I just read because I wanted to know the history and how it ended.
As always the heroines are idiots who act like a doormat for cheaters heroes.
Hero having sex with another woman in the wedding night is a big NO for me.
There's no forgiveness.
But these heroines don't have brains or backbone.

This book was a heck of a lot better than the first one. I had to wait some time for it but at the end, it was worth it. Anneke's heart was crushed when she walked in on Marcus. She didn't think she could recover and decided to live as ghost. Anneke does her best to fool everyone but her brother knows best. Marcus realizes his grave mistake and does everything to win her back. I love how he doesn't just try once, and when it doesn't work, he gives up. He gave her space and fought for her on multiple occasions. I LOVE when a hero does that. Overall the book was great. Anneke deserved her happy ending as well as Marcus. He's demons had haunted him for too long

This is a 4.5 for me because of the slight little errors I came across. Otherwise I loved this.
It's been a long wait for this second installment in the Italian Beast story, and with how heartbreaking the first one left me, you can imagine that I was very excited and frightened about starting this. When I finally did read it, I was feeling a number of things. Relieved that Marcus' character was explained. Saddened and horrified with what he went through. Angry about the hurt they both went through. Hooked with the whole thing.
I felt a lot of things, and it's one of the reasons why I love reading these stories. Marcus was a class-A jerk but for his own reasons. If there's one thing this author never fails to do, it's change my perspective on love. I love the jerk alphas and for her to give them dark pasts and reasons for being the way they are, and giving them reasons to change for the better, is why I stick around. I love the heartache it gives me when they mess up, and I love seeing them- both the hero and heroine -struggle with choosing to stay hard and safe or risk another heartbreak but for something that might as well be eternal love and happiness. Personally, this book- this author -is everything for me. I'm never bored with her work, and this book was another heartache I gladly devoured. It made me FEEL, and it always makes me believe a little more in having a love that I'd never want to give up on. I'd also like to think I'm smart enough to sense a good egg from a bad (so don't be a hater), but overall, I highly recommend this Italian Beast for those emotional rides with stories about forgiveness and compassion that I think should be done more often.

After seeing Marcus have a dom/submissive act done on their wedding night, Anneke tried very hard to move on with her life, but she was struggling. Marcus was beyond himself and he was destroying his life. His friend and his wife took over the company so it wouldn't be destroyed by negligee. When his friend told him what he did to his wife at the beginning of their marriage and what he put his wife through and what he did to get her back, Marcus made the decision to get help. After his therapist felt Marcus was ready to have a normal relationship and he had to trust himself to take the leap. Marcus and Anneke started their relationship from the beginning. They dated, talked a lot and both made the decision to always tell the truth. After awhile, Marcus previous submissive told a reporter about his previous lifestyle during a interview. Anneke left again and went on a vacation to think clearly. Marcus mother visited and asked for her to give her son a 2nd chance but Anneke was not giving in, until the mother begged Anneke. Marcus showed Anneke a video of his therapy sessions and what his parents made him do since he was a child, she understood why he lived the lifestyle with no disregard for others feelings. They celebrated their 1st anniversary. That night after their party, Anneke wanted to experience some of the submissive experiences, Marcus did not want her to do this, but she insisted. When he was going to use the flogger, she stiffen and was extremely nervous. Marcus found it funny and said he would try it while she was sleeping. ❤😉
I felt Anneke was pushing him back into the lifestyle by asking him to give her the experience.

Brilliant ending!
Definitely better than the first, although the lead up happens in the first book, this one has the angst you'd expect loving a douch head like Marcus.
When the past collides with you're future, and you cause so much pain to someone as sweet as pie, who forgives your bull crap? You best believe you've a lot to make for Marcus!!

Dom/Sadist/UnDom??!!
Just what exactly are you Marcus? You confuse me and this book depicts redemption and forgiveness, but no clue about Dom or not. The explanation Marcus gives Anneke as why he did not consummate their marriage just does not do it for me. Toss him, Anneke.

I need to take deem breaths, a lot of them...I just finished this part II ! Every single second of waiting is valid !! Marcus and Anneke are the most amazing, lovely, messed and complex couple that I'd have already read abougado. They are intense, sexy and show us that love is always the better thing that can happen to us, that love can heal everything and every wound. I'm going to read it again and again and again. Congrats my dear Marian, you're the best !

I wish the couple had spent more time together. It seemed they were apart for most of the book.
