Volume 2 is a great combination of beloved characters and new:

Christmas in the Sun
I love catch-up stories; the kind where you get to catch up with a beloved pairing. This was the best kind of catch-up, because we got to revisit all 3 couples from Volume 1. On top of that, we got to add in Mutt (who I lost my heart to); add in Christmas; bring back Tasha and Liam for some family love — the end result was perfect. All the feels, interwoven with a storyline that I hoped would continue about Alfie and Peter (mysterious historical lovers on the Cay). I couldn’t stop grinning while reading this.

Capture the Sun
I have to admit, I was a tad bit disappointed for the first half of this story. We never got a single glimpse of Mutt. Not one. For the whole book. And I hit chapter 11 before the only mention of Alfie and Peter (the storyline of the mysterious lovers from the 40s that was set up so beautifully in the previous story). It almost seemed as if Christmas in the Sun was a 0.5 written after the fact and stuffed in between 3 and 5, except for the fact that the whole reason for Mitch being on the island in the first place at all was set up in #4. I was hoping for more continuity on the storylines I loved best.

That being said, Mitch and Isaac were a cute couple, built on an improbable meeting. Their instalove was fun, the setting remains idyllic but . . . so far this was my least fave in the series.

Forever in the Sun
I take back everything I said. Everything. Mutt is back (in Chapter one!). The historical mystery is back and all my favourite characters are back. Shaun and Connor are. . . . gah! (& I mean that in a good way) & I can’t say anything else without spoilers but LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

We are reunited with all the wonderful characters from Volume 1, meet some new intriguing men, and uncover a mystery of forbidden love. There is a fair amount of drama and excitement mixed in with loads of steamy passion and an overabundance of love both old and new.
CHRISTMAS IN THE SUN
We get to delve more into the relationships of the Lucas and Dylan, Edward and Jamie, and Scott and Adam. The importance of family is a main focus of this story and there is a mystery that is revealed.
CAPTURE THE SUN
Isaac is a fashion designer coming out with his first line who is often thought of as young, an airhead - which he definitely is not, or is used for his family connections. Mitch had a past with Dylan and is a workaholic who needs to slow down. There is a strong attraction when Isaac and Mitch meet but also a huge misunderstanding. As they work together, they soon realize they have a genuine attraction but both have insecurities.
FOREVER IN THE SUN
Lucas and Dylan finally get married! We meet new people, and the mystery is resolved and has an impact on many people.
Connor is pushed by his grandfather to do everything he can to stop a story about their ancestor from surfacing. Shaun is a romantic and a writer determined to write the story involving his ancestor. Despite being on opposing sides, the attraction between them soon becomes undeniable.

I've read all of these stories now, and I have to say it's a a beautifully written series, full of romance.

It was lovely to read about Lucas and Dylan again, their love story was still alive and well, and following its further development was so sweet. Scott and Adam were there too, still involved in the running of the hotel, and still as in love as when they first appeared in their story.

The background to all of this is, of course, is the Island, which still works it's magic. There are two new couples introduced. Their stories were also well written, Mitch, Isaac, Shaun and Connor all fitted beautifully into the series as a whole, I couldn't help but get totally involved in their romances.

Best if all though, is that the mystery of the letters, found originally in an earlier book, is resolved. That, in itself, was a sighworthy, if sad tale. Still, it was nice to have the story resolved.

I loved reaching into to the lives of Lucas, Dylan and the others, once again. It was nice to see the island was still working it's magic. Overall, a beautiful love story.

When I discovered this series of one of my favorite authors that I had not read yet, I ended up spending ten days of binge-reading all the books (nicely packed in Volume 1 and Volume 2), and now I just want to buy a flight ticket to the Bahamas and wait for Dylan to pick me up and take me with Lady Liberty to Sapphire Cay. Yes, because the hotel, the beaches, the blu sky, and the stars at night are the glue of all the couples who found their forever love on this island. Straight couples may get married on its beaches but it's gay couples who stick longer and keep the magic of this place alive.

The heat level is medium but the romance is hot. All stories are well balanced and I liked that all MCs were recurring characters in all stories, creating a common thread reaching back to the '30s, '40s and '60s. Perhaps among all couples, the two who less belonged to Sapphire Cay were Mitch and Isaac (second story of Vol. 2).

An overall wonderful series perfect at any time of the year when you need to escape to paradise.

Sapphire Cay is a beautiful island among the swaying palms in the tropical setting of the Bahamas. The books give us the stories of people who find their happiness in this idyllic location. The characters will draw you into their life experiences with family, love, forgiveness, comfort, and many other sometimes complicated issues people deal with along the way, even finding courage to move on to what’s ahead when things have changed. This volume contains three of the insightful stories that will melt your heart as you see the characters facing up to whatever their particular weakness or difficulties might be.

Volume 2 contains the following titles: CHRISTMAS IN THE SUN, CAPTURE THE SUN, and FOREVER IN THE SUN. Whichever you choose to start with, you won’t be disappointed in the content. Since the blurb gives a nice summary, I won’t go into detail. But dive into the stories gathered here in one great collection for your enjoyment! You won’t regret choosing this one. (And Volume 1 is also available if you haven’t read that collection yet.)

The second boxed set of the Sapphire Cay stories contains 3 stories of people visiting and finding their happy ending. As in the first three books Sapphire Cay does its magic for men to find their forever partner - not always easily, but surely. The story that binds the three books together is not only the location, but a mystery. After a brush with a hurricane, the owners find an old letter box with letters and photos from two men who seem to clearly have loved each other, but could not be together permanently. Finding out more about this "original" gay couple of the island is an intrigue meandering through the stories and bringing some interesting characters and developments to the Cay.
A wonderful continuation of the first boxed set.

This collection of Sapphire Cay stories is about much more than romance. It’s about the families we are born into, and the families we make - out of love, out of friendship, out of necessity

Sometimes blood kin who don’t understand your life choices, or the things you don’t really have a choice about, blood kin can be awkward to blend with the family you made.

The people who didn’t care what label you might carry or whom you might live or be drawn to, may have very little understanding for those whom you were born to and have hurt you.

Love and family are always complicated

Intense KU read!

Volume 1 was good but volume 2 is brilliant. Great to catch up with everyone from volume 1 and the developments in their lives, including Mitch meeting his partner Isaac and Dylan unearthing the letters from Peter to Alfie from the war. The story of Peter and Alfie was heart breaking and it was beautifully written the way their story as told and linked in to their descendants Connor and Shaun. A great conclusion to 6 very good books.

Another great sweet collection of stories:
Christmas in the Sun: Lucas and Dylan get married and it is such a sweet continuation of theirs and everyone else from Volume 1
Capture the Sun: Mitch and Isaac is a great May/December story, loved them
Forever in the Sun: Conner and Shaun were so good together and with their story is the story of an old love story from the island and it was good. Loved it and was so glad for their HEA

Three great stories surrounding characters we cannot help but fall in love with. From a Christmas Holiday with those that make their lives complete, a storyline filled with a secret that a family never wanted to be revealed to the understanding that sometimes the truth can set you free makes this a great collection. I find the need to go back and start the series from the beginning and fall in love all over again.

A lovely finish .

Split into 3 different stories.

Book Four Christmas In The Sun.

In this story we catch up with all the guys and their partners from the previous 3 stories. It’s good to see how all their relationships have progressed so far and what they are doing with their lives. We also find about the mystery box that was left before many many years ago. I can’t wait for the next instalment to see where it leads us. It also reintroduced us to Mitch from the very beginning.

Book Five Capture The Sun. Mitch and Issac.

We catch up with Mitch Dylan’s ex from book one. Mitch has a one night stand on a lonely Christmas Eve and he can’t seem to get this guy out of his head. Issac has been mistaken for a lot of things being a ex model but an escort is a first. He is used to being labelled as an airhead and being used for his family connections. When he bumps into his one night stand can he let his guard down.

Book Six Forever In The Sun.

It’s finally the wedding and as normal nothing ever runs smoothly. But love conquers all. It was good to catch up with everyone again. But my favorite part was the outcome of the box. I love a mystery and it just added a little something to these stories.

The Cay seems to be a gay heaven for love and hopeless cases. Fantastic stories and a pleasure to read.

What a great series!

The Sapphire Cay series consists of 6 books, each available individually but also available in two 3-book volumes (which saves you money). While each book probably could stand alone this is a series that I strongly suggest you read in order.

The stories all revolve around the private island called Sapphire Cay. In book one we are introduced to Dylan and Lucas and these two men appear at least briefly in each of the other stories.

In book 4 a mystery is introduced that will pop-up in the remaining stories with a resolution coming in book 6. I loved the length of each of these stories. Sometimes I don't have the time or inclination to get involved in a long book. Novella length books, like each of these individual stories, are great for those times. But for readers who enjoy longer stories the collections can also provide that.

I loved how these books had the ability to transport me to another place. I actually live near a beach but reading about a private island and the beach and waterfall found there was just magical for me. The stories aren't difficult or intense reading but they are wonderful love stories with RJ Scott's trademark HEA.

The mystery I mentioned above is a wonderful love story from another time contained within the love stories set in present day and it really touched my heart.

I have never read an RJ Scott story that I didn't like and these books written with Meredith Russell are no exception.
