Rate this book
When Heather Shepherd starts work on a Monday in her beloved Donut Delights, she’s preparing for a murder-free week.

But another body turns up – the owner of the local Tourism Depot has been murdered and the evidence at the crime scene tampered with. Heather can’t let this one slide, especially since it appears that someone is out to sabotage the investigation. Armed with a box of her Peaches and Cream Donuts, a thirst to put another case to rest, and Amy, who’s finally qualified to investigate alongside her, Heather embarks on another sleuthin’ adventure. But the mixed up evidence, the lack of leads and the strange behavior from the victim’s family members stands in the way of truth and justice.

Heather must get to the bottom of this one or risk another negative report in the newspaper and a Hillside murderer on the loose.

Heather and employees back from vacation, relaxing before the rush. Ryan calls and wants her and Amy to come down to the Tourist Depot right away. Amy doing her exam for being a PI, so only Heather went. Finding there had been a murder, place clean of any prints. A broken window was that the means of someone getting in or out. The wife was more concern about having an alibi and the will, then her husband’s death. He didn’t work on Sunday, but was going to this time, with business booming.
Interesting short story to figure out who killed hm and knew he would be at work on that day.

Heather Shepherd and her baking assistants from her popular bakery, Donut Delights finally got home after their vacation in Florida. All of Hillside, Texas is happy to have the bakery open again so they can once again dine on Heather's donut delights. No one is happier than long time client Eva Schneider who has brought her friend Carly LaFonte.

Carly is not in a good mood and Eva explains that Carly has lost her favorite sterling silver necklace. But Eva’s friend is not a nice person and even Eva says that she doesn’t trust her.

But before Heather can think much about mean Carly her husband, Police Detective Ryan Shepherd, calls and tells Heather that yet another murder has taken place in their home town. This time the victim is Shane Price who owns the Tourism Depot. Heather leaves for the store to investigate the murder as she is hired by the Hillside Police Department to work with them as a consultant.

There is a broken window at the back of the store and Heather thinks that this might be the place where the murderer entered but Ryan tells her that the spray pattern of the glass proves otherwise. He also believes that the crime scene was tampered with because there is no evidence at all. It’s almost as if the killer cleaned up after himself.

Shane’s wife and ex beauty queen, Hannah, is on the suspect list because she doesn’t seem all that upset over the death of her husband, is more concerned about his will, and she had a quick alibi for the time he was killed.

Tristan Turner, who worked for Shane and found his body, is also on the suspect list as is another of Shane’s employees, Jean LaFonte, who supposedly had been having an affair with Shane. Making things more interesting is that Jean is also the granddaughter of Eva’s friend, Carly.

Heather and her friend, Amy Givens, investigates and finds out a few things. Shane and Tristan argued all the time; others also believe that Jean was having an affair with her Shane; and Carly is getting very defensive about her granddaughter and is loudly warning Heather to stay away from Jean.

So many suspects but Heather and Amy will help the Hillside Police find the killer while still creating some luscious donuts in their free time.

“Peaches and Cream Murder” by Susan Gillard is the 41st installment of her Donut Hole Cozy Mystery Series and of course it’s another good one. All the usual characters are present and accounted for and ready to help Heather in any way possible.

This is a cute series and each book can be read in a day. The murders are interesting and easy to follow. No wonder Ms. Gillard has such a huge fan base. Yet another Donut Hole Mystery not to be missed.

Alright, one more plot point is complete, and boy am I happy about it. It's nice having Ryan back in the book. Also, having Amy getting her PI license was a smart move for the story. It's an enjoyable little read, and I do enjoy that we got to find out the back story of the victim. It is the aspect that I enjoyed the most about this book.

Also, we get to see a little bit more character development with Eva, and Amy in this book. The characters are starting to have more substance again, which is good, however, I which it was closer to the beginning of the series and not so far in. But, it's better late than never.

Overall it is a fun little read.

Heather, Amy and the rest of the Donut Delights employees are back from their trip to Florida. Everyone is happy to be back at work and Eva is happy to be able to get her donuts again.
Heather gets that call from Ryan again asking for help when the owner of the Tourism Depot is found dead. Hard case to solve with not many clues, but many suspects.
Amy has gotten her PI license and is now officially part of the investigation. She has also decided to take it upon herself to stop the bad publicity in the local paper about Heather.
So sit back and enjoy a donut and a mystery.

Peaches and Cream Murder is the 41st installment in Susan Gillard’s Donut Hole Cozy Mystery series and is a quick, easy, fun, and clean read, but is in need of editing and proofing. Heather’s latest case for the Hillside Police Department is the death of Shane Price, the owner of Tourism Depot. One of the employees found the body in the gift shop. This will be a difficult case to solve because someone attempted to clean up the scene and the evidence has been compromised. Amy is excited because she just received her private investigator’s license and can officially be part of the investigation.

Back from their vacation and Heather gets another call from Ryan with another found body. Heather and newly licensed PI Amy head out to find out what really happened and still back in the shop to make the best tasting donuts (I would really like a couple of these). Amy is also determined to stop the bad publicity about Heather in the local paper.

Another great read. I love this series and can't wait to see the next donut creation and read the next book.

Susan Gillard once again had me on the edge of my seat, as I followed Heather Shepherd and Amy Givens on their journey for justice. The Donut Hole Mystery series is a perfect mix of suspense and humour.

I'm looking forward to seeing what this maven of mystery has in store for her next instalment of The Donut Hole Mystery series!!!

Even after forty one visits to Hillside, Susan Gillard has consistently kept her story lines fresh and entertaining. This book, like the ones before it, is a clean, quick read, and a nice way to spend a couple of hours.

Peaches and Cream donut is the featured donut at
Heather Shepherd's Donut Delights shop.
Detective Ryan Shepherd calls Heather for her help.
Heather is also as a certified investigative consultant
to the Hillside Police Department.
A local store owner has been found murdered and
the crime scene has been compromised. Someone
started to clean up. This removed fingerprints and
an DNA from the crime scene.
Amy Givens, Heather's best friend and cohort has
gotten her Private Investigators license. She is now
able to be officially part of the investigation!!!
But to do not forget Dave, the dog and Cupcake, the
cat who accompany Heather and Amy on several
interviews.
This is book # 41 in the Donut Hole Cozy series. It
can be read as a stand alone.
The characters are real and well developed. There
are several suspects to keep the readers interest.
I volunteered to read this eBook. Thanks to the author
for this opportunity. My opinion is my own.

In this, the 41st in the series, Heather is getting ready to celebrate Amy passing her PI test when Ryan calls her about another murder but a very strange one at that. Someone tried to clean up after the murder and while they didn't do a great job of that , it was enough to leave them with very few clues. They are also dealing with more lies printed in the Hillside Reporter. Amy decides to do something about that but you'll have to read the book to know what she did and if it worked.
