I write thriller, historical and romance books, also non-fiction about moving to France where I am an independent estate agent. I am a co-presenter on Talking Books Ex-PatRadio.com on Thursdays from 10.30-11.30 GMT.
I was born in the Highlands of Scotland where I went to school. I moved to Aberdeen to study law. After completing my law degree, I obtained a Diploma in Legal Practise and completed a two year trainee-ship with an Aberdeen-shire law practise. Once a fully qualified lawyer I moved to Glasgow then Edinburgh as I wanted to specialise in court work. After twelve years as a court practitioner specialising latterly in criminal defence I moved to South West France where I set up my own estate agency firm.
I have lived in South West France for 11 years and began writing about 4 years ago.
It has always been my dream to write. I have a wide range of reading interests and am always ready to enjoy a good book regardless of genre.

Jason was such a driving force in this novel for me. I feel like he really was such a strong presence in Aurelie's life.

There was so much going on throughout this novel. I was in it for the romance, like I always am. I felt like it was believable and even though there was an instant chemistry and attraction, the love and relationship unfolded in a steady way.

Eilidh McGinness really manages to captivate the reader with her words and descriptions. I felt their heartache and joy and loved the ups and downs.

The author is a wonderful observer of life and manages to portray human quirks so that her characters are very real, yet completely different to each other.

The refreshing thing is that the entire novel is relatable, and with every moment I became more invested in Jason and Aurelie’s story.

I recommend it as a good-feel and entertaining read. I will certainly read another one from this author.

This was my first read by author Eilidh McGinness but the way she wrote her characters just drew me in.
This book follows the story of Aurelie & Jason; two strangers who happened upon each other one day by chance. Both these main characters have past issues and neither want anything serious and yet they are drawn to each other. I love how the author had the characters grow together to see if they could overcome their past hurts and issues. There are a few times when the author threw a curveball and took the story in a direction that I was not anticipating, but she made it all work out in the end. Everything about this book just draws the reader in. The chemistry between the two main characters, the history and drama from the characters’ past, and even the atmosphere just draw you in. The author has made me want to learn all I could French culture.

This isn’t a long book and the pacing is rather quick so once the reader gets in to the story they will just breeze right on through the book. I am eager to see what else this author comes out with; I would enjoy reading another one of her books.
