Risking It All: An Alpha Playboy's Steamy Second Chance at Forever – Small Town Romance
The next heartwarming romance in T.J. Kline's Healing Harts series!
Andrew McQuaid wasn't always the local playboy. Once upon a time, he wanted to spend the rest of his life with one woman-Gia Mancuso. When he made a mistake and lost her, he decided he wasn't meant to have a happy-ever-after. Now, Gia's come back to town, with a baby in tow, and it might just mean a second chance at forever, if he can convince her that he never stopped loving her.
Ten years after leaving, Gia finds herself back in Hidden Falls. Between helping her ailing father save the family restaurant and taking care of the baby her sister left on her doorstep, she doesn't have time for the man who once broke her heart. But Andrew is all grown-up now, in every single way. And the part of her that has always been his can't quite say no to his tempting kisses.
Just when Gia begins to open her heart, a devastating secret emerges that threatens to destroy her family and any future with Andrew. Are they doomed to repeat the mistakes of their past or can Andrew convince Gia that she's always been his one and only?

A deceptively twisty set of circumstances brings us a riveting story that is ultimately about love, redemption and family in multiple configurations of that combination. Andrew has changed over the years after a broken heart – now closed off and determined to not let anyone under his skin, and then Gia returns after a long absence. Coming back to Hidden Falls was not really in Gia’s plans, she left in a rush after her engagement to Andrew was, she thought. Completely ruined. Planning to put the experience and her sister in her rear view mirror, she’d been going against type: always the reliable child, no one expected her to run. But, now with her father ill and the business needing her, she’s back with one very unusual addition – a baby.
The interplay between Gia and her sister Lorna is just gripping: always the troublemaker with no sense of responsibility, Lorna caused upheaval when the girls were younger due to her spitefulness. Now, relying on Gia to follow form and do what is right, she’s left her baby with Gia, and disappeared again. So Gia and the baby Bella leave San Diego and return to Texas, and Gia has two things on her mind: her father and his illness and repairing the damage in her family that Lorna very clearly causes and fuels. She’s not interested in Andrew –seeing him, talking to him, even accepting the apology that she feels is overdue are not on her to do list.
And then – she and Andrew are just as electric and compatible as before, with plenty of moments where he goes the extra distance to convince her that they are meant for one another, no matter what. There shouldn’t be more difficulty for the two of them – but of course, things happen and Andrew is again finding himself in a precarious position. Much could have been solved earlier had Gia been honest about why she left in the first place, and who knows if she wil ever open up and really share with Andrew And of course, there is Lorna’s influence and part to play in this story both with her jealousy of Gia and general need to disrupt her happiness and the fact that she dumped Bella, expecting someone else to raise her while she continues to bulldoze her way through life and her family.
A wonderfully complex story that will have you cheering for Andrew and Gia, adoring the baby Bella, and wanting to find a large mallet to whack Lorna about the head, repeatedly. Full of growth, compassion, those situations that only family can place you in, and how you choose to react when you discover that with love, patience and someone on your side no matter what, all things are possible.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via Edelweiss for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I adore T.J. Kline's Risking It All!
This story is not your typical misunderstanding and end of the relationship book.
Gia is the older of 2 daughter. She is the one that is smart, funny, and made something of her life. Enter Lorena, the evil sister who is flat out evil. How evil?!?! Let's just say that she leaves her newborn baby at her sister's doorstep evil! Enter Bella, the newborn baby that Lorena has given to Gia to raise, but before of all this there was Andrew McQuaid. Gia's ex fiancee. EX and why?!?! Because of Lorena. Lorena decided to tell her sister that she slept with Andrew, and Gia decided to give Andrew back his ring and was out of there. Fast forward back to the baby. Gia's Italian parents own a restaurant in the small town where she grew up. Her Father is diagnosed with a cancer, and the restaurant isn't doing so well. She decides to hit the road from her new life in San Diego, and goes home with her sister's baby, Bella to try and get things straightened out with both her parents and her sister. The only person that Gia doesn't want to see ever again is Andrew. Her world was racked after Lorena told her that she slept with her fiancee.
I HATE giving spoilers, but this book is HOT! Not just because Andrew and Gia's chemistry is on fire, but because of the tale that unfolds within a "damaged" family. At points I wanted to strangle Gia for not just being more open, but then there is Lorena...EVIL!!! And who is caught in the middle of all of this fiasco? Bella. I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to read Risking It All by TJ Kline. I recommend this book for a more intense read. No fluff here. There are all sorts of sparks flying in this book. It keeps you entertained the entire way through.

I love a good second-chance-at-love story and this one has a satisfying complexity with a satisfying conclusion. It gets my vote for best of series.

This book was trying to do a lot and while I liked it, the mother was ridiculous! I'm sure there are parents like her out there, but sheesh, I feel sorry for those kids.
The bigger issue was that Gia ever believed anything her sister said. Nobody really discusses it, but that complete lack of trust should have made Andrew NEVER want to be with her again. I was on his side in this and I felt like Gia played the martyr a little too much. She did have a lot, but some of it was her own doing so I was tired of her whining.
But there were lots of nice moments and the authors writing felt like lot of the in between stuff was rooted in reality - like she'd lived some part of this life for real. I like that kind of authentic feel.

I liked Risking It All. It may be my favorite book so far in the series. But let me get some of the things that bothered me off my chest. Speaking of chests, did you know Gia has a really, big one? So, does Andrew to go with his bulging biceps and killer smile. We know this because Ms. Kline tells us it is so early and often. Hey, I’m a guy and I love women with big boobs but I don’t need to be told about Gia’s ample chest on every other page to appreciate it. And it seems each McQuaid brother beginning with Grant followed by Ben and now Andrew transcends the previous one for the title of World’s Sexiest Man. I know these books are written for a female audience but gah, just gage me. Can’t these guys be good looking without having to have the body of a Mr. Olympia and the good looks of Brad Pitt? Then there were minor inconsistencies from the previous book Dare to Fall, Ben and Emma’s story. I love that they and Grant and Bethany from the first book along with the twins and Madie get more than a cameo appearance in this story. That’s the best part about series built around families, getting to see them all in each book. But it also creates a requirement for the author to keep consistent story lines from book to book. In the previous book, we learned Emma was a card sharp who cleaned everyone out playing poker in the family’s weekly poker game. In this book Gia figuratively kicks her butt in a game? Did she decide not to cheat? We’re told Ben now lives with his fiancée Emma at the animal sanctuary. Yet the morning after the weekly poker game Ben is sleeping in the bunkhouse before taking his next shift at the firehouse? Did he and Emma have a fight? The big thing I didn’t get with this book that IMHO went on far too long, was Gia’s doubts about whether Andrew did or didn’t sleep with her sister Laurena while they were engaged? At one point were told Laurena fesses up to Gia and admits she made it up to break her and Andrew up. But later we’re back to her wondering whether he did or didn’t. He admitted he’d hooked up with her last New Year so why would he lie about something that happened ten years earlier? And why is she so upset with Andrew for getting drunk on New Year’s Eve and letting Laurena seduce him into a one night hook up ten years after she tossed his ring in his face and has had absolutely nothing to do with him since? Maybe it’s a male female thing but to this male that seems more than a little irrational to me. We’re supposed to believe that brother Linc, the superstar country singer who is on tour filling stadiums with fans along with his bandmates is going to play not one but 3 or more benefit concerts in a restaurant that holds 400 people max. And then there’s Giat's big decision about what to do about her career. Should she return to her old life where she really doesn’t find her job or her life fulfilling despite her hard earned success, or start over in Hidden Falls helping her family run the restaurant which she clearly loves to do, which would keep he close to and help her parents (including her ailing father) out tremendously as well as keep her close to Andrew and the baby Bella whom she loves? Yeah, tough decision that. In spite of all this I really did like this book. I love the McQuaid family and each of the women that the brothers have brought into the fold. The relationship dynamics between the main characters and their families as well as between each other elevates the story from a simple romance. Even though we know Gia and Andrew will find their H.E.A. author keeps the winding road there an enjoyable page turning ride. Now I'm addicted to the series and can't wait for the next book. I'm guessing it will either be Lincoln's or Madison's.

Reunited lovers are not usually one of my favorite tropes in romance. There's often so much heartache and regret holding the characters back from acting on their desires, which can sometimes feel like constantly moving two steps forward and one step back. And memories of infidelity can completely ruin a romance for me as I'm often incapable of letting it go even when the heroine is ready to forgive and forget.
In RISKING IT ALL, Gia is under the impression that Andrew cheated on her years ago, which made me a bit standoffish towards him at first. Then it seemed that although he had been nothing but faithful to Gia while they were together, he had drunkenly hooked up with her sister, Lorena, the year prior. Although technically that would not have constituted infidelity, it would have definitely changed the respect I had for Andrew. I think T.J. Kline did a wonderful job of building tension and drama between the characters by slowly revealing new information and shifting our knowledge of events. It kept me interested in seeing what kind of guy Andrew really was and if he was worthy of the loving and self-sacrificing Gia.
I really enjoyed Gia as a character. Sometimes heroines who are so good and selfless can seem a bit naïve or flat. A goodie two shoes that you can't relate to. But Gia doesn't let others take advantage and walk all over her. She's a fighter and has passions and dreams that she goes after, even if she knows it's not what everyone else wants her to do. I really admire that both Gia and Andrew are the kind of people who put family first. It's something I could really relate to and instantly endeared me to both of them.
That Lorena, though! She's just the kind of heartless, manipulative character you love to hate. It's like she's a magnet, pulling all the hate and disgust out of you and leaving you appalled by the fact that someone could be so heinous to their own family. I grew up watching telenovelas, so the scheming, unscrupulous, tornado of a woman who destroys everything in her path is something I'm all too familiar with. She's the kind of character that inspires such a profound reaction in readers – revulsion for her actions, sympathy for the heroes, and a consuming need to see her get her comeuppance. It's characters like Lorena that fuel our hope in karmic justice and keep us glued to our seats to see good triumph over evil. It's something that, especially in the world we're currently living in, we as readers – as people – need now more than ever.
T.J. Kline writes some of my favorite small town romances and RISKING IT ALL is yet another example of why I love her work. She writes about people that make you feel things...good and bad. Books that grab you and make you fall in love with not just the heroes, but their family and friends as well. They're the kind of books that always leave you coming back for more. As soon as I finished this novel I headed straight to Amazon and purchased the two previous books in the series, which I hadn't read yet. I don't feel like my experience was at all hindered by not having read the previous books but I enjoyed it so much and wanted more of the McQuaids. If you're looking for a small town romance that will take you on a roller coaster of emotions, this is definitely one to check out.

Jealousy, enviousness, and spite in one person can change the path of everyone around them. The blindness of the loved ones can able them to keep spreading the resentment and hateful attitude. But Gia's sister, Lorena, she took it all to a new level of evilness, that made the story so realistic, too realistic at times, with the knowledge that people like her do actually live amongst us. The lies, the hatred, the manipulations, it was a never ending spiral that seemed just escalating.
Gia's mom's support of Lorena and her attitude towards Gia and Andrew made the matters even worse like there was no hope to ever solve the family drama and issues around the restaurant.
Andrew was a true hero, I really liked his character. He was honest, straight forward, responsible, considerate, and a sweet and tender father figure. Even though being wrongly accused on many occasion, he kept going on, determined that the truth would come to the light, if Gia would stop for a minute and listen and truly communicate with him. Trust him, instead of her sister, Lorena.
I understand that growing up with a person like Lorena would make it hard for Gia to trust people, but she was supposed to know Andrew, love him, know how Lorena is, yet she was willing to believe her over him again and again. I wanted to shake her or wake her up so many times while reading the story.
Gia is a dedicated, loyal, hard working woman, who would do anything and sacrifice her own future to help her family, to support her father. And Lorena was taking advantage of this.
The story is a tale about forgiveness, about learning to trust again, about growing up, taking responsibility, and falling in love. I love TJ Kline's voice as an author, she gets the emotions going, they are real and raw, and I often feel like my heart is ripped in two while reading her stories, the heartache and angst are so tangible. She twines the tale so that my feelings goes from despair to hope with one little twist in the plot, taking for a ride not easily forgotten.
Risking It All is a touching and agonizing tale. My feelings were all over the place while reading it. I was invested in the future outcome of the protagonists, and I felt their confusion and pain. The deplorable actions of the bitter Lorena felt like too much at times, I needed a lot of sweetness and adoration to balance her actions and their effect on the people around her.
This story was impossible to put down until I found out about the future of the hero and heroine, the destiny of little Bella. The uncertainty and questions were kept alive through the story, yet there was a drizzle of hope and faith through all the turbulence, that love will win at the end. What a ride, indeed!

Gia Mancuso and Andrew McQuaid were engaged ten years ago, but the lies someone told Gia set the pair on a totally different path for their future. Yet now, Gia has returned to Hidden Falls with a baby and to help her parents because they're struggling with her father's medical bills and trying to keep the family restaurant open. However, being back in Hidden Falls brings back everything that kept her and Andrew apart, especially when someone is so determined to keep them from getting back together. Will Andrew and Gia be able to overcome all the challenges they face, or will they lose their second chance at happiness?
The first two books of this series are such enjoyable reads, and this one was no different. Indeed, it was riveting, fast-paced and I loved the growing relationship between the hero and heroine, as they face some tough obstacles on their journey to happy ever after all because of someone's jealousy of Gia. Will she discover the truth about Andrew's fidelity before it's too late? Will Andrew and Gia find a way to combat the negativity thrown at them by an evil witch of a family member determined to destroy their second shot at happy ever after? Will Gia's mother discover the truth about said family member, instead of continuing to defend the bitter and jealous witch?
Both the main characters had me hooked by their back stories, their past history and the fact that they were willing to do what's right for the baby Gia has in her custody. How could Gia believe Andrew would ever cheat on her when he was so in love with her? How could she believe someone that continues to lie just to get attention? Gia was a wonderful heroine in the way she's strong, brave, selfless and determined to fight for the rights of the child in her custody. How is she going to help her family hold on to the family restaurant? Why can't the mother of the baby own up to her responsibilities? Why did the mother have the baby if she didn't want to take care of the child? Moreover, I liked that the heroine was willing to give Andrew a second chance after she begins to uncover the truth about the past and why someone doesn't want her to find happiness again with the hero.
While Andrew, he was a fantastic hero the way he's willing to do what's right for the baby in Gia's custody and how determined he is to discover the truth of why Gia broke up with him all those years ago. I also liked how far he's willing to go to help Gia's family, because of the struggles they're facing due to her father's illness. Luckily, he has a wonderful family that support him and encourage him enough to win the woman of his dreams back. They're meant to be and nothing should keep them apart, especially not someone's jealousy of the heroine all because they're not loved enough.
Overall, Ms. Kline delivered a really good read in this book where the chemistry was strong, the dialogue was intense due to the person determined to create problems for the hero and heroine and the ending left me with a smile, as Gia is determined to use trickery to get what she wants for her and Andrew instead of continuing to be ruled by the future of the baby. Will they finally get custody of the baby? However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, because of the realization Gia's mom comes to concerning a member of their family and then the surprise Gia had for Andrew. Finally, they have the life they wanted all those years ago when they were together. I would recommend Risking it All by TJ Kline, if you enjoy second chance romances or books by authors Melanie Shawn, LIzbeth Selvig, Kate Pearce or Vivian Arend.

Risking It All is basically the story of good sister vs bad sister, and an overindulgent mother, but let me start from the beginning. Gia Mancuso has a baby! Not her baby, but her reckless sisters baby, Bella! The baby her sister Lorena, abandoned after 3 days! And to top the lot, the sister whole 10 years ago, caused the breakup of her engagement, to the only man she has ever loved...Andrew McQuaid.
Andrew McQuaid was shocked to find Gia heading into Hidden Falls, with a baby! He was heartbroken when Gia left, and broke off their engagement, with no reason why! But now she is back, and wants absolutely nothing to do with him!
Gia has more stress than she knows what to do with, a mother who blames her for everything wrong in her sisters life, a father who is very sick, and a business that is failing. And just when she thinks she has found her legs, her sister comes back into town, declaring that Bella's father is Andrew....but who is telling the truth!
I have to admit, it's been many a year since I have read a TJ Kline book, but literally 2 minutes into reading Risking It All, it all came back! The eloquent writing, the beautiful storyline, and the characters that could make you fall in love in a hot beat. But I have to say the complex story between Gia and Andrew really stole it for me!
Risking It ALL is a truly beautiful and heart tugging story, that everyone should read! It can totally be read as a standalone, which is exactly what I did, but don't be surprised if you go back and read the first two books too!...which is exactly what I'm planning on doing!
I give Risking It All 5 well deserved stars!

I'm kinda surprised at how awful Gia's sister is, but Kline does an amazing job of making her believably spoiled, troubled, and self-centered. She's a truly awful person and causes a WHOLE lot of drama. While she could easily have been a little too over-the-top, she manages to work well here.
Unlike Lorena, both Gia and Andrew are hard-working, honest, family-oriented people. After their engagement went sour, Gia has been avoiding Andrew and Andrew has been avoiding his feelings :) Thrown together again when Gia is back to help take care of her father and the family restaurant, it isn't as easy to keep their distance any more. And with proximity comes the chance of fixing some old wrongs and maybe finally move on.
While there aren't a lot of surprises with how things go throughout the book, Kline is a skilled story-teller and keeps it interesting. For all of their angst and issues, I was rooting for Gia & Andrew from the first and was angry on their behalf every time they experienced a set back. They work well as a couple, when they let go of past hurts and misunderstanding, and when they finally get everything figured out I cheered a little ... OK, quite a bit. On the inside. And maybe just a bit on the outside.
*** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s. ***

It's funny how quickly I'm reminded just how much I love T.J. Kline's books. I admit that I keep missing her new releases, but it is never on purpose. I'm always looking back and asking myself how the heck did I miss the previous books. How on earth did I miss books one and two in Kline's Hidden Falls series? That will be rectified quickly, I promise you. What I loved the most about T.J.'s newest book, Risking it All, was the range of emotions she awoken in her characters and in myself . There was Gia's frustration and determination when it came to her misguided sister (and I'm putting that lightly). Then of course we have the love and joy of finding and rekindling a second chance romance. I adored Gia and Andrew from the moment he comes upon her sticky situation on the side of the road. And lastly, the sheer blinding distrust for Gia's sister. Seriously, it's been a long time since I really wanted to slap the bitch and I wanted to strangle her several times over the course of this book. From the first chapter to the very end of the epilogue, I loved each page of Risking it All.

Risking It All (Hidden Falls) by T.J. Kline
·Jealousy
What happens when your younger sister once again not only runs away from her responsibilities, but causes you MORE? You have to go back home to help sort it out. Even though you ran from there over 10yrs ago. Why does her mother not see what her sister continues to do? In her mother's eyes her sister Lorena could do no wrong, she's a farfallina, a little butterfly flitting from flower to flower. What a shocking twist at the end that I didn't see coming! I was frustrated along with Gia, but loved the entire story. To find out why you'll have to read Risking It All. Although this is the 3rd book within the Hidden Falls Series, each story is its own standalone & so worth the read! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via Tasty Book Tours through Edelweiss for an honest blog tour review. Due to sexual content this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older!

Each time I journey back to Hidden Falls, I find myself a new reason to make sure that I come back again. I love this town and the people that make it what it is. This time I have Andrew and Gia. This one was for me a bit more emotional and heartfelt. There was passion, pain, sorrow, deceit, but get this straight all this did not come from the characters you expected it to. Some did but this was a must read for me. I highly recommend it to those who have begun the series and need to follow the course. This would be a great read for someone joining in on the series. Ten years was a long time to carry pain. Ten years was a long time to feel lost, confused, rejected. Ten years take a lot of time to heal and move on. And sometimes moving on is not the answer, facing your fears becomes the best course of action. Sometime that second chance makes the difference when nothing else could.

Gia has stayed away from her hometown and family for the past 10 years, afraid of running into the one man who broke her heart and left her shattered. So of course he would be the first person she runs into when trying to sneak back into town. But she’s not here because of him. Andrew McQuaid is the last person she has on her mind right now (maybe). Her father is sick, her mother is trying to sell off the family business and she has her newborn niece in tow, trying to figure out how she’s going to survive another day with all the weight of the world on her shoulders. Gia has always been the problem solver for the family. The one who has it all together. But this time she doesn’t know if she has all the answers.
Andrew hasn’t thought of anyone else but Gia for the past 10 years. Sure he’s dated, but no one has ever come close to the love of his life. He just wishes he knew what he did that made her run and stay away. Now that Gia is back in town, Andrew is on a mission to win Gia back and make things right between the two of them. What he didn’t expect was his past mistakes to take center stage.
I loved Gia and Andrew. Their chemistry was smoking hot and being the oldest in my family, I really connected with Gia and all the pressures that were placed on her by her parents and sister and all those looking to her for the answers. There is a nice little twist to the story and I couldn’t put the book down once I dove in. Love TJ Kline and this series and can’t wait for more!

In her family, Gia Mancuso has always been known as the responsible one... her sister, not so much, and time after time Gia has been the one expected to clean up her sisters messes. But this time "the mess" forces Gia to face a hurtful past that she walked away from ten years ago, and the wounds from it are still a little raw. Returning home to Hidden Falls is something Gia usually tries to avoid, but now that she has found herself the guardian to her sister's newborn daughter, and the livelihood of her families restaurant on the verge of collapsing, she doesn't really have a choice other than to return home and face the music. But once she is there she realizes that this 'little mess" left behind by her sister is far bigger than she initially expected, and it has her depending on a man she never thought she would put her faith in again...
Andrew McQuaid has spent the last ten years of his life trying to rid his mind and heart of memories of a certain dark haired beauty, but no matter how many dates he has been on she always finds a way to remain a constant in his life. He has yet to meet a single woman who could even come close to comparing to her, and it kills him to know he may never find that again. So, when he learns that she is returning home to help her family he knows this is fate telling him that this is his one and only shot to right the wrongs of the past, now he just has to figure out a way to get her to talk to him. Maybe, just maybe, he can convince her to give him a second chance to prove that they were meant for one another, but before he can even start to work himself back into her good graces her deviant sister decides to throw a wrench in his plans...
This beautifully crafted story of forgiveness and undying love packed a serious punch, it didn't take long for it to seep into my soul and start toying my emotions, page after page I found myself struggling to digest all that these two endured, and moved by every bit of it. Gia and Andrew lured me into their world, had me completely captivated by chapter two and by the third I knew that there was no way in hell I was walking away until I had devoured every last word. With every set-back that they faced I began to wonder if they would ever get to a place where they could just let go and let love lead them back to where they belonged, and without giving to much away I will just say have faith my friends. I have to say with each new installment in this series I'm finding that I am continually surprised and beyond impressed with what I find, just when I think I have found my favorite, Ms. Kline ups her game and has me changing my mind!! This is hands down one of the best reads I have settled down with this year, and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next!!
Highly recommend you meet the McQuaid's, their stories will leave you inspired, renew your faith in the power of love, and curl your toes... all in one shot!!

We learn that Andrew does not have a high performance in cold water, “darlin’,” he drawled, “that water is freezing, and I seriously doubt I could . . . uh . . .” He leaned his forehead against hers. “. . . perform at my own high standards,” he finished." I loved this book, I love small town romances, what I didn't like was Gia's sister I hope she gets what's coming to her.
