Immerse yourself in Christopher Paolini's land of Alagasia in this captivating Eragon coloring book that features more than forty pieces of brand-new, exclusive art from award-winning fantasy illustrator Ciruelo, with perforated pages that allow you to easily remove your favorite images.
Christopher Paolini was born in Southern California and has lived most of his life in Paradise Valley, Montana. He published his first novel, Eragon, in 2003 at the age of nineteen, and quickly became a publishing phenomenon. His Inheritance Cycle—Eragon and its three sequels—have sold nearly 40 million copies worldwide. To Sleep in a Sea of Stars was his first adult novel.
Paolini, Christopher, and Ciruelo (illustrator). The Official Eragon Coloring Book. No page numbers (publisher says over 40 illustrations). Alfred A. Knopf (Random House), 2017. $15.99. Content: G.
Fans of the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini and fans of adult coloring books will love this book. Adjacent to every illustration/coloring page is an excerpt from one of the four books from the Inheritance Cycle (Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, Inheritance). The excerpt explains the action going on in the illustration. The illustrations/coloring pages are detailed and have patterns that both teens and adults will enjoy coloring in. Because it is a coloring book, in my opinion, this lovely book is not library material. However, it would be a great prize for a library contest or a lovely gift for a fan of the series.
Fans of the Inheritance cycle will be thrilled to find this coloring book with 40 different illustrations inspired by the popular series. Each black-and-white illustration covers an entire page and accompanies a passage from one of the books, starting with Eragon and concluding with Inheritance. The images are fresh and eye-appealing and allow readers to put their own spin on the images with their choice of colors. For those who just cannot get enough of the series, this is the perfect gift. As I read the excerpts and examined the images, I was reminded again of how much I enjoyed reading those books and how impressed I was with the imagination of such a young writer. For those who are not as familiar as others might be with the images, there are captions set alongside the illustrations.
The story quotes were a simple way to share the story. The pictures were well drawn and I am sure they will be fun to color. I received this book for free as part of a contest at GoodReads
Despite the somewhat mixed reviews of the original series, I loved the Eragon books. So I was beyond excited to get this book in the mail. At first, I thought there was a bit of story to the book because there are quotes across from each coloring page, but it's really just the section describing the image. While that's really cool, it almost makes it more confusing because the story (based solely on the quoted sections) makes no sense and jumps so much. BUT! the coloring pages are so good. I have several adult coloring books and the most irritating thing in them is that there is no border on the coloring pages. Not this book; this one has some gorgeous borders just waiting to be colored in.
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**
