Strawberry Sprinkled Swirl Murder is the 49th installment in Susan Gillard’s Donut Hole Cozy Mystery series. This is an easy, fun, clean read. The author indicates that this book is typo free with no grammar issues; however, that is not the case, and editing and proofing are still lacking.

Caroline Humly is the new owner of Hillside Humly Hotel. She’s decided to host ‘Business Breakfasts’, with speakers and networking options. Her first scheduled speaker, George Mapleton, is a successful pancake house owner has backed out and taken his offer of providing breakfast with him. The new speaker is Norton Worthers, a very successful and millionaire businessman, but he won’t be providing breakfast, so Caroline rushes into Donut Delights to order 200 donuts by 8:00 a.m. the next morning. Heather and Amy are invited to attend the breakfast and agree to deliver and set up the donut display. When Mr. Worthers is late for his appearance and doesn’t answer the telephone, Heather suggests they go knock on his door. When he doesn’t answer, they enter his room and find him dead in his locked room.

So you think your safe with your hotel door locked,
well guess again!!!
Heather Shepherd, owner of Donut Delights and
certified private investigator, is supplying donuts
for a Business Breakfast. This breakfast is a new
concept that a new hotel owner created to take
place each month....along with breakfast a speaker
is planned.
The guests plus the speaker register and stay in
the hotel in an effort to make it successful.
So what happens when the first speaker doesn't
show up at his starting time?
Trying to locate him when he doesn't answer the
phone or his hotel door, the owner along with
Heather and Amy unlocks his hotel door. They
find him in bed.....murdered!!!
How did the murder get into the locked hotel
room? Detective Ryan Shepherd, Heather and
Amy are investigating.
The special donut is the Strawberry Sprinkled
Swirl donut.
This is book # 49 in the Donut Hole Cozy Mystery
series. It can be read as a stand alone.
I volunteered to read this story. Thanks to the
author for the opportunity. My opinion is my own.

Normally I give these books a better review than what I'm giving it now, even with the grammatical errors comma however this one was by far the worst editing I have read. Don't get me wrong it was a very good mystery and a really good read but the issue that I was having was the character Amy all the sudden had her name changed to May. And then they were actual words that were missing from a sentence and I couldn't figure out what the author was trying to figure out. I had to give this a to because I feel whoever the editor is at this point is taking advantage of the author. Very good read I enjoyed reading about the mystery and the business breakfast that was surrounding this mystery. And even the ending was excellent. However this book needs a rewrite ASAP. I love Susan Gillard and her books and I'm glad that we have made it to number 50 which is the number of the next book and I'm definitely going to read it but I was just very disappointed. Hopefully the next book in the ending will be better

I have read many locked door mysteries and this one took an interesting look at the common mystery. I felt like it may have been a little obvious from the get go, but then again... I read too many mystery books. I enjoyed the simplicity of the story. I have read some very elaborate ways for the mystery to work.

The world in this books has expanded a little more with the addition of the hotel. Though this was very focused on the mystery and we didn't really get to see anyone except Amy, Heather and Ryan in this story.

This story had a really good base and I really want Gillard to expand her books. It's ok if she doesn't put out a book a week and give the books a little more meat.

An older hotel in town has a new owner, who wants the hotel to be successful. She decides that a Business Breakfast once a month with a speaker is a way to bring in people to start.
Well, what do you do when your speaker is found in one of the rooms murdered? Heather and Amy are on the case. Who got in the locked room?
Who could have gotten a key?
An interesting case with clues and suspects.

The new owner Caroline of the hotel in town, is going to offer Business Breakfast , on certain days.. To get business from bigger places to come, with guest speaker and tips. An order for 200 donuts at 8 am tomorrow
Guest speaker doesn’t show up, Heather and Amy go to his hotel room.
No one booked after he was announced to be the speaker. Some knew him when he had owned the hotel. Two set of keys, but who did it. Another good mystery to figure out.

This is the case of how someone was murdered inside a locked room. Sound familiar? It is ingenious! I was kept wondering how it happened and who could have done it throughout the whole book. Every time I focused on one person, I was led by the hand to the next person. This is a fascinating book!!!

A new catering job put Heather and Amy right in the middle of a locked room murder mystery. With Amy by her side Heather is on the hunt for the killer to help save the new hotel and hopefully continue to cater the breakfast business meetings. Another great read by Susan Gillard. Can't wait for the next installment

This is the 49th in the series. In this one Heather and Amy supply donuts to a Business Breakfast at a near by hotel. The speaker is from murdered and they have to figure out the how and as well as a why in what looks like a locked door mystery. They have a heck of a time figuring it out but they do in the end. Loved the ending.

Another good donut.

I love Heather, Amy, and Ryan as a group. They really get good at solving obscure murders. Please do not say there are no mistakes in spelling I found four. One was on the next to last page.

Donut hole cozy book 49

Enjoyed the book.
But the typos drove me nuts. On one page Amy's name, became May.
There were a few mistakes in grammar, also.

The story itself was good, but then locked room mystery usually are.
Not enough Lily,and the pets.

Proof reader needed

I would love to have the job of editing this series of books. There are so many mistakes it takes away from enjoying the story.
