This is about the Cheyenne Indians being taken advantage of while the American West was being settled. It is written from the point of view of an American soldier who wanted to help them. It was pretty good but dry in some parts. It really does explain the exploitation of the Indians though.
A novel about Sand Creek, the Cheyennes (Black Kettle) and the infamous Chivington. Mr. Straight did this in the form of Maj. Wynkoop's diary. Very well done. He has written another novel called Carrington - A Novel of the West about Fort Phil Kearney and the Fetterman disaster. Hope he does one on Custer.
