Blooming in the Wild
Hawaiian Heroes, Bk #3 by Cathryn Cade

Tropical romance blooms deep in the Hawaiian jungle… but deadly peril is close behind.
A young sporting goods exec leads a team of models and photogs into the remote Hawaiian jungle, for a photo shoot against the backdrop of tropical blooms, along with a cocky, handsome, adventure TV star. But someone wants her plan to wither on the vine. They may even want her dead. Good thing she has a hero close at hand… and a forest that seems to know what she needs, even before she does.

Mainlander Bella Moran is on Hawaii’s Big Island to supervise a photo shoot, then spend some time getting to know her Ho'omalu cousins. But when she and her team reach the rainforest, strange things begin to happen. Her recent dreams about the rainforest come to life. Is she losing her mind, or can she really command the trees, vines and even the flowers here to do her will?
Unfortunately, she finds no rest in her waking hours, either, dealing with the sexy, arrogant star of her shoot. If her dreams don't drive her crazy, he will. The man's not only a horn-dog, he thinks he knows more than she does about everything.
Adventure TV star Joel Girand is ready for a relaxing weekend showcasing tropical camping gear. If he has to put up with an uptight exec like Bella, he may as well have a little flirtatious fun at her expense. He's not prepared to fall for the Hawaiian beauty… but when she lands in his arms, he wants to hold on tight and enjoy the passion that sizzles between them.
In Joel’s arms, Bella feels free to let her new, wild side bloom. But they have little time to relax--they have a saboteur--one who's willing to kill. If Bella and Joel are to stop him, her terrifying new powers must blossom in the light of day. Will Joel still want her when he discovers she may be able to use the plants and vines on her island to kill?

After reading the first two books in this series about brothers David and Daniel Ho'omalu, i expected this book to be just as great. And it did not disappoint. This book was brilliant, steamy, and so interesting. It was great reading about a Hawaiian heroine, even though she is only half-Hawaiian.

Bella Moran lives in Oregon and works at a sporting goods store that is opening in Hawaii. She is in charge of leading an expedition for a photo shoot to advertise their products. The models of this advertisement include 3 young models and a reality star.

Joel Girand is the star of 'The Wild Zone', an action thrill-seeking, outdoor survival show whose ratings are slowly decreasing. He is adventurous and a free spirit, not wanting to settle in one place for long....total opposite of Bella. Bella is a bit uptight and wants to do a good job at her job. She wants to do things by the book and follow rules.

Bella has always felt connected to plants and flowers, but she starts having odd dreams and visions about hearing the forrest speak to her. Once she sets foot on Na'alele, she hears voices in the forrest. Is she going crazy? She already knows about the Ho'omalu's roles of guardians for Pele and starts to think she may have been gifted as well. She realizes that she has been gifted with Peles gifts during a hike in the woods when the plants and trees start reacting to her moods. As her powers grow, so does her desire to stay in Hawaii where she belongs.

Even though Bella and Joel are opposites, they are drawn to each other. Joel gets snippets of Bella's laid back character, and Bella sees that Joel is not just an adrenaline junkie. There is chemistry between them that they try to ignore. The way they end together in the forest and water and cave up is funny, steamy, and orchestrated perfectly. The timing of these 'events' fell into the story at just the right time.

Just like in the first two books, there is danger that brings them closer together. The sister of the drug smugglers from the first two books shows herself. She is someone I wouldn't have suspected. She kidnaps everyone and injures more than one person. Bella's power has peaked and she can't control it. Her Ho'omalu family comes to help her. What an Ohana! The author does a brilliant job at the story line. It is so believable and well written.

I really enjoy books like this...where there is a great story with some humor, some romance, and well-written details about everything from the description of the surroundings to the details of the house to what a character is wearing . In the end, it always works out...but reading it until you get to the happy ending is what it's all about. This was so refreshing, just like the first two books. I've already started the fourth book.

I was immediately drawn to the HAWAIIAN HEROES series since I had lived on Ohau for three years. Although much different that the Big Island of Hawaii, you grow to love them all none the less. Therefore I was curious to say the least how Ms. Cade would detect the Islands, their culture and the overall beauty of what is Hawaii. I have to say she has meet every expectation so much so that I wish I was back there with every one of these books.

Bella Moran has come back to Hawaii to head up a major photo shoot and expedition for the sporting goods company she works for. She starts having strange dreams and visions about the forest and plants speaking to her. Bella has always had an affinity to plants and flowers even loved the forest around Oregon where she lived but knowing the special abilities of her cousins the Ho’omalus she begins to become concerned that she might have some special gifts as well. Once she steps onto the island of Na’alele she thinks she is going crazy when she starts to hear the forest speaking to her in her head. Then the plants and trees start reacting to her moods and she realizes that she has been blessed with the gift from Pele and her powers are only growing. Almost afraid to go into the forest that is calling to her that she won’t be able to leave because she knows in her heart that is where she belongs more than anywhere.

Joel Girand is the star of the ad for the company, he has a TV reality show called The Wild Zone, an outdoor adventure show. He is an action kind of guy, not staying in one place, craving the outdoors and the thrill of adventure. Whereas Bella is more uptight and controlling, at least that is how Joel looks at her, a “Princess”. He just doesn’t know what all she is dealing with and just how “special” Bella is and it’s more to do with what is going on around her that is causing her to act so stiff and uptight.

Even though the two of them have a chemistry so hot they try to deny there was a slow build up and not just jumping into a sleeping bag together the first night. Although one minute they are fighting and flirting trying their hardest to keep themselves apart but then they are wrapped around each other like a vine. Which I have to say Ms. Cade can write some very inventive ways to have sex in the forest, a cave, around a volcano well you get the picture, I hope!

This was a romance for Joel and Bella that just happened naturally together. When an old enemy of the Ho’omalus’ show themselves they fought together to protect one another although Bella had her special abilities, Joel didn’t shy away from her he just accepted her as she was.

To me it was a true romance not where one had to run away and the other had to chase them. It was refreshing to read. Bella worried at first over Joel leaving her to do his job since he wasn’t one to settle down but sometimes you don’t need to travel the world for adventure sometimes it’s right there in your own backyard

Blooming in the Wild is the third book in Cathryn Cade’s Hawaiian Heroes series and I received an ARC to review for Night Owl Romance so I am able to post an early review here. The series’ best elements continue to be the sexy men living in the exotic, romantic setting of Hawaii. As much as I adore her hunky men, it was about time readers got to see a Hawaiian heroine in service to the temperamental volcano goddess! I can't wait to read book 4.

This book was fantastic! Cade is one of my favorite authors. I love he Honey series and so far I have greatly enjoyed the Hawaiian Heroes series.

I loved the hero and heroine. Both for various reasons, how they played/ teased one another, how they treated one another. They were like two halves of a whole, neither could have been happy with someone that was an avid nature lover, and they found that in each other.

The story was great. I loved her powers and how she would hear the plants talking to her.

It was all pretty phenomenal.

Great ideas that were orchestrated perfectly.

Wild Times

I wondered how the newest Ho'omalu was going the help the islands, especially since she just learned she was a protector. The story started a little slowly for me but the action finally picked up after all the introductions and backstory was established. The series is all wonderful but things really get exciting when the bad guys finally show their true colors. Of course, the HEA is necessary. Can't wait for the next Hawaiian adventure.

Great book, great series.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and the series it's a part of. It has rich believable characters, which makes a book for me. The settings are gorgeous, the suspense riveting, and the action intense. Further, I have never heard of another PNR series with a Hawaiian mythos. If you like those qualities, I think you'll enjoy this book.

I found this book harder to get into than the previous 2 books. Ignoring the paranormal aspect, the story was a bit implausible, although you could argue that the danger aspect of all books in this series is a bit thin, the main focus being on the romance. Still an easy, enjoyable read.

Blooming in the Wild

I suspected Camille was up to no good. She was a little interested in Bella. I never thought she would be brave enough to come after them.

Romantic suspense with a paranormal twist. I truly believe that this may just be the best of this series so far.

Bella Moran recently discovered that she is a member of the Ho’omalu ohana and is discovering she may also have the Ho’omalu connection to the islands. She is on Hawaii’s Big Island to supervise a photo shoot for her sporting goods company. The center of the photo shoot is TV adventure show star Joel Girand. The chemistry between the two is volatile and fun to watch. They are tried and tested when strange things happen while on location. Can Bella find strength in her heritage and will Joel finally figure out what it is to love?

I love the location and mystery of this series and hope that Ms. Cade finds a way to continue it beyond the three girlfriends. I for one would like to see Frank and or Zane find their others.

Loved this book! Great action, characters you can believe, scenery descriptions are amazing. Good book length. Not too long, not too short. Totally re-readable. I did read the 3rd book out of order, but I have books 1 & 2 on my TB$ list.
