Office supply addict Eve McGrath’s meticulously organized life is on the verge of crashing at her feet. Blue Mountain distillery’s new tasting and visitor center has to be finished pronto or her mother will lose her mind. Nick Baker is back in Kentucky just long enough to get his wayward dad back on his feet. Then he’s gone. Unfortunately, he can’t resist helping Eve, the sexy distiller-in-distress, whose addictive, bourbon-flavored kisses threaten his carefully constructed boundaries. And if he can’t rein himself in, the uncomfortable secrets of past will nail him to the wall…
A TASTE OF YOU is one of those books that just put a smile on your face; a feel good story with lots of depth.
I really enjoyed how Stanley took emotionally scarred individuals, who clearly had some truly difficult issues to overcome, but didn't make that the focus of the story- telling.
Eve was amazing! Her strength and ability to accept and even joke at her own flaws but still not let it bog her down made her one of my most favorite contemporary romance characters this year.
I received this ARC copy of A Taste of You from Entangled Publishing, LLC - Lovestruck. This is my honest and voluntary review. A Taste of You is set for publication July 10, 2017
Book Review For: A Taste of You by Teri Anne Stanley 'A Taste of You' By Teri Anne Stanley is book Three in the "Bourbon Brothers" series. This is the story of Eve and Nick. This is actually the first book I have read by Ms. Stanley so for me this was a standalone book. This was a cute romance that brought Nick and Eve together...and it worked. Nick and Eve were both different in how the approached things in life and really seem to have totally different take on things. But in the end they came together and were able to work through the issues they had. I will be looking for more books by Ms. Stanley. "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."https://www.amazon.com/gp/profile/A2H...https://twitter.com/soapsrus68https://www.facebook.com/RomanceBookR...http://booklikes.com/bloghttps://roma...https://www.tumblr.com/blog/romancebo...
I was really looking forward to getting back to the Blue Mountain Distillery and I was very happy that I went back. Eve and Nick’s story was a little bit strange and a whole lot interesting.
Eve was a real pip. She was definitely OCD about things being in order, planning and life. Nothing is spontaneous with her, even having sex. But, there is one person that makes her forget her planner, her notebook and her post-it notes … Nick Baker.
Nick makes no promises. He does not make plans. He takes things as the come … one-day-at-a-time! That’s him. A man who cannot be counted on to be there in the long run. Then, why did he agree to finish building the tasting and visitors center when his father went down? Why can’t he say no to little Miss Organization? What is it about her that gets him thinking about long-term and breaking every promise he made to himself and make her a promise that he would always be there for her?
There are several things standing in the way of Eve and Nick. The biggest barrier is his secret. The 2nd biggest is Lorena who wins the Bitch of the Month Award. Nope, not a fan of this woman, her higher-than-thou attitude or the blinders she has on, just turned me completely off. Especially at the end. I was hoping that she would have been redeemed and she just pissed me off more. I was surprised with who was redeemed and showed me that the love of a father for his son could turn your way of thinking around.
So, now it’s time to seriously commend Ms. Stanley on the writing of this story. She dug into some serious issues and wrote about them with style and grace. She showed us the trials of tribulations of a person going through AA and just how it affects the people around them. She dug deep and showed us the emotions of people going through Al-Anon/Alateen and how they cope with family members who are alcoholics. I was really impressed with how she wove these topics throughout the story but also gave Nick and Eve the chance to fall in love. Ms. Stanley also has a sense of humor and it shown through right from the beginning. I am looking forward to another trip back to Blue Mountain and can only hope that she keeps the series as fun and interesting as A Taste of You was.
This is a truly heartwarming tale of two people who have reacted in very different ways to having alcoholic fathers. She’s something of a control freak, with a real fetish for stationery which she stores in her ‘magic closet’. He’s determined not to make promises or plans, only striving to support his Mum largely because of his feelings of guilt. The two meet when Eve tries to discover what has happened to the carpenter she’d employed to build the new tasting and visitor centre at her family Blue Mountain distillery. The carpenter in question is Nick’s father, and Nick has returned because his father is in hospital. That puts Eve in a real quandary as a huge charity event is being set up to coincide with the opening of the centre and if it isn’t finished all her carefully organised plans will be thwarted - to say nothing of the state her Mum will be in! As she tries to inveigle Nick into taking over from his Dad and finishing the job, their back stories, attraction and the Bourbon all have a role to play in this enthralling story!
I was impressed how the author dealt with some difficult issues and helped her characters grow and develop through the story. Don’t assume it is all a negative tale, there are plenty of laugh out loud moments - especially in that Magic closet! There are hot, steamy encounters and some bad language in this story but not enough to detract from an enjoyable story from my point of view. If you like your stories where issues are dealt with and opposites attract despite their differences and reticence, you could well thoroughly enjoy escaping into this story like I did!
I requested and was given a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.
Eve and Nick may not be perfect, but they are perfect for each other. She needs someone to believe in her and encourage her to believe in herself. He needs to forgive himself for past mistakes and work his way through his truckload of heartaches. Ms. Stanley is a miracle worker. Nick and Eve are frustrating, heartbreaking and captivating. Perfection is a state of mind that may begin with the best of intentions, yet turn out anything but. With a Taste of You, Terri Anne Stanley shows readers there is beauty in being flawed. There's no more powerful message than that.
Eve is on a mission, both personal and professional. Eve, her sister, Allie, and their mom, Lorena, are the only remaining McGraths and Eve is determined to not only restore the old distillery, much to the delight of the co-owning family, the Morgans, but also to complete the addition of a tasting and visitors center in honor of her dad, Jamie, and brother, David, both gone too soon. Now if the carpenter she hired, Raleigh Baker, would be consistent in showing up for work... When Eve decides to make a visit and inform Raleigh he's in breach of contract, she instead meets the sexy, and extremely talented carpenter, Nick, Raleigh's son.
Nick has no intentions of staying in town long. Once his dad is out of the hospital, and Nick has found someone to watch over him, he's gone. His dad is, was, and will remain an alcoholic and Nick wants no part of it. In the meantime, upon meeting the beautiful Eve and learning of her plight, and slight desperation to get the job finished on time, Nick decides to help her, and if, during there business arrangement, something more intimate arises...
"Such language from such a sweet girl. And she was sweet. Which was just complicating matters, because he continually found himself wanting to please her." - Nick
As Nick, the anti-planner, and Eve, the queen of it, began working together closely, their mutual attraction becomes even more intense. However, both have their demons and they revolve around the same thing, which happens to be part of Eve's family's legacy. See, Eve's Dad was also an alcoholic, just like Nick's. However, he lost his fight with his addiction, causing him to take his own life. So, understandably, Eve is cautious in regards to those with the same issue, but she doesn't know Nick's secret. Nick traveled the same path as his dad, thankfully though, he detoured toward sobriety and had stayed there for five years. This job, the temptation of not only the proximity of liquor but Eve herself, is sorely testing his restraint and he's worried...one of those things will prove to be irresistible. The question is, which one?
Will Nick come through for Eve and complete her project on time? Will Eve's dedication to her dad and brother be all she'd hoped for? Will Raleigh, Nick's dad, be able to fight his dependency on alcohol? Will Nick and Eve continue fighting their connection? Will they act on it, even knowing it won't be anyhing more than temporary? But it can be so much more too, right? Will Nick and Eve get their HEA?
One-click now and follow along as Nick and Eve, both struggling with their own pasts, realize simultaneously that while you can't organize everything, sometimes fate already has plans in place for you.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
I saw a lot of hype for this book when I first started my twitter account . Intrigued by the title, the cover, and the new author I have yet had the chance to read, I was excited to download it and see what the hype was about.
Expecting a light-heart romantic comedy, A Taste of You by Teri Anne Stanley is borderline it. What I mean is that both characters, Nick and Eve come from such dark pasts that it gives off this raw and real truth to it. Not every character is born from a privileged background. Not every character is happy growing up. Both Nick and Eve come from families that suffered alcoholism, failed marriages, and disappointment.
Nick, our resident hero, wants nothing to do with helping his father fulfill his contract with Eve. One look at her, and he knew he couldn’t stand a chance if they spent more than the allotted time together. He thinks he’s a wash up, a replica of his father, and therefore, he doesn’t believe Eve should even touch her with a ten feet pole. It was sad to see him go through this but what I enjoyed about this character was that instead of being flawed by association, Teri Anne Stanley made him more by the plot twist towards the end. I’m not going to spoil it because that’s rude and you should read it yourself! Ha!
Eve, our heroine, is not the pencil pusher she is. Her father, just like Nick’s, was an alcoholic that lied, cheated, and ultimately drank himself to death. Coping for her father’s death was never in her agenda she keeps everything up to date with, but instead she takes care of her mother who was too proud to admit that her husband was an alcoholic. Despite the pressures of her family, Eve remains to be quite like your average gal from other romantic novels. She’s sweet, caring, and fierce.
The reason why this book is not a perfect 5 out of 5 stars for me is because it didn’t hit the mark in my heart. There were parts that dragged–as do with all books that are part in a series and when you read from the middle instead of the beginning. And it lacked the spark I wanted. Instead of a spark, I got a snap, crackle, pop! Enough to keep me going but not enough for me to think about long after I finished the book.
MY RECOMMENDATION
Read it but i suggest reading the other books before this one so you can truly understand the characters.
Eve and Nick make one heck of a couple, and an even better team as they worked together to get Eve's family's tasting center up and ready to go for her mother's big charity event. And okay, there were some pretty serious issues being dealt with here too--alcoholism, both from the personal POV and that of their family's, guilt and abandonment--but even though their treatment was well done and realistic, they didn't bog the story down. Throughout it all, Ms. Stanley's writing had me giggling out loud--a lot--and even tearing up at the end. Because, dang. Good ending.
A Taste of You is the third book in the series, but should work fine as a standalone; even though the MCs from books one and two (Drunk on You and A Shot with You) make frequent appearances, you don't have to have read their books to enjoy them here. But given what happens at the end, you're probably going to want to.
Just sayin'.
Also just sayin'--an office supplies addiction is only a problem if you let it be one. There's nothing wrong with a healthy appreciation for post-it notes, composition books, and exactly the right size tabs for every project. Nothing. At. All. Plus, everybody counts down the days until the back to school sales start at office supply stores, don't they? I know Eve has my back here... ;)
Rating: 4 stars / A-
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Nick Baker is back in Kentucky because his father is in the hospital after drinking too much and injuring himself. Now in the hospital they don’t want to release him because they found some other issues, one being he drinks too much. Nick also knows that his father has a job to do and is really not wanting to help him out. That is until Eve McGrath shows up at the soon to be Blue Mountain Distillery tasting room and visitor center. Having hired Nick’s father and now seeing Nick she wants to hire him, she also sees a few things that he has built and knows he can do the job but is wondering why he lives in Tennessee, and he really has not a steady job for 5 years. Nick really is attracted to Eve but is worried about his sobriety working at the distillery. The author does a good job of incorporating Nick going to AA meetings and talking to his sponsor this just adds to the story. My only issue with the story and this is just mine, is that Nick needed to come out and just tell people a few times that he does not drink and the issue would have been dropped, but I understand for the story it needed to be played out a certain way. My friends know I don’t drink now for over 30 years and we still get together where ever and even back then they supported me. The ending of this book is great at least for me and also the way he worked out the issue with his mother, parts of steps 8 and 9 are forgiving yourself as well. Both Nick and Eve are working on their pasts in order to have a future. You also get a look at both AA and Al-Anon, and both families are dealing with the effects of alcohol. Eve’s obsession with office supplies adds humor to the story as well as some other fine moments. Overall a very good book and a quick read. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Oh wow! It's such a fun read, I absolutely loved this book. It's one of those amazing stories which warm your heart, and make you fall in love. Beautifully written, it has great plot, fun & interesting main characters, and it is very well-written. I'd definitely recommend it to all contemporary romance readers, it's a must read book. Eve is well-organized. She likes to make notes, plan ahead, and know exactly what she is going to do and when she is going to do it. Right now she is working on a very important project and need her carpenter to show up. When he didn't she has to go and find him. Unfortunately, she found a lot more than a carpenter... or may be I should say fortunately, it depends on how you look at it. In any case now she does have a carpenter, her work is on track, but her heart? That's a different story all together. Nick doesn't make promises. He likes to take on step at a time, one day at a time. He is all wrong for someone like Eve. He knows that, Eve knows that, everyone knows that and yet those two simply can't resist each other. Nick has to return home sooner or later. He can't stay with his father forever and when he leaves what will happen to Eve and her expectations? I was given a complimentary copy of this book and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It's a great read so do check it out. :)
This review contains slight SPOILERS. Paragraphs containing spoilers will be marked clearly.
The technical stuff: The cover of this book is drop dead sexy. If I hadn't already wanted to read it, that cover would have had me clicking to see what the story was about. This book is technically book 3 of the “Bourbon Brothers” series, and although the first books in the series are fabulous stories and should be read for that reason, you *do not* have to read them to enjoy this one. There is both on screen sex and cursing (including f-bombs) in this book so if those will cause you to leave a bad review of the story, then you should skip this one.
As someone who is familiar with the affects that alcohol can have on a family, on a life, this book touched a nerve that I wasn't expecting, and I mean that 100% in a positive way. *SPOILERS to end of paragraph*
But despite the serious nature of Nick's backstory, this book is full of the laugh out loud moments that I have come to expect and love in Ms. Stanley's books so please don't be scared off by that previous paragraph. This story is still a lighthearted and adorable love story that will make you laugh.
Eve was a little bit neurotic (in a good way) and incredibly organized, but she was also a little bit of a hot mess. She was so determined to keep the family legacy going that she wasn't living her own life. Watching her change and grow over the course of this book was fabulous, and I especially enjoyed her part in the final few chapters. As someone with an addiction to office supplies, I found myself laughing and LOVING her fetish for post-its and paper clips and pens that write oh so smoothly (oh maybe I'm projecting on that last one).
If you enjoy a book about two fabulous characters who fall in love despite the differences that should keep them apart, and a story about things that go so much deeper than the usual fluffy romance novel fodder (which I also love so that is not meant to be an insult!) than you should give this book a read. It was a fabulous, wonderful way to end this series.
I requested and was generously granted an ARC of this book. I was under no obligation at all to write this review or to pre-order the book. I did both of those things because I very much enjoyed the story.
Excellent read! It's fun, flirty, and entertaining. Through the humor you can really feel the depth of these characters and how far they've come. It's very well written and has a great story at the core.
Eve McGrath works with her mother organizing all the charitable activities her family is involved with. They are currently working on tasting event to be held at the family distillery. So when it looks like the carpenter she hired to finish the new tasting center as skipped out on her she goes tracking him down. That's when she meets Nick Baker. He's the carpenters son and the one she has to convince to finish the job when she discovers his father has messed up his leg. Luckily he finds her irresistible and ok he may owe her a pile of reclaimed wood for the new bar. But working at a distillery? Nope not a good idea. Maybe he can just stick around long enough to get her wood for her then turn everything over to his father again.
A great quick read and one I recommend to everyone.
Another cute book for this series. It’s sweet and heartfelt. Eve is beyond type-A and she is on a time crunch to get her family’s new tasting and visitor center for the distillerary ready by opening date. The only problem is her carpenter is MIA so when she goes to finds him she finds his extremely attractive son and his father unable to complete the job because he’s injured. As luck would have it Nick is also a carpenter but convincing him to complete the job in his father’s absence isn’t easy. The last thing Nick a recovering alcoholic needs it to work at a whisky distillery but he eventually relents to complete what’s left of his father’s work. As time passes Nick discovers there is more that whisky at the distiller to tempt him. Eve and Nick have similar back round with unreliable alcoholic fathers and an attraction to one another that’s too strong to resist. Nick doesn’t believe his good enough for Eve and doesn’t want her to know the past he’s ashamed of. I loved the characters, the connection, and the buildup of the storyline. This was a 4 star read for me.

I loved this book! Eve's family owns a distillery that is preparing to launch their tasting and visitor center when her contractor disappears. Unable to reach him, she goes to his house and finds his son, Nick. Nick agrees to help with the work his dad left undone, but wasn't prepared for his attraction to Eve.
Both Eve and Nick come from similar backgrounds, both bad, and aren't sure what to do with each other. Add in Nick's believe that he's unworthy and you have all the makings for a great novel I loved the characters and felt invested in their story. I wanted them to find a way to overcome their backgrounds and find their HEA.
This is a wonderful series and fans of the genre will love it. I've added the author to my must read authors' list.
Fun. Flirty. Sexy. Light. Engaging but not overwhelming. This was a read that told you of the hardships and pain without overwhelming you with the intense or over stimulating details of it all. The characters were able to still live life without having their past take joy and pleasure out of it. Eve was due for some fun and flirt a little. Nick needed to live in the now and not the past so much. Eve understood herself and allowed for life to happen and went along with it for the most part. She was strong and realistic. These two took life in different strides but came together and made a whole new path form and it worked.
Looking for a light, quick, fun, flirty read. Need a smile that will get you through. Then I suggest you pick up Teri Anne Stanley’s latest release A Tasty of You.
This was a great read. The H and h were both very likeable and you just can’t help pulling for them to find their HEA. Eve McGrath has to work with Nick Baker to finish the visiting center for her family’s Bourbon distillery. Nick’s father is an alcoholic who was supposed to be doing the work, but he’s gotten sick. Nick has come back filled with resentment of having to take care of his dad who did so little to take care of him when he was a kid. Nick is facing his own problems with alcohol so he’s wary about working at a distillery. But he can’t resist the Eve’s appealing sweetness. Eve is coping with her own family problems since her father was also an alcoholic and her mother has trouble coping with that reality and the effect on her daughters.
Nick acknowledges how attracted he is to Eve and yet feels that she deserves better than a former alcoholic guy who is the son of the town drunk. Eve is sensitive enough to look past that to the real Nick and return his interest. The book is basically about how they learn to come to terms with who they are and what they mean to each other. What makes this so enjoyable is that they do so with wit and good humor. They aren’t all angsty about their personal problems all the time, but instead exchange some fun repartee that demonstrate right off that Nick is more than the alcoholic failure that he regards himself as.
I was given a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was a little disappointed to realise this was the third book of the series, but I really didn’t feel I’d missed anything by not having read the first two books.
A wonderful, fun and exciting story, A Taste of You has fabulous characters and captures your total attention from the outset. I’ll definitely be reading more by this author.
This was one by this author that the characters did the pulling. They take you along by the hand with the story wrapping around you giving a good escape for awhile. Eve and Nick both have their things to accomplish with helping a parent but when they combine the chemistry level begins to rise . Bits of humor are also sprinkled through out the reading of this to have this be a well rounded romance to stay into. They have their issues but then so do we with this author showing how these two have them crumble abit. She knows how to warm us up quite abit with her writing coming out of this one satisfied with the smile to show for it.
A truly laugh out loud romantic comedy that'll have you searching for additional books by this author. The speed in which Eve's internal monologues occurred was the basis for most of the hilarity. The chemistry between she and Nick was sigh worthy and heartwarming.
Ms Stanley is a comic genius in the timing of dialogue delivery as well as the depth and personality she has created within her characters. I was floored with how easy it was to become emotionally invested so quickly in not only Nick and Eve, but also the reoccurring roles of the characters from the first two books in the series.
This author is definitely on my watch list for future releases.
This ARC book was a complimentary copy provided by the Publisher and Netgally, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
*Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review* This was a cute read! I enjoyed reading this book and I like the cover. I haven't read the other books in the series, but I didn't feel like I was missing out on any important information. I am interested in the other characters though so I may go back and read the first one. This is a cute, sweet, sexy book and I'm really glad I got the chance to read it.
One word, hilarious! Who knew that office supplies could turn someone on. Eve is over the top OCD about her lists and daily planner. Nick is the perfect example of easy going. So together they made me laugh so hard that my husband kept asking me what's so funny. Made him chuckle too.
The author is a friend of mine, but that’s not why I read her books. I read her books because they’re fun. Lighthearted. And really good stories. I can count on Teri Anne to give me a laugh and make me go awww.
Eve McGrath needs the new Tasting and Visitor centre finished at her family's distillery, so she's determined to confront the contractor she hired. However, she finds herself meeting the unreliable contractor's gorgeous son instead, and demanding he finish the job. Will Nick Baker do the right thing by accepting to take on the job Eve needs him to finish, so they can have a shot at forever after; or will he leave her high and dry and needing to find someone else to finish the job?
With every book, this series just keeps getting better and better, and Ms. Stanley delivers another wonderful and captivating read in this third story of her Bourbon Brothers series, encompassing a fast-paced storyline that is filled with plenty of dialogue, which had me smiling or laughing; and main characters that have such interesting back stories that I couldn't wait to discover more about them, especially the hero. The way this story started had me hoping the heroine would get what she wants, because she needs everything to work out, otherwise there's no telling how her mother will react. Will everything work out for the best for Eve?
As for the dialogue, it was intense and had me loving both the main characters because of their back stories and their playful banter, especially when they're conversing about relationships and the heroine's organizing skills when it comes to her office supplies. Those moments had me laughing and determined to discover how many more times they could make me laugh. Moreover, I really enjoyed the hero's back story, as he's fighting a battle he's not certain he'll win in the long run, especially since there's plenty of temptation working for Eve at Blue Mountain Distillery and the fact that his father doesn't help matters with him having the same problem the hero had but not willing to do anything about it. I also liked how close the hero is with his mother and the advice the woman gives to him about Eve because he certainly needs it.
While the heroine, her need to be meticulous and her need to learn things she barely knows anything about had me really liking Eve. I also liked how much Eve grew throughout this story and that she finally stood up for what she wanted in her life, instead of continuing to remain the puppet her mother treats her like in expecting the heroine to fall in line with the woman's plans. I also liked how accepting she was of the hero, considering she's already witnessed the effects of the addiction the hero has recovered from, but could still fall back into the habit if he's not careful.
Overall, Ms. Stanley completely captivated me with this book where the chemistry was intense and the ending had me smiling because of the heroine's courage to finally fight for what she wanted for her future. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as the heroine is finally truly happy and I liked how what was happening with Eve's sister managed to bring the family a little closer after everything that happened. I would recommend A Taste of You by Teri Anne Stanley, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope or books by authors Marissa Clarke, Boone Brux, Stefanie London or Donna Michaels.
Eve McGrath has decided that her family's new bourbon tasting center will open without a hitch, and nothing is going to stand in her way. When the contractor she hired suddenly stops showing up for work, she takes matters into her own hands and shows up at his house. Eve learns that her contractor has been hospitalized, so to keep the project on schedule, her only choice is to convince his son to finish the job.
Nick Baker doesn't do commitment. He takes life as it comes -- one day at a time. He's not too thrilled to be back home, taking care of a father who never took much interest in taking care of him, but when sassy, spunky Eve shows up to demand that he take over his dad's job, he's gotten himself in over his head. All he knows is that, as a recovering alcoholic, a bourbon distillery and tasting center is probably not the ideal work environment. There's something about Eve, though, that makes him want to prove that he can commit. That he can work at a distillery without succumbing to temptation. That he can be the person she needs.
I actually really loved this book! I was a bit nervous going in because I somehow missed that this is #3 in a series when I requested it. There's no backstory necessary to enjoy this plot, though, so I was able to dive right in without feeling like I'd missed something.
I thought that both Eve and Nick were great characters -- particularly Nick -- and their struggles and conflicts didn't feel contrived at all. Their relationship seemed to develop naturally, without any instalove or manufactured angst. Now, don't get me wrong -- there's plenty of drama in this book. Don't get the impression that it's all smooth sailing! Eve and Nick go through their fair share of disagreements and setbacks, but it all felt like it could happen in real life, which is something that I most definitely appreciated.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, my first by Teri Anne Stanley, and I would love to go back and read the other two books in this series. If you like contemporary romance, you could do a whole lot worse than A Taste of You.
I received a free advance copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
control freak eve mcgrath meets her match makes-no-promises nick baker in a taste of you. she's the event coordinator extraordinaire who manages the blue mountain distillery's tasting room and her mother with a notebook filled with to-do lists and a special love of office supplied. he's a recovering alcoholic whose father is a raging alcoholic who is contracted to refinish the tasting room space in time for eve's mother's big society function.
basically, it's all a disaster waiting to happen. and it falls apart pretty much the way you think. except, nick doesn't fall off the wagon, which is good. and the connection that he and eve develop is real and strong and oh-so-sexy.
she's so tightly wound and something about him spins her out of control in a way that feels so liberating. and being with her makes nick want to make promises that he will keep. so much so that even when things feel hopeless you have hope that they'll make it through in the end because as unlikely as it is, they are meant to be.
i love it when obstacles have stakes, but are also things you can overcome. it makes you feel like the characters really earn their happy endings. both nick and eve have enough baggage between them that whatever happiness they earn feels deserved. it's a nice thing, actually.
**a taste of you will publish on july 3, 2017. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (lovestruck) in exchange for my honest review.
Cute read which I really enjoyed. We introduce Nick into the fold who is a man running from his past. He has to come home to Kentucky where he ran 5 years ago from when his father ends up in the hospital since he has no one else. Its the last place he wants to be when an unexpected visitor shows up at his dads house. Eve is a force to be reckoned with, she is a person who is not afraid to go after what she wants in life. When checking on where her contractor is she meets Nick who she convinces him to fill in until his dad can go back to work since she is on a deadline. Nick has his own demons that he deals with and doesn't want to hurt Eve, so he keeps his heart closed and is careful with others. But what he doesn't realize is that Eve has her own problems in life and own quirks to deal with life. No one is perfect, can these two lost souls find there way in life. Honest review in exchange for ARC.
Nick and Eve seem to be opposites but they compliment each other so well! Nick doesn't make plans and Eve is a compulsive planner, and both had alcoholic fathers. It doesn't take long for them to realize that they have a spark between them and act on it.
I loved that even though Nick really did not want to work at a distillery, he saw how Eve's mother was treating her and how devastated she would be if he didn't bail her out of the mess. Plus, he really did owe her since he used up the "spare" wood that was supposed to be used for her job.
It was great watching both Eve and Nick work through their issues and find a way to repair the problems in their lives. Even Nick's father was inspired to get the help that he needed, and eventually Eve's mother!
The book was a fun read and had lots of laughs through out! It really was hard to put down as I wanted to keep reading and find out what was going to happen next!
What a great quick paced sweet read! I loved Eve as a character. She was anal about her organization, which brought several smiles to my face throughout this story. I mean who doesn't love office supplies, post it notes, and those spiral notebooks??? Eve was very amusing, outspoken, genuinely looked at the good in people, and went for what she wanted in Nick. Nick was a very vulnerable man, who wanted to make amends and do right by people. I was saddened by the amount of guilt he carried. But I loved his talk with his mom and the way he helped Eve. They had a really great relationship of unconditional love and support. The epilogue was hilarious. A great way to end the book.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.
