Over the past year, things have been relatively peaceful within the Planetary Alliance. Captain Jason Reynolds is looking forward to a fishing trip in the deep wilderness on Alantia Dastile with Michael, his six-year-old son. His wife, Dira, and his father, the Fleet Omni, are away on a diplomatic mission to the Sommis of Adriark. It’s the perfect time for an interstellar getaway. Or is it?
Jason just needs to check on one thing first—a flurry of mechanical issues recently plaguing the Parcical, the Omni’s Rogue Class spacecraft—something about a Zoo habitat using increasing amounts of the vessel’s memory; that, and a flurry of malfunctions with onboard Caldurian technologies.
Caught off guard, it’s soon discovered: a different kind of war is coming. The Alliance is not prepared. The U.S. Fleet is not prepared. A new enemy rears its ugly head and quickly becomes the dominant force within the sector. For those who survive the coming rampage — the coming war — everything will change.
I have always enjoyed reading this series of books, and this latest book is no different. Captain Reynolds was hoping to take his son fishing, but his father needs to go on what he thinks will be a simple diplomatic visit. But things are not what they seem, a new enemy has been building new alliance's. A virus has infected the ships of the Star Watch leaving them open to attack, can Captain Reynolds and his crew defeat the virus and the attacking fleet?
In four decades reading Sci-fi, I've oftened marveled at the imaginations of writers capable of suspending reality; and doing so without apology. For me the better writers don't try to explain their imaginations to us readers. They tell us stories with the full conviction that the tech used by their characters exists...it just does. In his Star Watch series, author McGinnis weaves together plausible storylines that keep me turning pages. I can't wait for the next installment!
5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for all Scrapyard fans!
What a great next step in an already awesome series. The author has continued to expand in his storytelling skill and his ability to draw us back into the universe (multiverse) he has created. This is not really a stand alone book, but for anyone who has been reading the series it is a must read. I love the fact that it sets us up for a whole new story arc! The only downside is now I have to wait for the next book. Keep them coming.
Overall I enjoyed the series but was disappointed in the last book as it leaves you hanging. Also in this series of six books our heroes defeat several bad guys and then the bad guys come back again and the fights start over in more epic proportions. The last book has all the bad guys coming back all at once but then the series ends. Years later the author picks up the series again so I'll have to see where that takes us :-)
I know this is an older series and most people have probably read it, but hey, I just recently ran across it. When talking about the last book I stated that recycling old enemies was a lazy way of generating more books, and thus more income. But for Pete’s sake, you wanna recycle everyone of them? C’mon man. You’re better than that.
Starwatch book 6 was very entertaining. I could hardly put it down. I’m hoping there is another book in the series I have enjoyed every one of them.
Star watch books 6 was very entertaining. I could hardly put it down and enjoyed every word of it. I hope that there will be another installment in this serious.
Many of the old crew and lots of newbies. I've been away from Star Watch for a while but found that I still thoroughly enjoyed their company again 😊 It's a stand alone but you'll enjoy it even more if you read the series.
A nice read but a bit convoluted., at times it made it very easy to put it down. I'm still not sure of the relationship between some of the characters and I already finished the book.
A Good continuation story Found the ending a little fuzzy But assume that it was to make you interested in the following book Keep up the good work I'm looking forward to the next 1
I loved the storey line it was great I couldn't stop reading. I am hoping that Jason and Billy and the others come up with away to take out the bad guys.
Like all of the other books in this series this book sucks you in and doesn’t let you go until it’s over. Great story line and. as always, great battles.
From scrapyard books to this last installment I love them all. A complicated universe or(multiverse) with interesting characters. Waiting for the next one!
Another great book in the Scrapyard / Star Watch series
These books are definitely habit forming. I would like to see the audible book be available at the same time as the kindle edition. There are a lot of loose ends with this book, really curious to see how 2 ton gets back to the group.
I choose this book because it sounded like a fun read. Then. Became hooked on the characters. Each and everyone one of them. I love ricket, he is one small nerd of all nerds. You well never be bored reading any one of the series. I highly recommend you read all of Mr. McGInnis books. They,re great.
The gang is all back together again and they are in another fight for their lives. So much fun so much more reading fun. Can't wait for the next book. Thanks, Mark
FANTASTIC CAN"T PUT DOWN ANY OF THE SIX IN THE SERIES
So glad to find this author. Don't know when he sleeps. Thank you family for allowing his mind to produce for all this great reading for us to addicted fans to enjoy.
I simply and thoroughly love taking a breather from life... and reading Mark Wayne McGinnis Star Watch Books: Scrapyard Legacy, Boomer and the other titles I haven't so impatiently had time to read yet. Its great storytelling with living fleshed characters and fun situations, circumstances and rage against all odds. I would love to see these books turned into a series of movies!
