Barbro Gunilla Kristina Brorsson Wolde was a Swedish writer and illustrator. She wrote and illustrated several series of books for small children, including the picture books about Totte ("Tommy" in the English translations) and Emma ("Betsy"). The books about Totte and Emma have been translated into 14 languages.
My 2,5 year old daughter got this for christmas, and we had to read it right away because she is her mother's daughter ;) She really loves Totte. And has a lot of fun at the end pages that are full of little pictures of his head.
The story is very straightforward and describes a normal child check-up at the doctor's office and ends up at Totte's home where he plays doctor with his teddy. We go through all the normal doctor instruments and a vaccination. My daughter especially likes when Totte is allowed to play with the doctor's stethoscope and the noises that are described.
The book is a little old, but it seems to be timeless. It is a classic and seems a very good way to introduce a child to the concept of visiting the doctor. In my oppinion Gunilla Wolde succeeds in writing from a child's perspective with very few simple sentenses.
I remember this one from my own childhood so when my daughter came runing with it we had to read it together. She loves it and we've read it multiple times. A nice read.
Kotona Teemu leikkii itse lääkäriä nallen toimiessa potilaana.
This was one of my favorite books as a child and now my daughter loves it too!. It makes going to the doctor not so scarey. A staple book in every home.
