When they discover their cousin Kell’s friend Fiona is their mate, they realize finding the feisty little Cajun widow was the easiest part of the journey. If you love your happily ever afters with a side of sass and sexy times, you've come to the right place. My name is Kasey and I am a multi-genre romance author. I write under two pen names KASEY BELLE and K.A. BELLE. (K.A. has her own profile.)
As KASEY BELLE, I write heterosexual, menage, and LGBTQ+ romances (including paranormal, contemporary, military, and erotic).
As K.A. BELLE, I write exclusively gay male romance (including everything from contemporary to paranormal).
I created different names to help readers quickly find the stories that interest them without needing to search through genres that don't tickle their fancy. Regardless of your genre preferences, whether you choose Kasey or K.A., there is only one thing you need to know: My books are filled with soulmates, unconditional love, acceptance, family (both blood and chosen), humor, all the feels, and always end happily ever after.
This book was very interesting in the whole Shifter world. However, the execution could have been better. I know the author is independent but could really use an editor or a couple more once overs. I had issues with some of the plot, some of the sentences, and grammar usually isn't an issue for me however I did start noticing some things. A character's name was changed in the middle of the story, and then their title changed as well, I kept wondering if this was a different person or different people.
So lets start off with the beginning of the book with the Prologue.
That prologue was AMAZING, gut wrenching, heartfelt and made me bawl like a little baby. And that was the first pages of the book. I felt it was promising when it struck me emotionally like that.
Chapter 1 starts off with Fiona at work, at the hospital, and being visited by her stepfather who abused her when she was younger. Turns out he needs money and thinks she owes him. *insert eye roll here* she doesn't owe him shit. She's so freaked out and needs to go see her daughter in the daycare in the hospital she works at. I kept expecting her stepfather to be waiting for her when she got out of the hospital but this didn't happen. Life goes on we go through the motions and there is a TON of internal dialogue which I'm not a huge fan of. I like equal parts dialogue and internalizing. Then in the beginning we have several flashbacks one right after the other, I thought it was quite odd, and a bit jarring as well as annoying. Then they stopped and never happened again.
Emma Grace, her daughter comes in as well, and the author decided to put in Emma's way of talking word for word written in baby talk. This annoyed me for a bit since it took me a while to figure out some of what the words were. However as it progressed I did sort of enjoy it because I could picture her talking like this as well. So I'm in the fence as to whether it's good or bad for the book.
Emma Grace and Fiona go about their life, and Kell, Fiona's late husband David's "brother" from the Navy, tries to convince Fiona to bring Emma Grace (what a mouthful) and herself to Texas for Emma Grace's 3rd birthday. What Fiona doesn't know is that Kell is a shifter and his alpha and beta (both brothers) heard Fiona over the phone and realize she is their mate. So this puts things into motion. Fiona eventually agrees and later her and E.G. go shopping for birthday outfits. As they come home they are kidnapped to be sold for sex for her stepfather's debt.
So far I'm ok the action is interesting and the story is flowing well.
Things take a slight left turn after this.
After what ensues with the kidnapping, I won't give it all away, Fiona and E.G. flee to Texas, and are going to meet Declan, the alpha she doesn't know is an alpha or shifter, or mate, and Cade the beta as a medical center in Austin. As she is turning she gets hit by a car running a red light. Here the plot stalls, and I was bored to tears. I was only 43% in and I was so over being in the hospital, rehashing and being inside everyone's head. It was entirely too long, and we would take a step forward moving the plot along only to move 2 steps back. It went on for too long.
Eventually we make it to the ranch and we get into life on the ranch with everyone after which Fiona knows about them being shifters. She's angry with Kell about him "lying by omission" which really do you expect him to tell you something that isn't typically allowed? Kinda a doubt standard there. When we get to the ranch Fiona finds out about Emma Grace and Jay a little boy of 6 who is also a shifter. And Fiona goes nuts, I was very irritated by her reaction, I was irritated that this freaked her out so much especially when she's supposedly loves to read paranormal romance novels, she should at least have accepted it pretty quickly.
Anyways the plot has some issues for me, we had the random flashbacks, then later in the book out of no where Fiona has an "inner imp" this "voice/thought" that basically yells at herself to do what she wants or to stop thinking too hard or to keep thinking too hard. It came out of no where, and I think I could have been more accepting of it if we had started out with her talking like that to herself before, but it happened in the middle of the book and out of left field as well. This book has the potential to be 4-5 stars it has lots of great characters and a good plot which is more than I can say for more menage books, however due to the issues I personally had I can't rate it higher.
Like I said usually I can overlook some spelling or grammar issues but I started noticing it right off the bat. I kept having to read a sentence over and over because I couldn't make sense of it. "Cade looked gave her the sweetest sincerest smile and nodded" is an example of the sentence I had to read and re-read. Another point in the book we had "I'm am out..." and I totally noticed that. Chief Fields becomes Chief Farris then Detective Farris which threw me for a loop. Several times passed was used in place of past and ironically past was used in place of passed. I also think that some of the internalizing and chunks of the story could be scaled down a bit, especially at the hospital.
I also found myself longing for more information about certain subjects like Emma's House it was casually mentioned in a dream but never really explained, I'd have liked Fiona or the narrator to given us some background into Emma's House and how it came about. I'd have liked to understand more about the shifters and why they had sometimes a 2-3 man to woman ratio and why they had to be brothers (sorry I'm not a huge fan of romances with brothers who are in a relationship with the same woman it weirds me out a bit). More about mates, more about the way of shifter life. Compared to other books they had a nice band of people. And at the end of the book before the last chapter I would have loved to see everyone settled in and life on the ranch and what it means and is like to be a shifter.
Overall I think the book has potential, it does have a great element and if it got cleaned up a bit it would make for a great story.
I want to thank the author for providing me this book for my open and honest opinion about this book. All opinions in this review are mine and mine alone.
Great story. Fiona is a widow and single mother to a precocious almost three year old, Emma Grace. She is still grieving her SEAL husband who died two weeks after their daughter was born. A hard working trauma nurse with few friends. The ones she has are very dear and like family. She grew up in care and works hard to give her daughter the childhood she wished she had. Declan and Caden are wolf shifters, brothers and the Alpha and Beta of their pack. They just found their mate. Their cousin Kell has been guardian to is best friend from his SEAL teams widow and young daughter. Hearing her voice on one of their check ins they know she is the one. Kell convinces Fee to come to his family ranch for a big third birthday party for Emma Grace. Fee and Emma Grace are kidnapped by hoods who her abusive stepfather owes money to. They escape and make their way to Kell and a new life. Fee struggles to let go of the past and embrace her future. Loved Fee, Declan and Caden's story. Emma Grace is adorable. Declan a true alpha with a soft heart and Caden a loveable peace maker. Loved the Pack, so many great secondary characters. A sweet, steamy, love story, with a committed MFM ménage relationship. Does deal with child physical and sexual abuse, nothing graphics and rape, which may be an issue for some.
This story touches on all of your emotions. You are crying one minute and laughing the next. I love the fact that Fiona doesn't just fall into bed with her mates. They really have to work to earn her trust and heart, which works because Fiona is a widow, still feeling the loss of her husband and she has a 3 yr old daughter to worry about. Fiona is an excellent mother and puts her daughter first in all things. I love the fact that the author kept true to that aspect of her personality. I have read too many books where the heroine is a mother and a third of the way through the book you never here from her kids again.
Fiona is a strong heroine, a fighter. She rescues herself and Emma Grace from a horrible situation. For a while you think the woman just can't catch a break, but she does. She goes from victim to survivor, tragedy to triumph, and widow to mate. The author does well introducing all the secondary characters (I suspect will all have books in the series) without detracting from the story or the main characters. There is a scene in the book between Fiona and her late husband, it is bittersweet. Fiona needs to make the decision to be with her men and the scene was an awesome way to make that happen. You believe it. I smiled and cried through the whole thing.
Emma Grace, Fiona's daughter, is precious. She has everyone wrapped around her little finger, but is a sweet well-mannered girl. I found myself wanting more. The author stays consistent with her speech patterns as well. Emma Grace has trouble saying certain words and the author never deviates from that.
The author does a great job of describing the characters and you actually find yourself picturing them as you read the story. You actually form a connection and picture them as separate distinctive people, not as characters with bland interchangeable faces.
I can't wait to read how Fiona evolves as alpha queen. I couldn't put this book down and I will read it again. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

“Me and mommy named her. Her real name is Pincess Finona Fuzzy-buttness”
This book covers a full spectrum of emotions. Meaning that it was both sweet as well as sexy and then there are some violent elements to it.
Because of the title, I initially thought that this was going to be about voodoo and witch magic and all. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This book is not about magic though there was a little bit of a fantasy element to it at the end. This book is about second chances, love, friends and family.
I have always loved reading about books with children in it. Their Cajun Queen introduced a sweet and innocent little girl that I absolutely loved reading about. I think Emma Grace brought a certain element of fun into the mix that only children can bring. She added to the story rather than simply being a convenient secondary character.
Fiona is a very strong woman, made stronger because of her daughter. She would have given up when her husband died if not for her daughter. Fiona’s past shaped her present as it made her aware of the cruel side of humans early on. Declan and Cade have their work cut out for them in winning her trust and her love but they are exactly what she and her daughter need; what they had been missing in their lives. Trust, security and love.
The author did a wonderful job with the characters and the overall story. There was some violence in it that might be difficult to read but I would recommend readers simply keep a handful of tissues nearby, take a deep breath and read on because there is so much more to this story. There was also a lot of fun and sexy and sweet moments in it that I loved. This had a good balance of both heart wrenching and heart warming. This one is for readers who want a lot of layers to their romance. A fantastic read overall
Fiona life hasn't been easy. From the time she went to foster care she had to fight. When she meets Shelly and David her world changes. Until an unexpected incident that takes Fiona husband David away from her and their daughter Emma Grace.
All goes well for three years until a person from Fiona past wants to destroy it. From Fiona fighting to get away, to a car accident. After she wakes from her injuries, she finds two handsome wolf shifter that will do everything in their power to protect her and Emma.
Emma Grace is a lil angel that has everyone under her spell even a lil boy who claims her as his mate.
Can two strong alpha and beta men break the walls that surround the woman they love. Can she see that the dates brought her a family she never had. Can Declan learn to not be the big bad wolf?
Will Fiona survive all that comes to her or will she see there is nothing to lose if you don't try.
I love spin off series!!!! The tertiary characters getting their own stories told, yet, your favorite characters from the parent series come over to visit is like a dream.
Joker became what he was out of a mother's love. But the loss of his One, nearly breaks him.
Jenni eats crow as she needs to protect an innocent. I love how love never dies and that it can heal old wounds.
New author for me but I love shifter books and this on was packed full of says, fun, laughs, heartbreaking pain loss and suffering . Beautiful healing and moving on through grief and loss...such tender scenes where you will cry, scream, rage and then peace pure peace and love!! All the characters were amazing and I can't wait for more!!
Absolutely loved this book! The action never stopped. Their Cajun Queen was fast paced but in a great way. There was lots of emotion in this story. I recommend reading alone because you will be expressing yourself throughout this story.
I really liked this story, the way that Declan and cade were patient and loving with Fiona. Also, E.G. Was the cutest little girl. However, I would have liked more information on fiona's past, and more interest between the pack members.
Feiona and Emma grace have to run for their lives after escaping a kidnapping! Watch her be confronted with her mates she never knew she had but the fates gave to her
Loved the storyline and the characters so it was hard to put down and I can't wait to read more in this series so it's a well deserved five stars and I would recommend this book to everyone
overall i really enjoyed the story .. their were a few problems .. good editing could have improved the overall book. some of it was a bit cliched and some elements just came out of left field with no background to establish their relevance to the story. i will def read more of this series
Oh geez, this book. We have a 2 year old being interviewed as a material witness, who is able to give a complete timeline of events and recount everything that was said; and who is also interviewed by the police and a bunch of non-relatives (who have no relation to the case and nearly all of them she and her mom don't even know, so they can't claim to be relatives or family friends) without her mother/legal guardian, social worker or therapist being present. Sure, Jan. This 2 year old is also precocious enough to constantly speak in complete sentences; have complete motor coordination; understand completely everything that's said to her; always obeys the first time, and generally is written more like she's around 4-5 or so. And then her dialogue is written out as baby talk throughout the book, which was so intensely twee and annoying. Then we have the tedious urban fantasy trope of throwing everything horrible at the main character: she was abused and orphaned as a child and bounced around foster homes; her first husband dies (and there is this really awful awful theme repeated a few times that he had to die so she could get together with her fated mates, and if he hadn't died, he would have had to step aside for them. Way to downgrade and crap all over the meaning of that relationship, never mind that her husband was the first person she ever trusted in her life and she's been mourning him for almost 3 years) and she's now raising a baby alone; she's kidnapped, beaten and nearly raped; gets in a car accident fleeing the kidnappers; and nearly kidnapped a second time. And the whole reason the kidnappers are after her never remotely makes any sense--her stepdad, who she hasn't seen or had contact with in quite a few years owes them money; she means nothing to her stepdad, she doesn't have a great deal of money--and the kidnappers know she's a young single mom so pretty typically a demographic that doesn't have a great deal of ready cash, but the kidnappers are relentless in going after her for payment, instead of going after her stepdad. Her injuries from the kidnapping and car accident are inconsistent in their handling. Like even when she's in the hospital they are frequently forgotten--people touching her where those injuries should be without her exhibiting pain, or she's able to do things with both arms despite a cast (and only the cast is ever mentioned, but she had surgery on it, so she'd also have incision sites and possibly even external pins). Or conversely, her injuries are made out to be much worse than they are: the doctor tells her friends that she has a concussion, lots of bruising and is in surgery for a broken arm.....and they are all terrified or crying and asking him if she's going to die. LOL. There's other major inconsistencies like minor characters' names or professions suddenly change or new characters show up as if they've previously introduced but no real explanation of who they are; or in one scene, a character is getting a foot massage and the sole of her foot stroked, and a few sentences later then takes her shoes off. And then in the last 1/3rd of the book, we suddenly hear for the first time about this charity the main character started(?)/volunteers at (it's never really clear what the charity or her involvement is) and how all these homeless kids at it mean so much to her and a few are so close they are like her family, so much so that she brings two of the kids back to her new home. Yet they had never once been mentioned previously.

There are so many elements to this book. I love the military aspect and the fact that Fee seems to need to save the world. That altruism is probably why fate has given her so much, but not without her share of struggles. The author couldn’t have created a better personality for Fee and the people who will become her family. I love E.G., she is just too cute for words and it’s amazing how resilient she is. This book has a couple triggers, but the story is one you won’t want to miss. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Was a toss up whether to give 2 or 3 stars. I decided on 3 since I did finish the book. It was actually a decent story, if a little slow in places, And it really could have used a pass or two with an editor. I liked the story enough to finally finish it but it took me two weeks, with several stops, and actually reading a dozen other books in between sections of this one. Right now I don't really know if I will read any of the other books in this series. I will definitely have to be in the right mood before tackling another one.
