الكتاب يفصل باشياء و يجمل أشياء
و عدم سبب تكميلي له هو أني اريد ان اقرا في التاريخ و الفكر الإسلامي ثم الرجوع إليه لتسهيل عملية القراءة

Kitap, 28 makaleden oluşan bir derleme. Makaleler ortalama 20 sayfa ve her biri farklı bir yazar tarafından kaleme alınmış. Tasavvuf tarihi üzerine epey makale olması, kişisel merakım nedeniyle kitabı benim için daha da çekici kıldı. Osmanlı, Safevi ve Babürlü karşılaştırmaları üzerinden ilerleyen yazıları okurken de çok keyif aldım.
Dönem günümüze yaklaştıkça metinlerin sosyolojik perspektifle zenginleşmesi, eseri salt bir tarih kitabı olmanın ötesine taşıyor. Bazı makalelerde Çin ve Uzak Asya İslam’ı kısaca anılmış olsa da; yer yer tekrar hissi veren bazı bölümler çıkarılıp bu coğrafyalara müstakil yazılar ayrılsaydı, kitap çok daha kapsayıcı olabilirmiş. Yine de küresel ağları dikkate alan karşılaştırmalı yapısıyla okuyucuya oldukça kapsamlı bir perspektif kazandırıyor.
