In this diary of a year in her garden, Lys de Bray mingles observations on the plants and wildlife around her with suggestions for interesting plant combinations, helpful tips on plant propagation and care and fascinating snippets of plant history and folklore. It's written in a very accessible style that is not intimidating for a novice gardener, while the breadth of her knowledge means that more experienced gardeners will also find many points of interest. The book is liberally illustrated with de Bray's beautiful botanical watercolours and her pen and ink and pencil sketches. Recommended to anyone with an interest in gardening or botanical art. Definitely one to keep.

Detailed writing through the year of the flowers and plants in her beautiful garden. I didn't read it to get information about gardening but to enjoy the art of gardening instead with such beautiful illustrations through the book to add to it.
