People widely considered Asimov, a master of the genre alongside Robert Anson Heinlein and Arthur Charles Clarke as the "big three" during his lifetime. He later tied Galactic Empire and the Robot into the same universe as his most famous series to create a unified "future history" for his stories much like those that Heinlein pioneered and Cordwainer Smith and Poul Anderson previously produced. He penned "Nightfall," voted in 1964 as the best short story of all time; many persons still honor this title. He also produced well mysteries, fantasy, and a great quantity of nonfiction. Asimov used Paul French, the pen name, for the Lucky Starr, series of juvenile novels.
Most books of Asimov in a historical way go as far back to a time with possible question or concept at its simplest stage. He often provides and mentions well nationalities, birth, and death dates for persons and etymologies and pronunciation guides for technical terms. Guide to Science, the tripartite set Understanding Physics, and Chronology of Science and Discovery exemplify these books.
Asimov, a long-time member, reluctantly served as vice president of Mensa international and described some members of that organization as "brain-proud and aggressive about their IQs." He took more pleasure as president of the humanist association. The asteroid 5020 Asimov, the magazine Asimov's Science Fiction, an elementary school in Brooklyn in New York, and two different awards honor his name.

Ein zarter Hauch von Kipni:
Für mich die beste Geschichte in der Zusammenstellung. Klar ist die Botschaft von „anstatt an Verlorenem festzuhalten, warum nicht Neues umarmen“ nicht sehr subtil, aber dennoch ist die Aussage schön und schön erzählt.
Wer sein Fett abkriegt…:
Lustigerweise ist diese Geschichte heute aktueller den je. Prohibition für Butter und Eier, der Gesundheit wegen. Und natürlich gibt es wieder Speak-Easys.
Schuld:
Nach einer Tat tut es so manchem leid, warum also nicht automatisch künstliche Schuldgefühle erzeugen um damit eine Tat im Vorhinein zu verhindern? Die Idee ist hervorragend, die Ausführung für mich leider etwas seltsam gestaltet.
Der Blick für Details:
Eine Unsterblichkeitsstory im Noir-Gewandt. Nicht aussergewöhnlich, aber hat was.
Platinen-Therapie:
Ein schnell gewachsener Klon verarbeitet mit Hilfe einer KI den Tod seines im zugewiesenen Freundespaares. Ja ich glaub so könnte man es sagen. Allerdings kann ich das ganze Konzept der Story nicht wirklich plausibel finden. Schon, dass der Klon die Aufsicht über das verwaiste Kind der Freunde erhält ist unglaubwürdig, vor allem weil die schlussendliche Erkenntnis zu sein scheint, dass der Klon sich gewahr werden muss, dass er selbst gewissermaßen mit seinen Freunden auch seine Eltern verloren hat.
Ein einmaliges Ereignis:
Eine etwas seltsame Geschichte. Die Beobachtung einer zum Untergang geweihten Alien-Kultur ist tragisch und die Alien-Physiologie und Kultur faszinierend. Dass die Beobachter vor lauter "Einfühlen", aber mitunter den Verstand verlieren kann ich nicht ganz nachvollziehen.

3 gute Stories machen die Collection überdurchschnittlich gut
Gefallen haben die Storys von:
Mildred Downey Broxon über einen Xenologen und eine Astronomin, die ein Sonnensystem besuchen, das kurz davor ist, von einem schwarzen Loch zerstört zu werden.
Die von Nancy Kress über einen Künstler der neuen Generation von Kolonisten, der nicht länger die Tradition der alten Erde pflegen will, sondern die Nebelwelt schön findet.
Jesse Peel: über einen Privatdetektiv, der dem Geheimnis einer mysteriösen Frau auf die Schliche kommt, doch sie ist ihm weit voraus.
Die restlichen Geschichten gefielen mir nicht besonders, aber 3 sehr gute in einer Collection sind bemerkenswert.
Gefallen haben die Storys von:
