When Heather hires a designer to estimate the repairs to her friends' fire damaged house, she is concerned that the pushy renovator is trying to take advantage of the older women. Her concern changes when she finds the designer has been stabbed to death. Now, Heather and her bestie Amy need to determine who the murderer is. Is it the victim's former partner and sister who keeps trying to bribe them with new repair estimates? Is it a former client who found their renovations worth killing over? Join Heather as she struggles to save her friends' home and to catch a killer!
Mint Crème Murder is the 47th installment in Susan Gillard’s Donut Hole Cozy Mystery series. This is an easy, fun, clean read. The author indicates that this book is typo free with no grammar issues; however, that is not the case, and editing and proofing are still lacking.
Eva has finally received the insurance check for the fire damage to her home. Amy did an internet search and found that Turner Sisters Homes had rave reviews and arranged for Tiffany Turner, the only sister remaining in the company, to provide a repair/renovation estimate to Eva and Leila, her friend and housemate. Tiffany’s estimate was outrageous and much higher than the check Eva received from her insurer, so Heather went to confront the designer. When she arrived, she found the office door unlocked with Tiffany lying on the floor, stabbed to death.

Heather Shepherd, owner of Donut Delight and certified private investigator is present when Eva & Leila get the estimate to renovate/repair their house after the house fire. Thinking the estimate way out of line, Heather decides to go talk to the estimator. Finding the door to the estimator's office open, Heather walks into the building. What does she find???? The estimator's dead body stabbed to death with one of signature knives given away by the company after the renovations are finished. A cast of well created, vivid, quirky characters provide a variety of suspects for the investigation that follows. The donut featured is the Mint Creme donut. This is book # 47 in A Donut Hole. It can be read as a stand alone. Both Dave, the dog and Cupcake, the cake make appearances in the book. I volunteered to read this Advanced Readers Copy. Thanks to the author for the opportunity. My opinion is my own.
This was a mildly interesting book. We got to see the bakery staff a little but not as much as I would like, but it was nice to have them in the story. We did get to meet another character that I feel will probably fit in well with the other characters and will be making an appearance in the future books.
The mystery was a little odd, and you couldn't figure it out until later in the book when they had more information. I enjoyed the role reversals of who called who to the crime scene.
Heather and Amy put their skills to the test again as they attempt to solve the murder of a designer/contractor whose questionable business practices and a broken partnership leave the duo with no shortage of suspects.
Since this is book 47 in the Donut Hole series, it's difficult to find something different to say, so I'll repeat myself. Susan Gillard continues to provide entertaining stories and characters you'll enjoy.
This is the 47th in the series. In this one Amy gets someone in to look at Eva's house and give them an estimate for the repairs. Turns out the woman they called was rude, had bad ideas, didn't listen to what they wanted and generally over road everyone. A few hours she was dead and they had another case. It was a mess and it was amazing how many people disliked that woman. This one kept me guessing.
Heather’s friends finally got the money from insurance to start on their house repairs, Was not going to be easy to find someone that would listen to what they wanted. One woman was really pushy, and price was outrageous to do the work. Heather went to ask her about it, and finds she has been murdered. There actually was two women in this business, one was fair and the other had questionable prices for her jobs. The list of pass clients the murdered women is lone. Another good murder to solve.
Eva and Leila have finally gotten a check from insurance and can start renovating the house. Now to find someone who they can work with and do the job on their budget. Once again Heather finds another dead body, so the besties start investigating. Lots of suspects to interview and laughs along the way.

Eva and Leila are waiting for the insurance check to be able to fix their house and move back home when the first person they get an estimate from is found dead. Can Heather, Amy and Ryan find the killer and help get the house fixed for the ladies to move back home?
Love this series. Always really good read and quick to read.
What a joke saying the book was going to be typo free with no grammar issues because of a new editor!!! Well, you better start looking for another editor because I found plenty of errors!!
This installment of this series is well written and fun to follow. The characters are awesome and a new character is introduced, who just may remain for awhile. Loved this installment.
I love Susan Gillards books! I have read 1-47 so far and will continue to read every book in the series! I will admit I have read a few and ran out to buy donuts! Great murder mysteries without being gruesome! I enjoy them very much!
This was a really good book with two different stories. I must say that I'm enjoying Eva and Leila being part of the main characters of the book. I can't wait to read the next book in the series
The insurance check Eva and Laila were expecting has finally come in the mail and now they are looking for someone to do the renovation. Amy has volunteered to help them find the perfect person for the job. Unfortunately, before any decision can be made or finalized, Heather finds another dead body. I found this book to be very fascinating as we got to spend more time with some of my other favorite people and there was actually more than one or two suspects to the murder. I love the ending and look forward to the next exciting book!
