto, in cambio di un piccolo favore: lei potrà trasferirsi a casa sua in una delle camere vuote e in cambio dovrà fingere di essere la sua ragazza e accompagnarlo ai vari eventi organizzati dal padre: un uomo egoista e manipolatore. Shelly imparerà a conoscere un altro aspetto del carattere di Sawyer: dietro la maschera da persona superficiale e arrogante, in realtà si nasconde un ragazzo estremamente altruista, che mette al primo posto i bisogni delle persone alle quali tiene a discapito dei suoi. Presto si ritroverà innamorata di questo ragazzo tenero e appassionato, un ragazzo imprigionato da catene che si trascina dietro da tempo e non gli permettono di essere pienamente se stesso. I due però non riusciranno a viversi appieno il sentimento che poco alla volta si sta facendo strada nel loro cuore, perché sono consapevoli che il loro rapporto potrebbe far soffrire Ashton, al quale sono entrambi molto legati.
Per ovvie ragioni non aggiungerò altro sulle dinamiche della storia, perché rischierei di spoilerare e non voglio rovinarvi la lettura; quindi per scoprire come andrà a finire questo triangolo amoroso non vi resta che leggere il romanzo.
Come ho già anticipato all'inizio di questa recensione, nutrivo grosse aspettative su questo romanzo, purtroppo sono state disattese. Questa storia, così come i suoi protagonisti aveva un grosso potenziale, ma a mio avviso l'autrice non è riuscita a sfruttarlo al massimo. È come se avesse scritto tenendo un piede costantemente sul freno e avesse forzato certe situazioni. Come i precedenti romanzi della serie è scritto in prima persona e segue l'uso dei POV alternati dei due protagonisti principali: Sawyer e Shelly, fatta eccezione per qualche capitolo in cui sarà Ashton a parlare. Devo ammettere che tra i tre è lui ad essere il personaggio più affascinante, e non vedo l'ora di leggere il romanzo a lui dedicato. Il suo è un personaggio complesso, problematico, con un passato difficile alle spalle che fatica a scrollarsi di dosso e gli preclude ogni possibilità di vivere appieno la sua vita. Sawyer viene presentato come il classico protagonista dei romance: un ragazzo bello, arrogante e sexy, con una famiglia disfunzionale alle spalle che ha manipolato la sua vita a suo piacimento. Dietro la maschera da ragazzaccio però nasconde un animo altruista, disposto ad accantonare i suoi sogni pur di soddisfare i bisogni degli altri.
Quello di Shelly è un personaggio un po' particolare; confesso che non mi è mai piaciuta e non è riuscita nemmeno adesso a conquistarmi, di conseguenza non sono riuscita ad entrare in empatia con lei. Purtroppo sono riuscita a cogliere solo gli aspetti negativi del suo carattere: è troppo insicura e ha una pessima percezione di se stessa e del suo corpo. Questo aspetto di lei avrebbe dovuto avvicinarmi a lei, ma con mio grande rammarico non è accaduto; probabilmente se l'autrice avesse approfondito maggiormente l'argomento avrei avuto modo di cambiare idea. Il disturbo dell'alimentazione non è l'unico argomento serio e delicato trattato all'interno del romanzo, ma anche questi non hanno ottenuto la giusta attenzione. Troppe questioni vengono lasciate irrisolte e alcune accennate in maniera superficiale e piuttosto banale; non voglio scendere nel dettaglio, ma onestamente mi ha lasciato basita il modo in cui Sawyer liquida Ashton sul discorso sessualità. Confido di trovare tutte le risposte nel prossimo e ultimo romanzo della serie, il cui protagonista sarà Ashton, un personaggio che sono certa saprà darmi grandi soddisfazioni.
Lo stile della Laine è fresco, frizzante, scorrevole; dialoghi incalzanti rendono il ritmo narrativo serrato. Nel complesso quindi Inseguendo il Cuore rimane una lettura piacevole e lo consiglio soprattutto se avete amato i primi due volumi della serie.

Dopo aver terminato la lettura di Inseguendo il Destino (QUI RECENSIONE) romanzo che ho adorato, non vedevo l'ora di avere tra le mani il volume dedicato a due personaggi che sono sicura hanno attirato l'attenzione di molte lettrici. I've been so anxious to read this book! I one clicked as soon as it went live and didn't put it down until I reached the end.
This book is about Sawyer, Ashton and Shelly. I couldn't wait to dive in and see how it would all play out. I had so many questions I needed answered.
I have to say I'm totally in love with Sawyer's character. He was beautifully haunted by his past. He was a protector and his loyalty was limitless. Sawyer truly has a heart of gold and cares deeply for his best friend. His relationship with Ashton was unmatched and significant. There's nothing one wouldn't do for the other. I knew there had to be a profound history between the two. Terri didn't disappoint in giving us a good glimpse into their past. So much was brought to light but there's still much to discover.
I loved Shelly as well. She was a beautiful girl fighting her own demons but still had boundless love and acceptance for Sawyer and Ashton. Sawyer saw her flaws and wanted to heal her as well. His love for her was strong, resolute and exactly what she needed.
This was a beautiful story about three beautifully damaged souls and the healing power of love. Don't pass this one up. The entire series is amazing. I can't wait for the next book!

I enjoyed reading another book in this series, although I didn't read the first one I did read Chance and Brie's story and I very much enjoyed it. It’s always nice to see characters in the last book make an appearance and we get to see how they are doing.
Sawyer had me laughing at every turn. He's a cocky, arrogant hottie who has a heart of gold. He gives off an attitude like he doesn’t care and is only interested in hooking up and partying but deep down he’s the kind of guy who is always protecting the ones he loves. His friendship with Ashton is so intense and strong. It’s very sweet the way they care for each other. I can’t wait to find out more about Ashton. There’s a real heart wrenching story there, I think.
Shelly is a girl looking for love and dealing with some issues that leave her feeling insecure. There’s a love/hate relationship going on with her and Sawyer because although she is attracted to him, she also thinks he’s a jerk and a terrible womanizer.
This story spans a few years (like the other books) and I think the author paced it nicely. Their relationship developed over time and they got to know each other. Shelly got to see a side of Sawyer she didn’t know existed. Sawyer experiences the kind of love his male friends have for the first time in his life. The experiences they have are felt throughout the book, especially the burdens that Sawyer carries, which are many. I will definitely read the next installment, if there is one, which I’m hoping there is.

As a huge fan of this series I've followed Sawyer and Ashton's story from the start and was so scared, nervous, excited and happy that we were getting there books. I was not disappointed at all Terrie wrote a beautiful story that was so individual to each Sawyer and Shelly with a little bit of Ashton thrown in between and a tale that also weaved them all together.
We knew that this was gonna be a messed up situation to some extent with how each of these characters were portrayed in the previous books but I had no idea how it was gonna work but it did it really did Terrie for me couldn't have written it better if she tried it was another beautiful story that breaks your heart then puts it back together again if I could give it more than 5 stars I'd happily do that but unfortunately I can't but it will be included in my top memorable books of this year !!!!!!
And now we wait for Ashton's story and I'm really nervous about this one as I'm not sure how it's gonna go and what demons he's hiding !!!!!!

4⭐-È dal primo volume che questo personaggio mi ha fatto salire i nervi a fior di pelle con il suo atteggiamento presuntuoso, arrogante e donnaiolo apparendo superficiale, grezzo e addirittura antipatico. Ormai ho imparato a conoscere la Laine e so che con lei non si può dar nulla per scontato!
Sawyer Cargill è un giocatore di football ed è il migliore amico di Chance, Kelly ed Ashton. I fantastici quattro protagonisti della serie, i ragazzi più belli dell’università e desideri proibiti di tutte le studentesse. Dopo aver concluso la storia di Kelly e Chance, adesso è toccato proprio a lui, l’insensibile e il carismatico, lo sciupa femmine per eccellenza. Eh sì cari lettori, Sawyer porta esattamente questa nominata perché ama portarsi a letto le donne e condividerle con il suo migliore amico Ashton. WOW - Terri E. Laine can write!!! When I first started the story I wasn't sure it was for me, but boy was I wrong! This is Sawyer and Shelly's story - a standalone with the other friends making appearances throughout. Both Shelly and Sawyer have family issues they have to deal with, along with their senior year of school. Since meeting freshmen year, things have been awkward. They cope with each other through banter which each seem to enjoy but will not admit to one another. In this book we learn more about Sawyer's relationship with his best friend Ashton and as well as his family dynamics. I loved Sawyer - as much as he is a player or so everyone says, we learn his other sides - true, thoughtful, caring and loving! This book also has some surprises and secrets - it is an amazing story. I'm hoping for Ashton's story next with more answers into his life.

The book has got it all. It is breathtaking and it caught me from page one. You get through a lot of emotions just reading it. Laughs, dark thoughts, tears - you feel you are a part of the story because it is so well written. I was blown away!
There is so much chemistry between the two main characters - Shelly and Sawyer. They have a relationship where they can have fun and still help each other. They have both issues to deal with. But I still fill Shelly should have been a bit more real. She has been in all the books but has not developed that much. Sawyer is a real book boyfriend. You can only love him and his golden heart. He tries to hide who he really is but sometimes it comes through. I missed more of Ashton and I hope that it comes in the next book.
Loved the book, hope the next gives some answers to the open ends :)

I had high hopes for Sawyer's story -- by the end of Fireflies, I REALLY was hung up on the mysterious relationship between him and Ashton. So I did not expect that Shelly would be the heroine in Changing Hearts, and as a result, I was actually a little disappointed.
I think I liked the triangle (is it a triangle, or isn't it?) between the three of them more than I liked Sawyer and Shelly together.
Laine does a great job, however, with the development of the two guys, and filling in their backstory. There is so much more to Sawyer than the arrogant front he puts forward, especially when it comes to his friendship with Ashton. They are both so fiercely loyal to one another.
While it was nice seeing glimpses of Chance and Brie, I found myself struggling to finish by the end, and felt that story points were kind of glossed over. Hopefully, Ashton's book will be next and some of those story holes will be filled in.

Sawyer is finally here! I have waited for Sawyer and Ashton to tell their story, they have always been that mysterious pair in The Chasing Butterflies Series.
We finally have Sawyer’s side of the story. However, love and life aren’t always a shade of black or white sometimes they are just a brilliant shade of gray – This is one of those times!
Terri E. Laine writes this different type of romance that has a few twists that will break your heart for one but leave you cheering for another. Sawyer is a cocky arrogant football player but if you look close enough you will see a wounded soul who is just trying to find his way. He is always trying to put everyone first from his brother to his best friend, Ashton. Now he has added Shelly to the list. Although, Shelly hasn’t had anyone around to protect her except her brother, she has a hard time believing in this other side of Sawyer. Shelly and Sawyer haven’t always seen eye to eye – heck they have never gotten along since that first encounter freshmen year. Changing Hearts can be read as a standalone but I recommend you meet the whole cast of characters in The Chasing Butterflies Series. I can’t wait to read Ashton’s story of their Twisted Tale. I know his heart will be just as big as Sawyer’s!

Sawyer is finally here! I have waited for Sawyer and Ashton to tell their story, they have always been that mysterious pair in The Chasing Butterflies Series.
We finally have Sawyer’s side of the story. However, love and life aren’t always a shade of black or white sometimes they are just a brilliant shade of gray – This is one of those times!
Terri E. Laine writes this different type of romance that has a few twists that will break your heart for one but leave you cheering for another. Sawyer is a cocky arrogant football player but if you look close enough you will see a wounded soul who is just trying to find his way. He is always trying to put everyone first from his brother to his best friend, Ashton. Now he has added Shelly to the list. Although, Shelly hasn’t had anyone around to protect her except her brother, she has a hard time believing in this other side of Sawyer. Shelly and Sawyer haven’t always seen eye to eye – heck they have never gotten along since that first encounter freshmen year. Sawyer oh, Sawyer!!!!
This book is one that I was patiently awaiting. I needed to see what happened with Sawyer and I got some answers.
I was impressed with the book and everything Sawyer. I wanted so much more of Ashton though. I will admit the heroine did throw me off, I wasn't sure about her but... I think the story worked well with her. I totally go into the story line and fell hard for the sexy cocky hunk. As a huge fan of the series I ate it up like it was the best thing since sliced bread. Give me a hot broken man with so much more than he portrays and you have me eating out of your hand.
I am so glad we go to visit some of the past characters and that we got to know some of the others better. The book is funny and not to mention sexy. Grab a fan and some clean panties ladies, this book gets a little hot. Terri does it again with another installment to this awesome series. Bring on Ash!!!!!!!
