I was very happy to get this book free from Amazon and begin reading a book about the Zombie Apocalypse where an elderly person saves the day and actually gains the respect of other characters. Margaret did what had to be done without any complaining or fiddle-faddling around. She took a few seconds to adjust to the fact that there were zombies eating people, went and got her shotgun, and let it rip. I've often wondered if I would be an asset or a liability should a disaster takes place so I was happy to read this book to the end. Margaret took names and kicked @ss and she did it with class and style. She earned the respect of not only her granddaughter, Emma, but that of Scott the police officer (and others) who stood side by side with her to fight off the zombie horde. I'm not sure I liked the ending because I expected to see Margaret waiting for Emma outside but I just bought the second book before I wrote this review and I'll find out how it goes down. :)
I chose this book because of the title, I love zombie books and wanted to see how a grandma made out against zombies, well you will have to read the book to find out. I really liked the book and I'm getting ready to read the second book This book is worth your time, give it a try. I hope to read more books from this author, my only complaint is that the book was to short and that is the only reason I have it a four star rating.
Loved it, how can you not with a title like that? LOL Starts off with a bang, pun intended, and doesn't quit. Really fun quick escapism type read with few to no grammar or other annoying errors of that nature which is nice. Hoping to find out more about where the zombies at al came from, they're very interesting. I couldn't put it down and now on to the next one!
Evan Grant has an interesting take on zombies, giving them speed, intelligence, and a hierarchy. There are also brutes, mutated undead that are huge and can take a lot of damage.
As the title says, the action is nonstop, and though the characters do make some poor decisions, their behavior fits in well with the sheer chaos around them.
Loved this. There are a few missteps, but nothing too distracting. Really did enjoy it and truly loved the grandmother MC. I read this with KU but would gladly pay a buck or two for it....and will.... Looking forward to the second part.
