Arson forces Gideon Keel and his human lovers, Jesse Madding and Emma Coolidge, to find a new home after all their possessions are destroyed. Jesse and Emma are drawn to a decaying mansion that once served as a boarding school, but has long since sat abandoned. With its winding halls and haphazard wings, its private chapel, and its two-story library, the house is too fascinating to refuse. But something sinister lurks in those winding halls. Something violent and dark. Something that locks the house, steals Gideon's memories, possesses Emma's body, and threatens Jesse's life on the evening of their housewarming party. As the night progresses and the body count increases, Jesse must find a way to stop Gideon from killing their friends. Even harder, Jesse must convince the vampire who doesn't remember him, or the love the three of them share, to fight for their lives.

I continue to love this series! In this installment, there are events that happen that really test the strength and nature of the relationship among Jesse, Emma and Gideon. From the start of the story when the fire destroys their home and Jesse saves his lovers, through to the end where they all survive a dark demon who tries to destroy what they have in their new home, I was pretty absorbed in this tale. It’s clear in the early part of the book how much Gideon loves and needs Jesse. Once Gideon was affected by the demon in the latter part of the book, it leaves no question that even in his basest vampire form when it appears that he has very little humanity, Jesse affects Gideon deeply and the strength of their bond and trust feels almost wound up in their DNA. Another great addition to the series!

Intense. A slow start with a almost just sex but when the action begins, it's never stop. Too see Gideon in his old way was interesting and a little scary. I prefer the new Gideon, a lot. Jesse's so strong in this one, both mentally and physically, I'm impressed.
More question in this story than answer, like always!
