A discussion of Egyptian models, where they are found, who owned them, what purpose they served, where in the tomb they were placed and how they relate to tomb scenes.
This is definitely a niche book, for those interested in a very specific aspect of ancient Egyptian burial customs: the tiny wooden models and scenes found in some tombs. I’ve heard several lectures on the objects and was interested to learn more about them. I found the book very readable and informative and feel as if I have a better grasp on the subject now.
This is a very short book (just 71 pages) and includes numerous drawings and photos (all black and white). The author traces the development of models and scenes which I found helpful. The book can be easily read in one sitting. It’s not going to be for everyone, but it was exactly what I wanted.
