Cale & Mickey #2

Hart of His

Rate this book
(Alternate cover edition for ASIN B01M9HDE4H)

Moving in with Mickey Hart has taught me a few lessons.

523 square feet is really f*cking small. Sharing a bathroom is the worst idea ever when you’re a damn paraplegic. Never lie, no matter what. And one more thing...

I'm madly in love with this girl.

Warning: Strong language, mature content, drama, and angst included. Shirt sold separately.

This novella is an adult contemporary romance featuring a disabled hero who (still) happens to be a rich and sexy alpha male with a potty mouth.

Romance with wounded heroes, disabled characters, alpha males, and angst.

Annie doesn’t like long walks on the beach, getting dolled up, or fairy-tale endings with a boringly perfect hero. She’d much rather be rock climbing, shooting guns, or ending on real love with a deliciously imperfect hero. And hugs. She likes hugs.

She also has a B.Sc. in Biology and feels kinda sorta weird referring to herself in the 3rd person.

Hey, just noticed that today is Friday the 13th. *Cue psycho music*
What does this have to do with my review? Absolutely nothing. It just gives me an excuse to drink a Bloody Mary for breakfast while I write this.

So, this novella is set after the first book, but it's not really a story exactly. Yes, events happen, but that's not really the point. This book is more about getting into the head of our paraplegic hero, Cale. We had glimpses into his thoughts in the first one, but here we get indepth. And, ya know, if things were too hunky-dory when there is a paraplegic man moving in with a healthy marathon running girl who has never lived with someone disabled, I don't think I would buy it. Even with two able-bodied people, moving in together takes a LOT of adjustment. A LOT.

For instance, my husband has a tendency to be a bit messy. I like things clean. Did this cause a lot of resentment and arguing? Well, okay to be honest, no, but that's because I am actually super easy-going in real life. All of my anger comes out in my reviews so there is nothing left to vent when he's around. But, a normal couple would have major growing pains and "she" might even decide to stuff a dirty sock from the floor into his mouth when he is sleeping. Of course, I have never secretly fantasized about this. Never.

And, I like to stay up half the night and sleep late during the day whereas the hubs is a morning person and gets bored waiting for me to wake-up on the weekends. Does that make him pissy? Okay, no, but that's because he is unbelievably easy-going too. We're weirdos, okay? We've been married almost 23 years and have probably only had three fights. So, I guess my examples are terrible. But, those three fights were in the early years, so... yeah, adjustments to living together are needed.

The physical limitations and needs are very unique for Cale. And, Micky sees him as this "hero", so he doesn't want to show her any weakness. Obviously, this house of cards is going to fall.

Everyone has a limit. Everyone has a breaking point.

Even Batman.

Dreams crushed...

I really liked reading about the challenges this couple faced, and especially seeing it from Cale's POV. It wasn't always pretty, but it felt real. I also love Annie's writing style. She has a unique style that really pulls you into the mind of the characters. It really makes me feel invested in this couple. I want things to work out. I care about them. So, I obviously can't wait for the next book.

Everyone has a limit. Everyone has a breaking point. Even Batman.
That's the problem with loving a superhero, especially one who works alone

I have decided that I am never missing a book by Annie Arcane again. Like even if she writes total shit (which she won't) I would actually read it. Because even if she wrote shit, you know what would be there in her books? Awesome humor

"Are you just going to stand there?" I retorted tersely.
"Would it make you feel better if I sat down

I don't know why but this made me crack up like a dying hyena.

Anyway, this book is the sequel to Hart broken, a book about a paraplegic hero and a girl who just can't stop loving him. Since this is my first series containing a paraplegic, I try to read these books with an open mind. Plus, it's an added bonus that Annie's paraplegics are super hot (and super stubborn) but oh well, who cares when Cale has a heart breaking smile.

Hart of his continues where Hart broken left off; Mickey and Cale are happy and in love until Cale starts having pains in his back and suddenly gets embarrassed in front of Mickey due to his condition. What I totally loved about this book is how Annie's is trying to show that being in a wheelchair does not make you incompetent and you should never let people think that either
I could actually start to understand how people who are paraplegic all over the world feel when they have to pee using a tube or when they can't even properly make love with their partners. And I think Annie is trying to show that they are as much capable of everything as we are, maybe even more. So basically where Hart broken focused more on Mickey's past and how she felt, Hart of his tells us Cale's side of being in a relationship with someone you can view as above you just because they can walk on two legs. It's about Cale deciding that he can't just let his insecurities keep him from being with Mickey and that she definitely loves him for who he is. Which made me love Mickey even more.

Mickey: "Better together, remember?"
I gave an exasperated sigh and muttered, "we might go down in flames together".

I need the next book so badly :(

I felt like I was shot through the heart and author Annie Arcane is to blame as she tells a frustratingly beautiful and sweet tale of what real love is, warts and all. Cale is a workaholic, a man with a heart of gold and list of frustrations a mile long. He is a paraplegic, but he loves with all he has, to the point of pushing away the one woman he cannot live without. Oh, and he might just be a little bit of a pig-headed man-child, too.

Mickey is a force to be reckoned with. Sure, she has flaws, but her nearly limitless compassion, patience and love for Cale is simply heart-melting and rivaling with the saints…okay, maybe she isn’t quite ready for sainthood, but still…

Clearly, Annie Arcane is not afraid to turn the world of contemporary romance on its ears as she steps onto another path less followed as she takes one man damaged emotionally and physically and shakes him up with the unconditional love of a very strong woman who refuses to give up on who and what her heart sees when Cale is around. Ms. Arcane’s frank handling of some of the issues surrounding life as a paraplegic and being wheelchair bound is extremely well done, especially when told from Cale’s viewpoint. I was so invested I wanted to put them both in a time out until they could say I’m sorry and I love you!

A chaotic jumble of love, tension need with a dash of reality tossed in! I was enraptured by HART OF HIS from the first page to the last, because this is what love is all about, the good, the bad and the walls that are broken down.

Actual Rating: 5

So I read Hart Broken six months ago, and it was a book that completely tore apart my heart, stomped on it, and put it back together again. Cale and Mickey's journey was so much more than a love story, and I was ever so excited to read a little bit more about them.

This book did not disappoint. Firstly, let me just say that if you're looking at the description and thinking, "92 pages? Please, what could go wrong?"
Well, here is my response:

You're in for a wild ride. Hart of His reveals the ups and downs of Mickey and Cale's relationship, and it reminds all of us that happy ever afters aren't always so easy. Reading the story from Cale's point of view really gave me more insight into his character, and man, I only fell in love with him even more.

Obviously this is a novella, and the story isn't as fleshed out. This book feels a bit more like a collection of chronological scenes, instead of a continuous stream, but nevertheless, it was executed well and still felt like puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly. For 92 pages, the plot is extremely packed with emotion, tension, and obstacles that made both the characters and the story itself feel that much more real.

Annie's writing is once again captivating, beautiful, hilarious, and unique - all in one. It was so easy to fall into the minds of the characters, and the dialogue and thoughts were all so witty and hilarious.

Overall, this was a great reading experience - short, but memorable. If you read Hart Broken and loved it, definitely read this. If you haven't yet, well start that right now - you won't regret it!

I picked up this book and read it in one sitting simply because it's the sort of book you can't put down until you've finished. There is just no way to stop once you've started. Cale... yeah. He's the sort of protagonist that drives you wild because the gorgeous man can be as sweet and loving as he can be stubborn and pigheaded. Because you cannot get enough of him while at the same time, you want to smack him upside the head. And Mickey... flawed and beautiful Mickey was as always a pleasure to read. I loved this story simply because you find yourself pulled in so many directions. Simply because you can't help but love these characters and their story. It was mostly from Cale's POV, which I loved. But I also wanted more of Mickey. I missed her and I missed her life. I missed her friends and her work. I'm hoping we get more of that in the next one. I'm hoping we get the backstory on Dixon Rush (good name BTW) and what's going on with Cale's work that has him practically living in the office. I need more!

The angst, the anger at his own condition and the world came through loud and clear. This installment, and it is an installment rather than a fleshed out plot, felt choppy and uncoordinated in places. Although I love internal thoughts in a book, the amount between dialogue had me scrolling back and forth to refresh my memory of the actual conversation/action.
I remember admiring Cale in the first book, but in Mickey's words, he's a butthead in this one.

He's working himself to death, pushing people away, but we don't really know why.

In order to get past the 'why the hell is she staying with this butthead?' you'll need to have read book 1. The way he pushes Mickey and his brother away really makes you want to know WHY they are bothering except because they feel sorry for the guy in a wheelchair. Which would make Cale turn purple. He's defensive, argumentative, rude and downright unpleasant. Then says 'sorry' hoping that will fix everything.
Do I want to read the next one? Yes, Annie's portrayal of angst is epic, but probably only to work out what was going on in this one!

When I finished Hart Broken I was hungry for more of Mickey and Cale's story and this little morsel does not disappoint.

As a novella, I think this was a well executed story, but I'm greedy and I wanted more! I would've loved for this to be a teensy bit longer with a little more development of some of the plot points: What was the big project / contract that had Cale so work-worn and distracted? Why was it so important? What is the history between Cale and Dixon Rush? And how did Dixon know anything about Mickey's past?

PS: I'm looking forward to whatever angst Dixon causes in future installments. He may be a jerk face, but he has my attention piqued.

Bravo Annie and thank you for another great read!

Another win for Arcane! Hart of His was one of those bendy, twisty affairs, which also perfectly describes my emotions as I read this. Cale and Mickey's relationship deepens and endures and it was amazing, as a reader, to see those little mannerisms and nuances that all couples go through as they become solidly connected. That's an aspect of this book that I feel the author got exactly right and it became sort of a reward for people like myself who have read the first book. Just like with Hart Broken, the writing style is snappy, electric and machine gun stacato. This made it feel like I was reading a really juicy diary and not a novel, which is so much more engaging. I dare you to read this and not feel exactly like Cale in every situation. When he hurts you hurt, when he loves you love. Hello?! That is the definition of escapism as far as I'm concerned! I would love to see more of Cam or other people from Cale's life as it tells you a lot about people when you see them in different setting, plus Cam seems like he's more than just a side character somehow. I liked his scenes in Hart of His. But these aren't criticisms, lol, just wishes. I'm excited about the third book in the series - my fingers are crossed for a wedding!!

I received an ebook of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Annie Arcane!

Who knew a novella could make me feel so much. This was the second instalment of Mickey and Cale's story, and although short, it is utterly entrancing and touching.

What could go wrong in a relationship where both parties are incredibly hard headed? Yup, I kept muttering "Idiot" and "Poop Face" under my breath as I was reading. Yup, I totally physically engages with the book. I spoke to my phone without Siri on.

The amount of love Mickey and Cale have for each other is simply beautiful. The way Mickey takes care of Cale, even when he refuses to, really really really gives me the warm and fuzzies all over.

I'm super intrigued about Rush! Ahh so many questions! Who is he? How does he know about Mickey? Why is Cale wary of him? So many unanswered questions!

I was so touched by this story yet again, and I am slightly - okay I'm lying - REALLY excited for book three!!!

Excellent, once again!

Oh man, so much goodness in this book. I wanted more. So much more, especially of Cale. There's just something about him that makes you love him and want to smack him behind the head for acting the way he does sometimes. I guess that's why Mickey loves him so much.

It was really cool to see more about his disability and the way Mickey treats him like nothing is wrong with him. The best. I love that.

The only part that kept me scratching my head was who the heck is Dixon and what's the problem with him. I can't wait for book three to find out!

4.5 stars!

There’s no one like Annie Arcane in romance land today. Her writing style is unique and fresh. So unique and fresh, in fact, that it might not be for everyone. Folks who are content with genre norms might not dig her style. But for the rest of us? It’s a totally entertaining breath of fresh air. And those of us who “get” her will be fans for life.

So, in Hart Broken, Cale met Mickey, and she was kind of a mess. He pretty much had to put her back together again. And in Hart of His, it’s time for Mickey to return the favor.

I won’t give away too much of the storyline, but throughout the whole book, Cale is pretty much riding the struggle bus. The accident that left him paralyzed has taken a toll on his confidence even more than it appeared to have in Hart Broken. This time around, Mickey was the glue that held them together, which is a 180 from Hart Broken.

While I was glad to see that Mickey had grown up a little this time around (she was MUCH more likeable in this book), it was hard to see Cale so beaten and broken. There were times that I really missed the confidence and swagger (so to speak) he had in Hart Broken. I’m hoping to see him get back to normal in the next book.

But, minor gripe notwithstanding, this was another great read from a genre trailblazer. I highly recommend it for all open-minded readers who are for an outside-the-box book.

Why would a book in a series I enjoy, with characters I like only get a 3? I've been trying to figure this review out for days now, and here is what I've come up with:

- It's close being a better book. If I break it down to the plot points and the actual story -- I'm all in. It ticks the right boxes. BUT being that close makes the negatives stand out more for me.

- Too much was left unsaid. Not unsaid by the characters, unsaid by the author. More than once I had to read reread sections to figure out who was talking and/or what was being talked about. I think the author knew exactly what was happening in some scenes, but as a reader I was left unsure.

-The inconsistent tense and choppy writing style still bothered me.

-Even knowing it was a novella I was frustrated that it didn't seem like a real ending. More like the end of a chapter, not a story.

Overall I really do like Mickey and Cale and their story, but I think the novel/novellas need a strong editor to go through with a red pen and ask questions like "who is saying this?", "we need more info about this...","why is this character important?" etc.

I'm most critical of books with potential, especially ones that deal with topics and characters I find the most interesting.

I will still be reading the next book in the series!

Read because of an online review of Hart Broken (Cale & Mickey #1) which was listing novels in a "best reads....." category. Not one of my favourite best reads even though well written. I read the whole series only because of Cale & Mickey 2-4 were short.

The thing I love the most about this book and the first one , is that am somehow always surprised when I hit the last page .. like idc I want more ❤
I love it
August 1, 2017

Wow – there are many thoughts swirling in my mind after I finished that book . First and most important - I did not want that story to end. It felt special – not just because of the characters but also because of the writing style.

I am careful when it comes to comparisons. Often I read lines like “if you liked book “x” you are going to love book “y” which basically compares writing styles or authors directly. And once I finished reading book “y” I felt there was nothing similar about the books. More often than not it left me kind of angry or disappointed. Which resulted in maybe unfair reviews? or undeserved critic? For the book in question. If that is true though I will never know because who knows what would have happened if I had read that specific book without having a certain expectation that was based on that comparison.

And here is a gem about those comparisons .. LUCKY for this book … I read the comparison AFTER I read the book “Fans of Me Before You and Flowers from the Storm will appreciate this” – Seriously ? Comparing this book to “Me Before You” leads readers to a totally different Idea and considering the how the plotline develops. Lets say “Even though I loved Me Before You – it destroyed me in a way that I most probably would have never picked up this book if I had read THAT comparison before”. ( I do not know the other book and the only thing that I take from this comparison is that I will check what that other book is about *lol*)

As you can imagine there is a BUT and here it comes. There are tons of Genres and even after decades of reading (yeah I am THAT old #laughing) and years of reviewing I find it hard to understand some of the genre titles out there so sometimes it is easier to compare a book/author to another book/author to give other readers an better understanding of the genre. And this is one of those cases because the authors that write this style are few and far in-between. Actually only one comes to my mind and that is Ruth Madison and her writing style is totally different.

I love tortured / disabled leads / heroes – and the moment when I discover an new author that writes in that genre its like Christmas to me. And I just had my Christmas in July- and YES I am super serious about that.

Most reviewer recount a book plot and add their thoughts to it in their reviews. I am more of a “voicing my feelings” kind of a reviewer. But reading this book I honestly almost felt TO (insert swearword ) much…. And I usually do not quote from books in my reviews but with these books I feel the need to share with you the depth of feelings … I think this one is my favorite amongst others from the first book.

The morning after never looks anywhere near as beautiful as the night before. Sometimes, it’s downright ugly. Because you can finally see everything. The cracks in the foundation. The shattered pieces. The old scars. The fresh wounds. The bloodshed. The carnage. And trust me, hearts don’t break without carnage. A lot of freakin’ carnage. And you just want to run. Because you don’t want to look… But it’s the only way that you can assess the damage.

I felt that need so much that when I noticed on goodreads that there were no quotes yet saved for this series I stopped writing this review and started copying from my kindle notes all sorts of marks I made just so that fellow readers will be able to get an idea what they will be facing while reading this story….

The writing style of this book is so unique … I admit it confused me sometimes because it took a second to find out who was talking to the reader but the way it was written was just mind-blowing …

Trying to come up with something I did not like – well the only thing that comes to my mind is the length of part 2-3-4. If I may be honest I am not a fan of those novella sized books – she should have simply told the bundled the story to 2 books … OR she is willing to write another 200 pages I would not mind a 3 book …. #laughing

I hope this author will continue this way of writing for a long time and I hope to read many more books from her…. OH and Ms. Arcane in case you read this – here comes a line you will not hear often from me in a review because I never have enough hours for the pile of books I am requested to review …

DEAR AUTHOR… if you ever need someone on your ARC reading team or even an Beta Reader (but I only do timeline and plot checks no editing) … please contact me … I would love to apply for that job …

Hart of His, a novella and the second book in the Hart series, focus is Cale. The book is a very quick read that has me conflicted regarding the hero, Cale Windermere. The reason is his change from book one. My head is spinning because I ended Hart feeling Cale is a strong man who wants a relationship. His handicap is secondary to the man’s inner strength and personality. Everyone deals with a disability differently but there is one truth that I’ve always found is a good person is a good person, and a jerk will always be a jerk.

In the first book, Cale is a good person. He is a little insecure in his relationship, even though Mickey shows him repeatedly that she sees the man, not the chair. In this book, Cale is an asshat, there isn’t any other description for him. His inner dialog says he loves Mickey but his actions push her away. Mickey find someone who appreciates you. Give him a taste of his own medicine.
Don’t get me wrong, there is still a lot to like about this book.

What I like:
I love the heroine. Mickey is a very strong, loving woman who gives more than 100 percent to Cale. At this stage of the relationship, she is willing to share her shortcomings and work to make a commitment. We learn in the first book about her demons that she confronts regularly especially in her nightmares.

The story is well written and holds my interest. The many facets of Cale come across well and credibly. Cale, the hero, is a paraplegic. His disability is depicted realistically. The reader can experience life from his perspective and understand what hurdles a paraplegic must confront.

I like Cale’s family although they weren’t in this segment too much. They are supportive and I hope they come back again. I like that this chapter ends hopefully and not a cliffhanger per se.

My concern:

Cale Windermere! The reader is mostly in Cale’s head, but I don’t understand him. I can’t wrap my head around his actions toward Mickey and his when she leaves the bed at night. She is open with him about her past, and she is working through her issues. His reactions are so off that I want to slap him. It seems to me that he needs to understand a little more.

What I like about the first book, and what I think is missing moving to the short novella format, is the interaction of these two complex characters and their development individually and as a couple. At the end of the first book, there is relationship development as the heart of the story. The complexity of the characters and their individual development is the core of the beginning of this couple’s story. It is authentic and real.

In this novella, I don’t suffer with Cale. Granted there are some explanations but they aren’t presented in a way to make me feel. Cale wants Mickey. He wants Mikey to share her problems, issues, etc. but he doesn’t want her to see his struggle. Reading his thoughts is like some disinterested third-party relaying information.

I miss getting Mikey’s perspective and feelings. Book one ended with her baring all. Now we pick up with Cale still angry. Is he going to bend at all? Does he want Mikey to leave? I want more romance and acceptance. At a minimum I want Cale to bend and the ending isn’t bending in my opinion. If he can’t do that then let her move on. There isn’t any warmth or love in his actions.

I admit my concerns are directly related to my aversion to serials, especially when they are released in these short little snippets. There isn’t enough time to experience the conflict and who the hell is Dixon. This character comes out of left field without any background. We know both Cale and Mickey know him. He isn’t a good person, and he is going to be trouble. Why did he pop up now?

I’ll end by saying some of my favorite fictional characters I dislike and then they grow on me. There is a lot of potential for the series to be great. Cale is the first character that I love in the beginning and then turn on him during his part of the story. That said I am anxious to see how Annie will redeem Cale. I believe this Hart series will be very successful when the story is complete.

Short but powerful!

I loved Hart Broken and enjoyed this one even more. Cale is still a stubborn alpha male, which is what made him attractive to begin with. Moving in together has put a strain on their relationship and Mickey is the glue that not only holds them together but also makes them stronger as a couple.

My only complaint is the bomb dropped near the end of the first book hasn't been addressed or mentioned yet. I really hope this will be explored in the third book because it's next on my TBR list and I can't wait to dive in!

Hart of His is the second novella in the Hart series by author Annie Arcane. If you read my previous review of Hart Broken, you already know I fell in love with main character Cale Windemere! This novella is told from Cale’s point of view, two months after moving in with Mickey. It’s short but definitely jam-packed with good stuff and provides an even more in-depth look into Cale. The story sort of jumps back and forth over the course of a few weeks, outlining arguments, breakthroughs and a variety of moments between Cale and Mickey. Mainly, the reader gets to know Cale better and develops a better understanding of his feelings and fears of inadequacy related to being a paraplegic.

Cale spends a lot of this novella apologizing to Mickey, and rightfully so. He loses his temper, gets grumpy, gets mad – but all of it is directly related to himself and not her. Mickey demonstrates patience and love unlike any I’ve ever seen as she tries to strengthen the bond between her and Cale without overstepping his boundaries, but she also clearly hits her limits with him at times.

I mentioned in my review of Hart Broken that I was not a fan of Cale’s twin brother, Cam, however, that changed while reading Hart of His. I realized that as obnoxious as Cam is, he shows up with honest concern and care when it matters. He still made plenty of jokes at Cale’s expense, but this time it seemed less malicious, possibly because of a bonding moment with Cale trying to get in and out of his truck!

Annie Arcane’s writing was once again very first person and almost more like providing a private screening of what goes in within Cale’s mind. Although I’m often the queen of long and complex sentences, I continue to enjoy her short sentences that are quick and to the point. There were a few times I was confused about some of the events that happened, as when I read the first novel, but again I think that’s more of her writing style and strategy allowing the reader to formulate their own conclusions without getting too detailed about personal/bodily issues that Cale faced.

Obviously, I haven’t said much about the plot itself, but I can’t without providing spoilers! Once you have read Hart Broken, grab a copy of Hart of His and get to know Cale better. It was just as fabulous as the first book and left me so incredibly eager for the 3rd installment, Hart of Hers. I am counting the days until the fabulous Annie Arcane emails me letting me know that I FINALLY get to read it

I generally don't read short stories because they often lack the in depth emotions, plot and the fully developed characters. I had read Hart Broken #1 and really enjoyed it, so since this was a continuation of their story, I took it. I was far from being disappointed by this 5 star novella.

I really loved it because it had an hint of intrigue to it. It captivated my undivided attention until the very end and then, I wanted more. In my opinion, what makes a story standout, are the characters. I admired the strong willed, never back down Mickey. Cale is a very stubborn man who wants to do everything by himself since he's paraplegic and can be an A....le at times with a potty mouth. Mickey doesn't let him push her around. She's loving and forgiving but she makes him beg for it.

The storyline was sort of suspenseful because I was left with doubts and intrigued. It just fuelled my passion to want to continue reading and then wanting more. It's a sweet love story with struggles. I got to feel what they were feeling. Bottom line is that I want more.

This part can't be read without reading book 1 first. Go grab part 1 and then jump into this one, I promise the readers won't regret it.

I was provided with an ARC copy in return for an honest review.

I loved the first book in this series. The subject, the detail, the writing style and the character development were amazing. I found this novella somewhat confusing and sometimes hard to follow; I wasn't sure if the inner dialogue was Cale or Mickey. I still loved the subject, the realism of living with a disability and the writing, however. Ms. Arcane brought Cale's feeling alive. I missed not knowing more about what Mickey was actually thinking or feeling and her motivation behind her reactions (or lack of) to Cale's behaviour. And what's with Dixion? Definitely left me hanging and needing more of Cale and Mickey's story.

I read the first one a year ago so to be fair don’t remember a lot from it so could do with reading it again. I found this book a bit confusing and frustrating:

Cale’s POV was too much soppy for me. Yes yes we get it she is amazing now can we move on.

I felt like there were pages stuck together. When did they move in together? What was the accident about? When did it happen? What happened when he met Jerkface? Why couldn’t she trust him? How did they “break up”? Who paid for the upgrade for the hotel? Had she flown somewhere else and he’d flown to see her?

Basically I felt like it read like I’d taken naps and missed bits. It feels more like an outline to be filled out into a story. I have two more to go.

I loved this story as much as the first. For most of the story I couldn't help but laugh. I know that it may sound mean, but come on. Seriously. Who wouldn't laugh seeing the big alpha male getting bossed around by the little girl. I do feel sorry for the buy and feel for him when Micky shuts down on him. What I really would have loved though would to have been a fly on the wall when Annie was asking her friends questions for this book. I know their insights probably helped make the story as great as it is, but I'd have loved to see their faces reactions and that's just guessing at what she asked from what I just read. I know the 3rd book will probably be even better.

This is a continuation of Cale and Mickey’s story…which leads to another one, so hang on folks, it’s a bumpy ride!! Annie’s writing is unique and dare I say quirky? She enjoys torturing her readers through the hills and valleys of a relationship, however the drama that occurs is completely believable and enjoyable. When this one ended, I felt like I was suspended at the top of the roller coaster before it proceeds down the first hill. It’s still not moving…..get on the next book Annie!!!

Wow. That was a fast read. I absolutely love these characters and they way they interact with each other. Book 2 was good (I preferred Book 1 as it was more of a build up of their relationship), but this was very enjoyable.
