I look her body up and down as I circle her.
Mine?
I smile a devious, deviant, I’m gonna make you sorry you ever started playing this game with me smile.
And then I take her hand.
I lead her to the elevator.
We go up to my apartment.
I tie her wrists together with rope.
Raise her arms above her head.
And chain her to the ceiling.
It’s my turn.

J.A. Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.

After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.

So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.

She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.

Huh. This was a complete and utter fail.

Too much drama, too little passion and romance. And the manner in which Nadia became enmeshed in the game was convoluted and unbelievable.

Full review to come.

Genre: Erotic Romance/Suspense
Type: Book 3 of Turning series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Elias (Bric) Bricman thrived on playing games. After losing his two best friends who found their individual happiness, Bric was on his own. That was until two new players roped him back in.

Jordan Wells was not new to the scene. Having watched and played with Bric, he thought his new plaything Nadia Wolfes was perfect for both of them. New players, new game. Each one of them wanted to be the one in control without realizing they all have something to lose.

"I’m the top, you’re the bottom. You exist to please me. And when you please me, I please you.”

I had expectations for Bric. I was hoping he'd finally shine in his element, but he didn't seem to be the star in his own book. I didn't think he was portrayed in a positive manner.

I decide to enjoy it. Everything. Every man. Every mouth. Every finger inside me. Every tongue on my skin. I take every bit of it and picture Bric’s face as I give in.

I appreciate the fact that Nadia was different than the previous female characters. It added freshness to the series. However, I had issues with her since the beginning. I couldn't connect with her and her motive.

Jordan was a slimeball in previous book. I like seeing a different side of him in this one.

I had problems with book 1 and 2, but I still wanted to give this book a chance because of what happened at the end of last book. It gave me hope of something different on this one. Yes it's different, but it didn't really worked for me because it felt like things happened without strong reason/purpose and major detachment issue between the two main characters.

Jordan’s dick is sliding past mine as we fuck her, finding our own rhythms until his becomes mine, and we are in sync. I pull out as he pushes in. He pulls out as I push in. Perfection.

The good thing is the sex scenes were hot. A lot of teasing of my preferred specific ménage sequence, but it's ok because the one that actually happened enough to keep me satisfied lol!

His Turn is a story of accepting oneself and recognizing what's important in life. It would appeal to readers looking for a sexy power tripping stories.

His Turn. Where do I even start?

Book three of The Turning Series features Elias “Bric” Bricman and for those who have read books one and two, you know that Bric is by far the most complex of the triad of heroes. We knew barely anything about him by the end of the first book – we knew enough about him to think he was crazy by the end of the second book. But just throw all that shit out. Start over. Elias Bricman makes his first real appearance in His Turn.

“I like a little screaming and a lot of moaning.”

HT quote box 1 copy

With Smith and Quin leaving the game, Bric is offered a chance at a new game. One that Jordan seems eager to get him to play. But Nadia is a playing her own game. And although Bric used to hold all the cards, this new player is giving just as good as she gets.

Now before I get to the sexy times. Let’s talk about Bric and how this man blew my world apart.

“There is nothingness... and then there is emptiness. I’m still trying to figure out the difference.”

HT quote box 3 copy

He was an asshole. But there was this tug on my heart that never let up, I still had these lingering feelings from the end of Turning Back and I just couldn’t let go the version of Bric we got to see as Quin’s story unfolded. A man that has such a stranglehold on control that he’s suffocating himself. This constant need to unleash on others, to play with their minds, to twist his and their realities. It left him alone. And in the end lonely. Until her. We see how the game ending with Smith and Quin really affects him, how that game had become his reality.

Nadia isn’t your typical submissive. She’s a game player. Sure, she’s enjoying her time with Jordan (I’ll get to him in a minute, kay?), and she can play nice until she’s challenged by Bric – a man who is more interested in breaking her down, to getting her to give in completely.

HT quote box 2 copy

I never expected to shed tears during this erotic journey. But Elias Bricman dug deep and there was no way to read this book and not be affected by it. A man with everything, but nothing that matters. A man who was escaping where he came from, a man longing for what he once had and just trying to find his way. God, my heart broke for him throughout this book. And sure, he was an asshole – but none of that mattered because I couldn’t see past his suffering.

Now, Jordan.... Jesus. I have been on the fence about this character from his first introduction in Taking Turns. I loved how Julie used this character to play with our minds. His role in this story was pure angst. I was tied up in knots trying to sort out what his end game was. But those times, with Nadia – with Bric. Soaked barely scratches the surface to express how hot those scenes were. Lines were blurred, crossed and blown the fuck up as these three came together.

His Turn is a thrilling erotic ride. You’ll be dripping from page one and begging for it by the time you reach the end. Sexy, sinful and arousing as fuck.

Holy mother of all mothers! Damn, I feel like I just got put through the wringer big time. So many emotions spent and man, I feel like I got whiplash in a few places. But the best part is the ending. Every time she gets me at the end.

I say this over and over in all my reviews for this author but I can't help it...she leads me in one direction and before I know it, I'm heading in another. I never know what to expect or how she's going to take me there and I'm addicted!

Sorry, not sorry, but I'm not going into detail about the book. It's an experience best had going in blind. It will test your limits but the reward at the end is always worth it for me. I will be waiting, not so patiently for the next book. ARC provided by author.

Ok- so FYI this will probably be spoilery but I feel like I have to explain my rating. If you want to go into this book and be confused AF up until 97% skip this review and enjoy. Wanna know why I didn't like it and suggest you find something else? Keep reading.

I could not be more let down. It's impossible. Bric was my favorite of Turning man in the series and I was SO hopeful for his book. I pre-ordered it as soon as we were able and have been waiting and waiting for it. I really wish I hadn't even read it.

Nadia is a terrible heroine, there's really nothing likeable about her. Nothing. At all. She kinda grossed me out to be honest. But that wasn't the worst thing about this book.

I'm not saying I enjoy 100% perfectly predictable stories. I love plot twists and surprises as much as anyone but this one keeps you completely confused until like 97%. It gave me a headache and I wanted to skim through just to get it over with but I was afraid I'd miss something and the headache would just get worse. I can't remember being this annoyed by a book but you know what THAT wasn't even the worst thing.

The worst thing? There is 0 romance in this book. NONE. Zip, zero, zilch. Nadia and Bric sped up until well, 97% completely hating each other. At first I was like ok cool an enemies to lovers story, this is great I love those. No, these two never get to the lovers part. They just sort of get tired of fighting and end up together. It's a huge let down and depressing. There's no love there at all. I'm actually pretty sure they never even say they like each other let alone love each other. Even a slow burn has some grand gesture of love that makes your heart swell and you swoon and love that the characters finally came together. This seriously goes from hate to ambivalence - ugh.

Just... just no, skip it. It's gross, it's not romantic in the slightest and it's confusing.

1.) Cheating? No because no ones really dating anyone. But if you want specifics: Bric doesn't seem to bang anyone but N & J, N messes around with several random guys in a club and I no idea what J gets up to, we don't get his perspective.
2.) Cliffhanger? Nope.
3.) HEA (Happily Ever After)? No, I suppose you'd call it a Happy for Now ending but honestly I wouldn't even consider it that.
4.) Violence? They smack each other around but there's no like serious whips and chains or blood/gore.
5.) Writing/Grammar? Caught a few errors like missed punctuation and in one continuity error. Bric has a driver take him to Nadia's apartment. When they leave he's driving his car.
6.) Sexual content? MMFM, MMF and MF. I guess if you're into this then yeah the scenes would be hot but I just kept wondering why no one uses condoms and if in JA Huss's world STD's don't exist.
7.) Would I recommend this book to my friends? No! No no no.
8.) POV? Dual (Nadia and Bric only)
9.) Premise/Trope: I think the intention is hate or enemies to lovers but there's no love part.

so, the third book…

*sigh*

It's a one-sided street for me…

Well, we all know the perfection JA Huss delivers while writing the sex scenes (threesomes, twosomes, any-somes…*wink*) that's like l'art pour l'art of sex expertise!

BUT

Here, it just wasn't enough to deliver a full point on, emphysizing the „development“ of the characters through out the story, simply cause the rest of it…unfortunately it's the 80% of the book, I was struggling with the presentation and description of their evolution…

See, Elias Bricman/Bric is a nasty mother fucker (and the least likable characters in the whole series) with a kink for fucked up controlling while mind picking. And he loves the mind games. He's the ultimate player that can't be played. He demands a total submission…cause that not only turns him on, but it's a need for his own fucked up sense of self-worth (which in fact, he has non)

Now, since the „original“ cast fell out, Smith and Quinn founding peace and love with their better halves, that were, previously, properly tested out in the „original“ threesomes games, the only remaining piece of the puzzle is Bric. Now he thinks he's a winner but, in fact, he's a loser and this final game will be HIS TURN to find that out and hopefully get what the rest of the gang did.

*sigh again*

Nadia Wolfe

at first, I thought she was a badass cunning piece of work, controlling bitch that knew how to play the ultimate game and loved seks above all…
I have one hundered percent control over myself at all times. This is why I love ballet. It's an endless stream of self-control, self-abuse and self-assessment

Meaning, she's a control freak!

But putting that aside, it's a front for the carefuly organized mozaic of the broken pieces she was trying to glue with the control.

Then she enters this strange sexual arrangement and I say strange, not cause of the sex, but cause of the non-emotional approach.

They were all fuckin robots, emotionally crippled to begin with, thus the sex felt awkward and almost clinical…and for me, less enjoyable and even less credible as a means for the characters to develop from broken to healing (as the story will eventually lead us towards that notion)

And then, the third party – Jordan Wells, the guy who arranged it all, who prepared Nadia for the game with Bric, who delivered her to him as a gift(?!) for the higher purpose like he was somekind of freakish altruistic philanthropist. *roll eyes*

Oh…ph –lease…gimme a break

like really?!

Now, that fucker made NO SENSE, at all!

OK, so I maybe sound a bit bitter but in fact, I'm kinda disappointed with the resolvement of it all, I didn't feel the redemption of Bric, I didn't really „dig“ the background reasoning of Nadia's actions and why she was doing what she was doing in the first place!
I play this game with Jordan because I'm practicing. I'm learning how to be more dominant from an unequal starting point. I'm teacing myself to think outside the box when it comes to controlling men.

Ok, maybe I've somehow missed the fuckin point here…but I ask again, with what purpose?
What's the fuckin purpose of doing this?

I just didn't find it credible enough that a person craving for control would enter a submissive threesome sex encounters where the basic thing to start with that game should be a developed TRUST.

Well, now that was a miss! No trust there…and since that was lacking all of the above seemed pointless as fuck!

And since they both, Nadia and Bric, seeked dominance, there was no actual „pleasure“ in the act, there was the „thrill of breaking“ the other one's dominance, when I'm not even sure, for whose benefit that was to start with…

Therefore, the very „redemption“ after the „destruction“ of all the figurines in the fuckin game, and the game itself, seemed abrupt, forced and fake.

And yeah, i'm aware, I'll probably be in the minority with my opinion, but I don't give a shit!

There will always be those who like a book more, and those who'll like it less, it's a trial and error kinda thing, really...LOL
So, go...and try :)

At 36 years old, Elias “Bric” Bricman has been playing games for a long time. While he and his good friends had a good thing, the dynamic changed leaving Bric to either find a new partner or change the rules. When Jordan Wells, an attorney and a Turning Point club member, invites Bric to play he is hesitant based on the past but isn’t going to turn down the opportunity to have a little kinky fun.

“This is about me for once. It’s my turn, I realize. It’s my turn to take, and take, and take until I use her up and spit her out.”

Nadia Wolfe is a 23 year old ballerina who recently transferred to Denver’s Mountain Ballet Company. Comfortable with her body and sexual preferences, Nadia considers herself to be a dominant but agrees to Jordan’s proposition of submitting for her own reasons. As some time passes, Nadia soon learns that Jordan wants Bric to also participate making it a trio.

“I do it because the payoff is all that matters. The expression on his face when I disappoint him is almost as delicious as the expression when I surprise him.”

As Nadia and Bric get more acquainted, it’s clear they are opposites in many ways, as their personalities immediately clash. But with both being jaded and manipulative, the tension mounts because neither are about to surrender just for the sake of avoiding conflict. Instead, each is determined to extract what they can from this relationship but when Bric exerts his dominance over Nadia, she submits and it is certainly combustible.

“I fuck her. I fuck her until I come inside her pussy and then pull back to watch the creamy evidence of my arousal leak out from between her lips.”

With this constant push and pull between Bric and Nadia, just when it seems as though there is progress, pride and vulnerabilities create more pain causing both Bric and Nadia to reflect upon their past and what they seek in the future.

“We’re all gonna get hurt, that’s not a secret? You said that, Nadia. You came into this game to hurt us. And now you’re what? Mad because we’re gonna hurt you back?”

In reading the Turning series, Bric always stood out as the kinkiest dominant player and I wanted to know more about him. Additionally, my expectations for him involved a non-conventional ending, so in starting His Turn, I was hoping the plot would lead to a non-vanilla arrangement. Well, Bric’s path hasn’t always been easy and his book was full of plotting and manipulation that at times felt appropriate but also unanchored. While I understood Bric’s perspective, I didn’t like how he was portrayed to be the evil one, especially when Nadia was much more malicious in her intent. My connection to Nadia actually started out in a positive way, especially because she was so different from the other female players, but then she lost me in her quest.

Ultimately, I liked how JA Huss explored the nature of unconventional relationships in this series, but was hoping for such an ending rather than snapping back to vanilla. And, while I understand the character arc for Bric, it left me wanting more for such a strong character.

This series would appeal to those who want to explore kinkery but still want a traditional ending.

OMG! I am IN LOVE with the players of this game, FOR SURE! Seriously, you guys! Elias Bricman has MET HIS MATCH in every single way. Nadia Wolfe is EVERYTHING he is NOT looking for in his life right now, but with Smith and Quinn leaving the game, Jordan and Nadia give him the chance to play a whole new game and he is hesitant to play, but eager and intrigued to say the least. You can tell he is struggling, because of first impressions and all that, but another night with both players, well, it changes things for Bric, and we aren't really sure if it's for the good or for the bad.

"There is nothingness...and then there is emptiness. I'm still trying to figure out the difference."

JA Huss definitely keeps us guessing throughout this entire novel, but that is what makes this book and Huss' writing in general, SO DAMN GREAT! Bric's story is one for the books, folks. And you won't know up from down by the time this author, and these characters, get through with you.

"I'm not interested in your opinion on the payment. I'm interested in how much you think you're worth."

"Answer him, Nadia."

"I'm worth more than you can afford."

Have I mentioned that I'm totally digging the female lead in this story. She is just a regular spitfire and she is a force to content with, that's for sure. I love her spirit. I love her confidence. I love that she is so determined to win the game. If I were to describe the perfect yin to Bric's yang, Nadia Wolfe would fit the picture, exactly! The dynamic between her and Bric, as well as the dynamic between her, Bric, and Jordan...it's just FUCKING HOT AS HELL to say the least. I mean, some of these scenes...just WOW! It will get your motor runnin' FOR SURE!

"Welcome to my world."

I never expected for HIS TURN to end the way it did. I never expected to shed so many tears when this erotic journey came to an end, but I did, and it was PERFECTION! You never know, in a JA Huss read what you're going to get, but you can always count on the journey to be pretty damn EPIC!

I can't tell you what Huss has up her sleeve for this series. I can't tell you if this is the end. I can only hope that this author continues to bring us greatness with amazing words and unforgettable characters. In my opinion, there are still players 'in play' for this game. The question is, who will we root for next?

"I like to hurt people, I think. I must like it. I must like it a lot. Because I do it all the time."

We finally get to the last player, Bric, and certainly the most dominant and kinky of the three. His two best friends, Smith and Quin, have found partners and basically left him on his own...and he's feeling every solitary moment.

This was certainly not the book I expected it would be, not by a long shot. It is very dark and just mean.

I thought I had always liked Bric, but who I really liked was Elias. And this book is all Bric...Bric the DICK! When you read it, you'll see what I mean.

Nadia was okay but not my favorite person either. She also has some weird, twisted things in her past and has a lot to work out.

description

Unfortunately, we don't get most of the answers until the end of the book and that's a long time to hold on for.

In fact, I'm not real happy with the book and that makes me sad...for Elias. I wanted him to have so much more. I guess I can be okay with knowing that he seems to be headed in that direction.

I also missed the other couples. I was hoping they would be more integrated into the story. I liked their little dysfunctional group and I wanted more of them.

The real surprise for me was Jordan. He definitely became an intriguing character. The real question is if he was interesting enough to read the spinoff series, starting with Five, coming out September 19, 2017. Unfortunately, Jordan's story will be the last book.

Bric, Bric, he's my man, if he can't do it, no one can

I have been dying for Bric's story ever since I started this series. Each character is dear to me, but him I felt sorry for. Everyone around him was falling in love and wanted to quite the game. He didn't want to give any of them up. When new players come into play will they capture his attention or will he still be stuck in the past?

Here's what I loved, yes it is super hot, I mean come on It is JA Huss after all and I absolutely loved Bric. He is my favorite, Smith is a close second. I did feel bad for Bric, and I so wanted him to fall in love and that person to love him back. I love the way the author adds her twists in her stories. I mean come on, it is a game after all.

Now, with that said here's where I had a small issue... The ending. I feel at times when reading JA Huss books we get what we want and then bam, the end. I would like a little more to the ending. I don't want to give anything away so I won't go into detail.

If you are looking for extremely hot reads with some games and M/F/M and M/F/M/M this series is for you!

3.5 STARS Book 3 in the series was all about a Mindfuck over power & control. Bric & Nadia were pretty much two in the same when it came to wanting to be in control. I thought the threesomes in book 2 was hot, but the ones in this book were pretty darn hot as well!! I loved that the author didn't give us the same repeated sex scenes and they had me 🥵

I will say there was not much character development in this tho. We are put thru mind games thru the majority of the book and then the ending felt rushed. I felt like it was this big build up and then it ended. Like they have one conversation about their past and that's it, everything is fixed?? I didn't see enough of an emotional connection between Bric &. Nadia. I also would've liked to see Jordan in a different role. Maybe where he had deeper feelings for Nadia but she ends up falling for Bric instead, I was expecting something along those lines. Overall still enjoy this world, looking forward to see where Jordan's book takes us.

3.25-3.5 stars

I enjoyed this story for most of the book and thought for a time that it might be 5 stars. However, the final 30% seemed rushed and not fleshed out nearly enough. Almost like it was a different author or something.

I worried with only a few chapters left how the grovelling and atonement would work. It wasn’t given the time to play out that it needed so it’s a weak HFN and finish. Disappointing as I really enjoyed the clashing of wills between the h and the H throughout. Some things were revealed that weren’t given enough sentences to give them proper impact or for the reader to believe or make sense of them.

I’m looking forward to Jordan’s book but it’s stupid o’clock. Maybe just a few chapters …

Christ on a cracker, that was BRILLIANT! For the life of me, I couldn't put this book down once I started it. Seriously, this was pure mind fuckery, unbridled lust and full on angst all over. Expect every single thing JA Huss is known for in this book.

The games... Good god, I think even I got caught up in all the mind games these characters were playing. They were going off all at the same time, you won't even know anything was really happening until it smacked you right in the face. Then there's the revelations, even going back from the very first book in the series, will hit you in all angles that you'll be left with your mouth hanging wide open. So I definitely recommend starting this series with Taking Turns. That way you won't miss anything when you get to this one.

Elias Bricman (aka Bric) was one of the biggest, kinkiest a-holes I've ever read about. You will hate him. Make no mistake about that. You will seethe and end up wanting to punch him in the throat or his junk more times than you can count. He will play with your mind and your emotions and he won't be sorry doing it. He thrives and lives for that shit. But then you've also got to remember how private this man is. How you never really knew him at all. We only got a chance to see him in action inside the Club. But outside of that? Nothing. And the sweet, overly dominant I'm-always-in-control-I-have-all-the-power-in-this-situation Bric was just as broken and fucked up as he was dirty and dangerous in the bedroom.

Nadia Wolfe, on the other hand, was more of a jumpy character to me. I think this book was an all-Bric show, so she kind of faded a bit on the background, but that ring of mystery surrounding her and her past will still keep you mostly on your toes. You'll want to get to know her and empathize with her on her lowest of lows. She has a very stubborn, controlling streak that always butted heads with Bric's dominance. And that was definitely fun; I was always on edge wanting to know who won that certain battle. I also loved the fact that dancing ballet was her refuge, but I think I just needed Nadia to be a little stronger and firmer for the character she portrayed. She was at first, yes, but it slowly dwindled down the farther you get into the story.

I freaking LOVED Jordan Wells. To me, he was just as much of a main character in this book as Bric and Nadia was. His secrets, his other life outside of the game he was in with Bric and Nadia will make you beg for more of this man. He may be ridiculously materialistic, but his sweet thoughtfulness tugged at my heartstrings. He was utterly the one person who balanced out Bric's cold-hearted douchebaggery, believe me. And everything he did in the end just melted me all over. Once you have all the revelations out in the open? He'll just knock your socks off even more. All I know is that he needs a book right tf now. And as far as I know, he is going to get one. Because there will be a spin-off series. A whole new game. A full set of new players. Oh yeah, I just gave myself the chills from anticipation!

So let's face it, this book was sick. It was so sick and twisted, my little black heart ate it all up and loved every second of it. His Turn, especially Bric, blew me the hell away—it shredded my mind, my heart, my guts and that special zone down below. The power struggle between Bric and Nadia was insanely a huge turn on. I swear. One of the craziest power struggles I've encountered that will fuck you up right along with them. You can definitely file this book away under your "so messed up, yet so deliciously good" shelf. That I'm sure of.

Elias Bricman is a bit of an enigma. My heart broke for him at the end of the last book. He was so willing to go all in and change his life, only to be left alone once again. The thing about Bric is that he is always playing the game, he loves to do whatever it takes to win, no matter what the cost.

‘But that’s what I do to everyone who gets too close, right? I punish them. Push them away. I break them.’

Bric is offered up a night with Nadia by an acquaintance, Jordan. It goes okay but there was nothing very memorable about it really. However, Jordan is keen to get Bric to enter into an arrangement between himself and Nadia. Jordan has always been envious of what Bric has had in the past with Quin and Smith. He wants the same with his own plural relationship.

Nadia is a 23 year old ballet dancer who has recently moved to Denver. It would be an understatement to say that she has a very heightened sexual libido. She loves to dominate but also enjoys being submissive. She enjoys playing games with other men so when Jordan proposes that they invite Bric into their relationship she thinks she will be able to beat him at his own game.

This is just the beginning of what turns into a endeavour of who can mind fuck and outplay the other. There is no way Bric will let this woman get the upper hand but at times he finds himself doing just that, she can be very manipulative before he realises what she is doing. He knows that deep down inside she is hiding something from her past, something that has affected her attitude towards sex and intimacy. He is determined to eventually break her.

‘She is as sexy as fuck. But she’s a manipulative little cunt. I will make her pay for this little move. I will make her fucking pay. ‘Nadia Wolfe,’ I say, walking into my bedroom to get undressed. ‘You are not the dom in this relationship.’

I found Nadia to be quite flighty and self absorbed. She had two men who were happy to take care of her every need but she was only interested in what she could get out of the arrangement. She kept her secrets close to her chest, never tempted to open up any more than she had to. I don’t think she even had the capacity to love another person. She just wants to win.

This story also peels back the layers of Bric’s personal life. We finally get the story behind the man, his childhood and his family are a huge part of why he is the way he is now. He finds himself in quite a vulnerable position when he has to deal with something deeply personal. It definitely gave me an insight to the man he is now.

Bric has definitely met his match in Nadia, they both seem hell bent on destroying each other but in doing so who really wins in the end?

‘I hate you,’ Nadia whispers. But her eyes are still closed. Her body soft against mine. Her breathing slowing. ‘I don’t care,’ I whisper back. ‘I’m in love with your surrender.’

Before I end this review it would be remiss of me to not mention how freaking hot the sex was between Bric, Nadia and Jordan, like panty melting, one handed reading hot. I definitely had to stop and have a private moment at least twice while reading this book so enjoy!

2023 Re-read - downgraded from 5 to 4 stars.

Not many trilogies have books that are all equally as good as each other, however, this is one of the few I’ve read where they are. Each book in the series has a very different feel about it and yet it is also very familiar at the same time.

The story has its very steamy parts and some twisted mind battles, but not much emotional romance. If you’ve read Books 1 and 2 you know that isn’t what this series is about, and definitely isn’t what Bric is about. No, I love this book because it isn't a bland run-of-the-mill carbon-copy contemporary romance. I love this book because it messes with your mind, pushes your boundaries and unleashes your dark desires. But it never feels unsafe, some books make me feel anxious with their darkness but this made me feel free.

His Turn almost felt to be more about Nadia than it did about Bric, but then he featured heavily in Turning Back and I felt we got to know him quite well then. It was also clear, in Turning Back, that Bric was a broken and quite messed up individual. In this book, I felt we got to know a little about Elias, or maybe even quite a lot if you read between the lines or listen to his name. I already liked Bric – even though he didn’t want me to - and I soon learnt to love Nadia. She was so strong, feisty and in control, even when she wasn’t.

I chuckle at my reflection in the mirror and stop.
Am I happy?
Hmm. I have to think about that for a moment.
……

I’m mostly quite …… satisfied.

I so wanted him to get a happy ending but Bric himself seemed to not want that (even if Elias did). But then neither did Nadia, and just like Bric you could see a darkness haunting her. These are two beautiful and yet twisted and controlling characters whose only aim is to win and yet you wonder if the truth is that they’re both losing – or perhaps have already lost.

The story is such a layered and complex one and yet also very simple, it’s definitely one that will require a re-read just to absorb it all. There was almost as much action in the last few chapters as in the whole book. Given that there was plenty of story and action throughout tells you just how mind-spinning and revelation packed those last few chapters were.

And if you haven’t read either this book or the whole series then buy it now because it is most definitely worth it. Oh and make sure you have plenty of free time because once you start reading you won't put the book down until it is finished.

PS - Jordan, I so didn't see that one coming!

ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review

This review will be one of the shortest and straight to the point review I have written. Simply, JA Huss is a masterful storyteller and writer. Her ability to lure readers with her sinful, erotic and articulate words makes this trilogy one of the best and sexiest books that I have read. She entices readers to break out of the comfort norm of typical romances but embrace her style of the unpredictable whether it be sexually or emotionally. And in her latest, His Turn, Huss has readers embracing and loving a complex hero and heroine who were sexually and emotionally compatible with each other on every level. All I can say, go read this book. Fall in love with these characters and most importantly get bewitched and understand why so many readers like myself are addicted and obsessed with Julie's books. On that final note, let me just say her sexy book covers and teasers are just a taste of what she can deliver because her writing will knock your literary world as you will want to drown in her words and characters. A must read trilogy!!!!

I felt a lot of things reading this book. I felt the chemistry, the hot scenes, the angst, the struggle, the power play, the dichotomy of the characters but gosh, I didn't feel the love. For such a hot book, I can't place why it was lacking romance. I saw a little bit of it between Jordan and Nadia but between her and Bric? Nada. I think they fought so hard to find themselves that they didn't actually have the time to just chill and be together. It was the rollercoaster of emotions and mind games that consumed the characers so much that they couldn't really settle to see if they felt anything for each other.

Going back to Turning Point Club for the third time for the much anticipated story of Elias Bricman was well worth waiting for. The biggest Alpha of the lot finds himself alone, unsatisfied, bitter, and looking for another game to the fill the void. A void created by his long time players Smith and Quinn, Rochelle and Chella.

Jordan Wells, rich, lawyer alpha has come to play the game with Bric. Yet for Bric the game will never be the same. Jordan gifts Bric with the pleasure of Nadia. Their first encounter is underwhelming and leaves Bric with an even moodier view of his current situation. Yet Nadia is not what she seems. A player herself, she is about to give Elias a run for his money. She is crafty, and unapologetic for her topping from the bottom ways and the outcome of this couple/triad is lust filled, psychologically twisted and fraught with sexual tension.

There is no middle ground with Elias and Nadia. The War of the Roses comes to mind while watching these two match wits and attempt to one up each other. What Nadia is after is a peek into the true darkness that is Elias Bricman.

In true Julie Huss form, twists and turns abound, some leaving the doors open for future stories. Seamlessly crafted, this delicious battle of dominance and submission is a serious 5 star read.

His Turn was quite different from what I expected, the plot was definitely twisted, and there was a lot of darkness. Bric needed to work quite a bit in order to move forward with his life after the last game ended.

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Bric was not only in a dark place, he seemed to like it there, too! His Turn showed how demotivated he was with everything after Quin and Smith left him behind to be with their women. Nadia was an enigma, though, it took me a long time to figure anything out about her at all, and while I enjoyed the way she seemed to be one step ahead of Bric, I think I might have enjoyed it even more if I had known a bit more about her. Jordan's involvement intrigued me, since he seemed so taken with Nadia it appeared that he didn't need Bric at all.

His Turn includes Huss' usual mind fucks, as well as all the hotness and slightly taboo sexy business. And I went back and forth feeling bad for both Nadia and Bric, and then loathing them... with their secrets, their need for control, plus some game they kept extremely close to the vest.

Written in dual points of view, from Nadia's and Bric's perspective, the plot and story moved forward at a nice pace. And when Bric decided to share, he laid it all out there - no barrels held. The present tense and first person perspective made the story quite personal, even when I was kept at arm's length by the characters because they were so good at playing the game.

Fave Quotes - (un)Conventional Bookviews

There is nothingness... and then there is emptiness. I'm lying in bed trying to figure out which is which.

He turns to leave before I can even bother responding, and I wonder if his life is as perfect as it seems. Lawton Ayers was a kid with a brain and not much else when I took him under my wing twelve years ago.

I feel powerful today. Here's the thing about men who like to dominate women. They think we're weak. That we enjoy submitting. And I'm sure there are weak ones out there. Just like I'm sure some of them like to submit. But I'm not submissive. not at all. And no one who knows me would ever describe me as weak.

JA Huss is not only the Mistress of Twisty but she's also the Queen of the Big Finish. She really knows how to wrap up a series and leave you happy and content about being run down by the emotional equivalent of an 18 wheeler. The final installment of The Turning Series, "His Turn", is her best yet, and I don't just say that because I've had an unhealthy fascination/attraction to Elias Bricman from his first appearance on the page, and I think he is ALL. THE. THINGS. And Nadia is the ballerina this grown up girl dreams of being.
HIs Turn is just that- Bric's turn to tell his story. Shattered by the way things turned out with Quin, Rochelle and baby Adley, Bric is wallowing in self loathing and loneliness, when Nadia, a kinky ballerina with secrets of her own, lands in his lap - her submission a gift from Jordan, who is eager become a player in Bric's game of Taking Turns. Well, it turns out Nadia isn't all that submissive, Jordan isn't a replacement for Quin, and the Gamemaster ends up getting played. But not before they get in deep, too deep. Nadia and Bric are locked in battle of wills to make the other submit - sexually and emotionally - with no concern for the wreckage they leave behind. They've met each other's match, if they can survive the game.
The encounters are filthy hot, kinky as Hell and panty drenching, and only a slip away from some scorching full on m/m. Erotic doesn't begin to describe it. There are scenes that will make you quiver and ache with frustration and longing. The rave and the ballet studio are only two of them. Don't say you weren't warned about this #onehandedread. The lingerie and linen budget took a hit this month. #dirtydreams4days
Of course the biggest twist of all is that BrictheDick's story is the most emotional of all. Julie just kept breaking my heart into smaller and smaller pieces until I was worried it would be dust. His bone deep loneliness haunted me. And the fact that no one seemed to look past his facade of congenial host, problem solver and Dom, worried me. And the extremes to which he would go to build a family confused me. Until we met his.
JA Huss delivered as promised - we definitely got a dirty, dirty, billionaire, bondage ménage, but we also got heart stopping romance, steadfast friendship, and new way to look at family. And that shattered heart of mine - let's just say the ending made it stronger - and a little kinkier.

5++ 'Total Mind Fuck' Stars!!!

What's it about? This is the 3rd and final installment in The Turning series. It focuses on Bric and his amazing ability to play the game . It explores the importance of trust and the fear that sometimes accompanies a control freak. It's actually a story about two control freaks.... hating each other and helplessly falling in love at the same time!

The best bits: Everything!!
JA Huss' writing style that makes you fall into a completely foreign world and fall in love with it.

The shocks and twists and turns. Basically, the 'mind fucks'.

Bric. He is the most... I don't know, fucked up, complex, sexy, entertaining, and surprising hero that I've come across.

Nadia. I love everything about kick-ass Nadia. Everything.

The clothes. The ballet. The music. The food.
Just. Everything.

The worst bits: I wanted the last two chapters to stretch to four. Truly, that last scene with Quinn, Smith and Bric was a bit of a cop out. It was completely uninspired and under-done. Seriously. I get mad just thinking about it.

Recommended for: Everyone who likes a dark romance. But you must read the series in order. These are NOT stand alone books.
I absolutely loved this series. And I can't wait to discover more work by the very talented Ms Huss.

I can never say this enough; JA Huss is a genius and has one very wicked mind. I am a huge fan of all her work. In His Turn, the next book in the Turning series, we get one wild and erotic ride. I loved this series, it will take you out of your comfort zone and leave you begging for more, but His Turn, this book will turn everything upside down. I loved Smith and Quinn (especially Quinn), but Elias, Elias Bricman will own your heart

Don’t get me wrong. Bric is an ***whole. You will hate him many times, you will judge him, but you will also finally see him. The world he has known for a long time is gone. The game he played has ended. A man used to always being in control and dominating those around him. Where does this leave him?

Enter Nadia, who is about to rock Bric’s world. Though submissive, she is also strong and manipulative and will give Bric a run for his money. She is a mystery with her own demons and secrets. Could she be a match for Bric or will she lose it all?

Then there is Jordan. He seems to want to help Bric, who seems lost without his friends, but he knows he is the cause. Jordan offers a new game, new players. Drawn in, Jordan, Nadia and Bric enter a new game. But will this game cost Bric more than he is willing to give?

This book is told in dual point of view, by Elias and Nadia and must be read after the other two books in the series. It is an amazing read, with a story that will consume you, characters you will love and hate and ultimately root for. There is mystery, suspense, chemistry and sexy scenes that will leave you breathless.

His Turn was as erotic as expected in this series, and from this author, but was also emotional. And in true J.A. Huss fashion, full of twists and turns you do not see coming. I absolutely love this author. I read everything she releases because her mind is a universe I want to get lost in. Her books, her characters, her stories are all MUST READ for me and this series, this series is one you must experience.

Happy reading!

I gotta say .... I REALLY enjoyed reading this journey. It caught me by surprise on many occasions and at no point was I not glued to my kindle just waiting for the next turn ... what a phenomenal ride His Turn turned out to be.

I'm not gonna lie, out of all three, Bric was my least favorite throughout this trilogy until BAM, he wasn't. With him being the focus you get a much deeper meaning of the man inside and what a perfect female lead Nadia made for him. I didn't even care about the sexual nature of their relationship. I cared more about their psychological relationship. They were two peas from the same fucked-up pod.

As an avid reader, I was challenged by this book and that's no easy task. Everything about this story felt new. The power dynamic that Julie Huss created with these characters was perfection. I can honestly say I have never read anything like this before. Ever. Well done!

This one has become my favorite.
Nadia & Bric.
So Broken! So messed up. Both of them in their own ways.

I'm still not sure how I feel about the ending.
I both loved it and at the same time expected something different.
But, I have to admit, I am Satisfied
And it was a good ending. It made sense.
It felt REAL

5+ smashing stars

I've followed this series from the very beginning and from all three men, by the time i was at Bric's story, i was antsy. I wanted to know him better. I wanted to know what made him tick. And i sure as heck wanted to get to the bottom of his aloofness considering his many talents. I was more than a little curious to find out how this man, who i've come to find as much darker than either Smith or Quin, would react if he ever found his match. And boy did J.A. Huss deliver when it came to His Turn.

4.5 sexy dreams

I highly doubt that i was prepared for a new round of the game with either Nadia or Jordan. I doubt that Bric was prepared either. Nadia is a Top; something that Bric claims she isn't since she doesn't understand what being a dominant means. At the same time, she submits beautifully - in the sense that she understands the mentality, the needs and wants of a submissive and that moment when she fully surrenders to it... i felt it myself. Bric knew how to push this girl and she, him as well. And just when i thought it was all over, J.A. Huss turns it all around on us and makes it last longer, finally giving us an idea of who the real Bric (Elias) really is. I absolutely loved this series. Loved the way that they pushed all sorts of boundaries and even made you really think on what's important: the idea of happiness, or actually being happy and feeling it. These characters were nothing like i expected and that made this story even more fascinating and there was no way was i going to let this book stretch out more than necessary because i had to know what was going to happen.

So sad to see this series end. I absolutely LOVED the Taking Turns series. Julie is an absolute mastermind.

Elias Bric. Ohhhh Bric ❤️❤️

 photo BBD6FB46-8231-4D58-B220-D3470F28DB1E_zpsfsxwfxab.jpg

Smith has always been my favorite character from this series, but Bric give him a series run for my money. I can't decide!!

Bric is our negotiator..psychiatrist drop out, professional mind fucker. We see him from a whole new perspective in this book..we see him completely broken from where we left off with Rochelle and Quin.

I'm going to keep it vague..by everything seems to fall into place..we see why Bric is the way he is...

Now we come to Nadia..

 photo 0A1B0CDE-35E7-47FE-8224-6C6499ABD092_zpswbtjrp5f.gif

Nadia is a ballerina, who brings her own secrets to the table. She is just as much of a game player as Bric. They have this tug pull kind of relationship, especially because Nadia craves control just as much as Bric.
I loved her strong personality and her drive.

 photo 9C5F6651-D0B5-47DD-91F5-1F5F28208CB3_zpsqrq1ralq.gif

We also meet Jordan Wells, who continues to remain a huge question mark. But Julie makes it clear that we won't see the end of Jordan and I can't wait! Jordan convinces Bric to play the game with him and Nadia..Bric agrees but is determined to win the game and break Nadia.

Jordan, Bric and Nadia are beyond smokin hot...it was more like..holy shit I need an ice cold shower.

His Turn is Bric's story and the final book in the Turning series trilogy. It was the hardest book for me to follow. Bric was a difficult character for me to know, he was always holding a part of himself back. It was also Nadia's story. I guess I'll throw that in. I didn't like her at all. She thought she could play with the big boys. Swim with the big fishes. Humph! Well, read the book and make up your own mind! Now there's Jordan. My fave character in the book. I felt his presence throughout the book even when he wasn't there. Swoon. Be still my heart.

This book was the darkest of the three books. I wanted it to end, not because I didn't like it, but because I wasn't sure if there would be an HEA I could be happy with. I got nervous. My fingers got itchy. I was turning the pages almost faster than I could read them! The ending. This ending!

Now for the cherry on top, the EOBS, the End of Book Shit. In fact, this EOBS made my heart soar. SOAR! I'm ecstatic! I'm over the moon! I'm walking on sunshine and I feel good!

JAH did not disappoint. I love her. One of my fave authors. I'll follow her anywhere. I'm giving this book 5 stars!
