She wasn't interested in dating a domineering Marine. He wasn't taking no for an answer.
When you agree to help your best friend break into her ex-boyfriend’s apartment, you can expect a few complications. A half-naked, hot-as-hell Marine bursting in, demanding to know what is going on, is not one of them!
Sage is an intelligent, independent woman. The last thing she needs is some arrogant alpha male storming into her life and ordering her around. Yet that is exactly what she gets when Conner sets his sights on her. Despite their obvious attraction, Sage resists him at every turn, convinced he is not the man for her.
After three straight deployments as a Marine attack helicopter pilot, all Conner wants to do during his month of leave is sleep. But when he lays eyes on Sage, after stopping what he thinks is a robbery, the furthest thing from his mind is sleep. Drawn by her feisty attitude as much as her beauty, Conner is determined to make her his. Even if he has to fight her every step of the way.
This story was originally part of the “Hero to Obey” anthology but has been expanded (doubled in size) with additional scenes and sub-plot.

I really liked this book as Hero goes mine-mine-mine upon meeting the heroine. I also didn’t feel so bad about his pushiness in pursuit of the heroine coz it was clear that she liked it and she wasn’t afraid.
Meeting your true love after you break into a apartment next door lol
Sage and her friend melissa are breaking in to take back all of melissa stuff from her crappy ex bf. And are caught by Benjamin aka Connor (he doesnt use his last name) their is already a attractions from Connor and as for Sage she feels something but she doesn't wanna deal with a marine and one who is bossy as heck.
But these two grow on one another and it is steamy and dirty.. plus we have the drama that melissa ex brings.
I know i read this before i don't think i reviewed it. The orginal work is by zoe Blake she just has a new pen for this one ;)
No ow/om drama, No cheating, drama, slight secondary chara, no virgins

This is an OKAY book. It started fine. The H and h's first meeting is nice but then when they meet again. He forcefully takes her to his home. Fine with that. But then when she says she doesn't want to go to his home, suddenly he puts his fingers in her p****😱. ::::::Turn offff::::::: And when they get home... h- I don't want to come inside H- ....... And when they get inside... h- wow you have a beautiful house... 😳😳😳😳 Like really? :::::Turn offff::::::: She is being forcefully HANDLED, and she is complimenting his house? Okay....then when he tries to RAPE her..... H- Oh...you're so tight h- uh...yes it's been awhile. 😭😭😭😭😭 :::::Turn offff::::: :::::Turn offff::::: :::::Turn offff::::: I like ott H. But this one was too much. At least a guy should have some respect. Forceful kiss is fine. But forceful touching ...actually forcefully handling her p**** is not done. This author is too dark for me. Not for me. Abandon..!!!!
Conner is a Captain in the Marines and is on leave and crashing at his friend's place. He hears loud noises and investigates to find Sage and her friend ransacking an apartment. Sage's friend has a bad ex-boyfriend and Conner finds himself helping the women. Conner is immediately drawn to Sage and shortly after meeting, their cat and mouse chase begins. This is the perfect story if you're looking for something quick and dirty. Conner is dominant and commanding and Sage is a likable heroine.
It doesn't have a ton of plot development, although I was surprised at the amount of story that was packed into this. I wish there had been more but let's be honest I really only picked this up for the smut.
Sage MacGovern considers herself an independent, intelligent woman. She doesn’t need a man to control her. She is fiercely loyal to her best friend, Melissa, who is the daughter of a senator. Living and working in the DC area, she is used to politics and influence, but she would rather help schools with funding for the arts.
Major Benjamin Conner is just known as Conner to his friends and fellow Marines. He has just returned from another six-month stint in Afghanistan and is crashing for a few weeks at a friend’s apartment until his next assignment. What a shock to be woken up by two women ransacking the apartment. Then he must rescue them in the parking lot when Melissa’s ex-boyfriend confronts them.
The one line that had me laughing out loud and comes from Sage about Conner when they meet in the apartment where he wakes from a dead sleep, “Your eyes match your underwear,” she blurted out.
The plot will involve Conner and Sage and their time together while he is on leave. She is hesitant to want to get involved with a military man, especially one who deploys often. Conner is a man who is in charge of his job in the Marines and his personal life; dominance is just his nature.
“He’s too controlling. Too arrogant. Too primal. Too sexy. Too Dominant. Too scary.”
Sage goes through so many emotions, and what scares her the most, is she afraid of falling in love with him or has she already fallen? He proves how far he is willing to go for her.
“He was like some action hero who swooped in to save her but who would disappear by the end of the movie. By the end of his leave.”
Can she just enjoy him during his leave and then say goodbye?
“Live for today. Worry about tomorrow when it arrives. Life’s too short.”
In the end, Conner isn’t willing to give up on Sage or allow her fears to sabotage their relationship.
‘He was arrogant, domineering and drove her crazy with his possessiveness sometimes, but he was also sweet, caring, intelligent and amazingly unselfish in how he sacrificed his own safety for complete strangers.”
Best of all, love can conquer all, and this story does have the coveted happily ever after ending. I loved the characters, the interaction, the suspense, and definitely the passion.
This story would have been better if it didn't keep putting down the army and elevating the marines. I think "respect" applies to all branches of the armed forces.
Kind of reminded me of Lynda Chance's writing so definitely enjoyed it! Although it lacked any of Zoe's usual themes of dub-con and cold/heartless H's.
This book started with a cute premise. The storyline, as it developed, was a little farfetched at times, but it was okay. There were several instances of wrong word usage which just interrupts the flow of the story. He pressed her against the "service" of the wall instead of the surface; her friend's actions "exacerbates" her father instead of exasperates, etc. And in some of the make out scenes were just a touch too exaggerated to come across as real. It was still an okay story, but I'm picky about certain things and this book pressed some if those buttons.
A cute, sweet story with some hot stuff. The only reason I gave it three stars is because it could really use some good editing. It was not so bad as to drop you out of the story, just that I expect more from this author.
A sweet little story with a clear message that life happens today and obstacles are there to be overcome, preferably together. The last quarter was a bit too rushed, with a bit more depth and the romantic end could have moved to tears. Nevertheless a good romantic story.
Wow,I got teary eyed with this one .Definitely a feel good love story not to be missed, steamy for sure with a bit of noncon(but not really because who really wouldn't want to be saved by a hero and thrown over the shoulder of a sexy as sin marine!) It is one Whirlwind of a story where a dominant, alpha male marine with a gooey sweet center and an admirable hero complex saves the heroine and her friend repeatedly .But Sage fights their sizzling connection due to inexperience, fear of the unknown and the overwhelming attraction she has for the bigger than life he man military stud .Love the surprising details of military family and social life and pageantry. Well written ,no typos or editing issue. Short and sweet with HEA. Want to go and reread from the..Beginning!
This was a bit of a departure from the author's normal writing, but definitely worth reading. Conner is a super hot, alpha Marine. Sage is an independent, modern female. She knows better than to get involved with a man like Conner, but somehow can't seem to stay away. This was a short, fun, sexy read. I really liked the struggle as Sage desperately tries to resist Conner. I wasn't ready for the story to end, but will say the ending was perfect.
Choosing to read this on Memorial Day turned out perfect timing but reading this anytime is also good. You gotta love a Marine when he knows what or who he wants and he wants his Spitfire. Such an enjoyable fun read. Knowing about Marines, having a brother who was one, it was great the way Ms Blake explained things so civilians would understand also was great! It was a great fun read as Mr. Marine gets to know his Spitfire!
A great read. She is feisty, intelligent, loyal and so much more. He is tough, an alpha male and so much more. He catches her and her friend in an apartment he has borrowed for a few weeks. then has to go out and rescue them. He wants her but she is skittish and a lot more. It is exciting, suspenseful, hot, fun and so much more. I recommend it. I was given a review copy by book boast and voluntarily review it.
“How about a kiss?” “A kiss?” “I believe that is the customary tribute for a knight in shining armor when they rescue a damsel in distress.” “I was not in distress, you…” “Do you want me to release you or not?”
A light and easy book to read, a little far fetched but there was nothing to make it recommendable. The characters needed more depth as I didn’t emotionally connect with them. However, if you like a hero who swoops into an instalove sweet romance with a HEA this could be your book.
If you're seeking a few hours of romantic escape with your eReader, a handsome alpha Marine, and a sassy independent woman, then this book is a must-read. It's got it all! Romance, heat, humor, suspense, friendship, and a HEA. Every woman's private fantasy put into words. Don't think I need to say anything more.
Conner and Sage were wonderful characters and this is one of the best books that I have read written by Ms. Blake. I can't believe I have laughed that much at the dialogue between two characters in a long time. Short story but very cute and definitely worth the read.
This is a well written fast paced story. Conner is a sexy alpha marine who helps Sage out of a predicament. Sage is a strong sassy woman which makes them click. Very enjoyable read. I highly recommend.
That was wonderfully OTT! I was in the mood for an overbearing alpha and Connor definitely delivered! He was protective, possessive but also very sweet and caring. Sage was a good h, independent albeit a bit too flighty. 4 Marine stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Worth fighting for? Why, yes it is! But you need to take a journey through the pages of this book to find out what that is. No spoilers here. Definitely five stars for Ms. Blake.
The hero is an OTT alpha who forces the heroine to have sex with him by bodily dragging her home with him and not allowing her to say no. While I actually don't mind this normally (I love dub-con), in this book the heroine doesn't act right. Something didn't click for me. Additionally, the pov was all over the place, lines from both points of view in the same paragraph.
I might go back to it at some point but not right now.
