Katie wasn't the most popular girl in school. In fact, she was cat-called and snubbed by nearly everybody. She and her cat "Green eyes" would take a walk into the woods to the big oak and dream of adventures that made her happy. The big oak held a secret that Katie would soon discover concerned her and her cat. An enchanting and dangerous adventure, and a terrific read. Find out for yourself. Pick up your copy today. Oh, and the e-book has some amazing art work in it, too! Really, it is just an enchanting read.
This is a wonderful tale of young girl discovering who she is while on a fantastic adventure. She is accompanied by ,not so normal ,companions who guide and protect her on the way. This whimsical fantasy leaves you smiling and wanting more!!
With magic portals, and different man beasts, a villain, a curse and even a real live princess, with ghosts, bats, giants, trolls and dragons... good and magic will triumph over evil
I had to put this book down. I seldom call it quits with a book, but this is one of those that I just couldn't drag myself through.
I read all manner of books and for all ages. This was a young adult, or younger book, but it was so heavy with "stuff" that I couldn't hack it. That and the fact it was written in the British style where there is a period before the end quote mark, followed by the tag.
Example: "John knew Boots was nearby when the accident happened." Joe said.
It bothered me a lot to constantly see that, but that was minor compared to the ins and outs of the story. I'm not quite sure why I could not go further, but there was so much going on and more and more outrageous things that may appeal to others, but I didn't see an end to it all.
I'm a reader who loves great detail, but the way the details were presented in Chimes didn't make the story endearing. Let me know how you rated/liked this book. I don't have it in me to finish to the end.
This was a fun story that was very well developed. There was an array of characters introduced throughout and they were all well developed. I felt the author did a great job putting this story together and making it possible to stand alone or be continued. Definitely worth giving a read.
The Chimes In the Tree is a wonderful tale of a young girl truly finding herself. She enters a magical world where she meets seven protectors of the Kingdom of Chapparel who become her close allies on a quest to save the King and Queen and their children from the spell the whole city is under by the devious Osiris. There is also a spirit guide to guide her, as she learns to trust her own instincts. She enters as a young frightened child, but leaves as a warrior princess who is afraid of nothing. This book is quite Disney-like in the strong female characters they have been doing in their stories of late. Also a bit Harry Potter-like with the creatures that are throughout the story. Good reading for tweens through adult. You want to be Katie. I loved it!
