In her 12th chapter book, everyone's favorite first grade friend, Princess Posey, learns that sometimes exciting news comes with big changes .
When Posey's grandpa announces that he's marrying her neighbor, Mrs. Romero, Posey is thrilled! She LOVES Mrs. Romero and she's going to be the flower girl! But then she learns that Mrs. Romero will be moving away, and her dog Hero, too. That is just about the worst news ever.
Now Posey wants nothing to do with the wedding, but that is making everyone miserable--including Hero. Can Princess Posey and her tutu be strong enough to do what will make everyone happy again?
Princess Posey and the Flower Girl Fiasco was my first Posey book to read in the series. Posey is such a perfect 1st grade character. I fell in love with her instantly! This wonderful early reader is packed with so many layers of conflict: friends moving, family changes, pet problems. Stephanie Greene really keeps the story moving along. The reader jumps from one emotion to the next alongside Posey with each chapter. I can easily see this series being devoured by the 1st grade girls at my school!
At first, Posey is excited when her Gramps and Mrs. Romero announce they are getting married. But when she finds out Mrs. Romero will be moving out of her house next door into Gramps's house - along with her dog Hero, Posey is very upset.
I started to see the surprise ending coming about half way through the book. 😊 I have really enjoyed reading this series with my daughter because of how relatable it is and what great lessons it teaches children about the challenges they will face in this life.
Another realistic story about dealing with change, this time Gramps and Mrs. Romero are getting married, but instead of living next door will be moving to Gramp's house. I had high hopes, based on the title, that the book would actually be about a flower girl fiasco, as my daughter is a little nervous about doing that in an upcoming wedding. Other than a misleading title this was an enjoyable read aloud, and the short chapters made it quick as well.
This is one of my favorite series for early readers. In this one, Posey's Gramps is getting married to Mrs Romero. She's super excited until she realizes that it means that Mrs Romero and her dog Hero will not be her next door neighbor. Posey is really upset about not getting to see Hero every day and she reacts how a lot of young kids would. Its not pretty, but its authentic. I like that she gets what she wants and then realizes that maybe it wasn't what she actually wanted.
