The Boss's Nine-Month Negotiation
The passion she could never forget…
When fiercely independent Sienna Newman's memory is lost, she's transported back to those blissful nights with her ex-boss, powerful Argentinean Emiliano Castillo! And with the news of her pregnancy sending shock waves through them both, she tentatively accepts Emiliano's invitation to his luxurious private island…
When Emiliano realizes Sienna has no idea how they were torn apart, he knows it's a race against time to secure his claim on his child—and Sienna!—before her memories return. Can the seduction of a lifetime convince her that she's where she belongs…in his bed?

4 Stars!

I love a good romance with the amnesia trope thrown in, The Boss’s Nine-Month Negotiation also had the added treat of an unexpected pregnancy as well, so this was a story I did not struggle to read.
"When your memories return I hope you will give me a chance to offer up my better qualities and plead my case on any faults you find…"
I really enjoyed Maya’s writing, although initially you would assume that Sienna is the vulnerable of the two, what with being pregnant and to a man she doesn’t fully remember, it is actually Emiliano who is the one that you end up seeing more vulnerability from as their story progresses.
"Everything you crave, you only have to ask for and it’ll be yours."
There are a lot of layers to this story, not just the aforementioned, but Emiliano family and Sienna’s lack of one as well. I liked them both as characters, and I loved the way the amnesia gave the reader a chance to see the other side of Emiliano, because for all his alpha-demandingness, there was also a sweet and considerate guy to be seen as well, especially in the latter stages of the story.
"I’m all yours…"
"Si… you are."
A really enjoyable read, and I hope that we get to see more of the Castillo family, especially Emiliano’s brother who I believe could also do with his own Happily ever after.

Solid 3 stars, a b minus read, lacking chemistry was the main thing if you ask me. But overall good book.
Heroine broke off relationship because she found out hero was engaged to OW. She has an accident later on, has partial amnesia (this one was believable, only couple of weeks, blocking out troubled part), hero finds out she's pregnant (actually hero finally finds heroine who has made sure she stays away from the "scumbag", gets married, and works toward their HEA. This one is a safe read. Mention of both OM and OW, but both celibate, as neither was ready to move on, specially hero, he was nowhere ready to give up.
Hero was actually really ok. not alpha at all, and was really quite sorry for the fuck ups, which he was not so directly responsible.
Hero's parents were just pure selfish self indulgent ostrich kind.
The kind who'd make you feel like shit if you're happy because they WERE unhappy at some point of life so apparently you have no right to happiness.
The kind who thinks kids are "produced" for future benefit and sacrifice is only way to show your loyalty to family.
What we had was string of misunderstandings which could have been avoided, hero wanted to avoid it, but the parents insisted on continuing because him being happy is pure selfish whereas them being happy and living a luxurious life is their right.
Even when the hero fixed everything, his mum's reaction was - but you wouldn't HAVE to FIX it THIS way if you just married the OW instead of the love of your life and be happy, and WE could have been happy instead of you.
Of course this isn't a direct quote, but this the gist of it, of what she said in front of Hero's amnesic pregnant wife.
Hero's father goes further, fully knowing about the head trauma and asks her if she trapped him and made him marry her by getting pregnant, and was that why he went back on his word, meaning not marrying the OW, which, in real life was NEVER the case.
Hero kept on saying in no uncertain terms "i. am. not. marrying. the. OW."
the parents - "we have made the deal, when can you sacrifice you?"
the deal was originally made with the firstborn in mind. who broke up with his GF, was ready to make the sacrifice and had an accident and went into a coma.
the parents decided to leave him like that and use him as a leverage on the younger one.
The heroine misunderstood, within reasons, that's why hero has never blamed her for dumping him or moving on. He really wanted her back.
What he did was cowardly, but what all our HP heroes do when our heroines manage to get amnesia.
I mean if the hero isn't going to marry them in the meantime, what IS the point of amnesia?
so altogether, I think both MCs deserved their HEA. Hell, the brother and the OW deserved THEIR HEAs.
The parents should really have died in a yacht accident.

On page 96 I gave up on The Boss's Nine-Month Negotiation. I tried to like it however there was too much telling the story and not enough showing the story which made it underwhelming 96 pages of reading.
The big problems-
the storytelling. It felt forced. Very much like reading a newspaper. I never felt a connection to the romance as a result.
the heroine. She was annoying. A cold feminist. So focused on career. She got emotional over the hero leaving when she chose to be in a modern shack up. No love was even mentioned yet she felt shattered when he decided to marry. Why? She wasn't mentioning marriage.
The feminist who really wasn't. Not a fan. I like more traditional heroines.
I finally gave up interest when it was revealed the heroine took a blood test to ensure she was "clean of std's". That told me she was really slutty prior. A big NO for me. So I stopped reading.
A feminist fantasy which failed to get my interest

Very emotional love story. Hero and heroine are having an affair but his parents pressure him to marry a woman for business merger. Heroine finds out about his engagement and leaves him. After an accident she loses her memory. Hero finds out she is pregnant and takes advantage of her amnesia to make her his wife.
I loved both Sienna and Emiliano. Sienna was cold at first but after she lost her memory she became a soft and sweet heroine. I liked the angst and I was eagerly waiting for her to regain her memory. Very compelling read! I am not sure but I think h wasnt a virgin. I didn't mind because she didn't dwell on her past at all.

Detesto.

April 14, 2017Why didn't the H just communicate with her for crying out loud. All he had to say was my parents are trying to force this OW down my throat but I don't want to and I am trying to find a way out of it. But no he doesn't call her and then he is so cryptic I wanted to throw something at him. I did love the story but I just hated the whole premise of it. There was another book this month with amnesia and pregnancy too which I liked but enough already. Just talk to each other. But I guess we wouldn't have HP's then. LOL
I did love the story and I loved the h too. She was strong and had a backbone. She also had morals and wouldn't be his piece on the side. I liked that. And what about his parents? Wow such evil people. I can't wait to read the story about his brother. There has to be one right? That is the HP way lately. Keep you buying.

4.5 stars - I do love a good amnesia tale ;) Coincidentally, my second amnesia book in a row. Lucky me. I really like Maya Blakes writing style, my favourite being her series The Untameable Greeks - 3 Book Box Set: The Untamable Greeks Book 1. In saying that this book was almost impossible to put down, I only bought it a few hours ago and I've already devoured it!
About the book - SOME SPOILERS AHEAD - Sienna and Emiliano have been lovers for around a year. With his brother in a coma, his parents demand that he marries a business associates daughter or they will be destitute. Before he is able to tell Sienna, she sees the news of his "engagement" in the newspaper. Sienna storms out of Emilianos apartment and life, seeing him in across the restaurant a month later when she is having dinner with her recruiter. They have a huge argument, Sienna runs off and slides on the icy road ending up in a coma and when she eventually wakes up, with......... AMNESIA (now we're talking) and pregnant. The plot then centers around an increasingly desperate & besotted Emiliano trying to shelter Sienna from the truth. I adored the epilogue with Emiliano's brother Matias (who had woken up from his coma and recovered). I'm very hopeful we'll eventually see Matias' story - maybe this year?

I couldn't put this novel down. Just had to find out how Sienna and Emiliano's story ends. After a bad breakup Sienna is trying to move on with her life. While out to dinner with a headhunter, Sienna realises Emiliano is in the restaurant. Desperate to hurt him she tells him she is on a date, and its the third date. Emiliano knows what this means. They quarrel for awhile, Sienna desperate to leave doesn't see the ice. She falls and hits her head. When she awakens she finds out she had to have an operation and cant remember who she is. She slowly starts to remember some things, but cant remember how badly things ended with Emiliano. To make matters more complicated she finds out she is pregnant. Emiliano regretted how things ended and wants her back. He sees this as a chance to right some wrongs. At the start of this book Emiliano comes across as a typical arrogant alpha male. By the end of the book we see he also has a sweet side.

I really enjoyed this story. You could feel the intense emotions between the hero, and heroine. The two had been in a relationship for a year. Sienna chose to keep it a secret because she worked for him. She could feel him pulling away from her. He then took a trip to see his parents. I really didn't care for his parents at all. After that everything went bad. His parents were forcing him to marry another lady to save the family's business. Sienna found out Emiliano is engaged to marry someone else. A short while later Sienna had a accident, and ended up with amnesia. I loved the way Emiliano took care of her throughout the story. You could tell he really did love her. The two found out she was pregnant when she was in the hospital. It turned out to be a really sweet love story.

This book had a little of everything:
Cold uncaring parents
A brother in a coma
A shady deal which requires marriage to resolve
A strong, but tender h whose heart is sure to be demolished
An macho-as-hell alpha male H who doesn’t understand the word “tender”
Amnesia - the h of course
Marriage during amnesia - shady as “f”!
Recovered memory that leads to hell on earth for the H
Oops, I almost forgot pregnancy
I enjoyed the hell out of this book. It kept me enthralled. The characters were amazing, the story wonderfully written and so much fun! Absolutely worth the buying price!

A tempestuous relationship goes through some dramatic ups and downs in this latest romance by Maya Blake. Sienna Newman is excited to be seeing her lover Emiliano Castillo after his brief absence during a trip home to Argentina. The fact that she’s wanted to keep their relationship hidden, since he’s her boss, is a sore point between them but she still has high hopes for their future – until she discovers that he’s become engaged to another woman!
Emiliano’s trip home was a disaster in more ways this one. With his brother Matias in the hospital, it’s up to him to save the family fortune and marrying into the family of the man who holds their debt seems to be the only solution. Caught between his duty and his lover, he chooses duty. Sienna leaves him, rightly so, yet he can’t stop thinking about her. When he sees her out with another man, his jealousy is acute, but in her haste to get away from him Sienna falls and hits her head.
When Sienna wakes up in hospital, her memory loss seems to be short term, the last two months gone. Believing she and Emiliano are still together and that she still works for him, the news that she is three months pregnant is a shock to them both. Emiliano is determined that he won’t lose this chance to be a father, and must find a way to fix everything so that he and Sienna can be together once again. But when Sienna regains her memory, will the knowledge that they had broken off their affair once already break her heart again?
I always find it interesting to read about an established couple (at least somewhat in this case) who find themselves going through rocky times before getting to their real happy ever after. An amnesiac event is a sure way to bring the characters together and rekindle the relationship between them, no matter what’s occurred in the past.
Emiliano is in a tough fix. Obligated to help out his family, a marriage of convenience with a woman he doesn’t love (who was supposed to marry his now injured brother) will ruin what he has with Sienna. Though he hasn’t professed his love for Sienna, he’s showered her with gifts and affection. Their love scenes are passionate and intense, as are their arguments. With the knowledge that Sienna is carrying his child and doesn’t remember their breakup, he’s all the more determined to find a way to end the bind his family has put him in. His solution puts an end to one problem, but leads to more as they find their way to their happy ending.
Their family situations on the surface seem completely opposite. Sienna is an orphan, while Emiliano has grown up in a wealthy and privileged lifestyle. But regardless of their upbringing, both of them are lacking in emotional bonds since childhood, which makes their attachment to each other all that much stronger. In the end they find that bond has led to love after all, and there is a sweet epilogue too. This is a passionate, turbulent romance with drama and intensity that fans of the author and the Harlequin Presents line will enjoy.

I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review via Netgalley.
I really enjoyed this story, although I took a few issues with the behaviour of the hero which ultimately made it a four star read.
For a moment at the beginning of the story I didn't actually realise who the heroine was going to be, and to that end I don't think it really needed the meeting with the hero's parents as it could have been referred to rather than played out.
I liked the London, Argentina, Paris etc glamorous locations, the feisty relationship between the hero and heroine Emiliano and Sienna, especially how clever and ambitious Sienna was. I felt that her background could have been expanded upon a bit more - I could see Emiliano facilitating that due to his powerful connections, even if he found reports on her abandonment.
Although I enjoyed their passionate relationship, I did find the scenes in the restaurant a bit much when it seemed that Emiliano was manhandling Sienna to the point where I feared he might actually strike her.
The amnesia/ baby plot has been done before, but I also felt that the way it was resolved showed a depth to the hero's character that really redeemed him, and his close relationship with his brother was also nice to see.

Emiliano and Sienna have quite a cold and odd relationship. They have been dating a year and living together for six months. Emiliano is Sienna's boss and she doesn't want people at work to know about them which has caused some friction between them.
We don't get to read much about how they got together and then early on in the story they split up but then Sienna loses her memory after an accident and can remember Emiliano but not much else. However, she remembers they are in a relationship so Emiliano sees it as his chance to get her back but even so he worries about what will happen when her memory returns.
They were both closed off characters and so I didn't really care about them much. The story lacked emotion and the ending was rushed and the declarations seemed over the top.
It was an OK read but nothing special.

Sienna Newman is Emiliano Castillo's PA and also his lover. When he is called home as his brother is in a coma he finds that he must fulfill a promise. His brother was to marry a women of his fathers choosing in order to save him from bankruptcy. When his brother cannot fulfill his father orders Emiliano to take his place. Back home Sienna waits her lover and is thinking of finally letting people know of their relationship, as she kept it a secret from the other employees. However may be too late because on her birthday when Emiliano comes home she finds out about his impeding engagement. Loving him she confront him but when he becomes angry she runs and falls. When she awakens its to no memory of the past and the reality that she is pregnant. Ms. Blake has written a wonderful amnesia story that all romance readers will get totally wrapped up in. loved it.

Emiliano Castillo is another pitiful type in a long chain of romantic dead weights. He has heated arguments with his latest mistress, the vice-president of his company (!), which are usually resolved by equally heated moments in bed.
I know such things happen in real life. There are people who equate passion with shouting matches in public and then hot make-up sex between the sheets afterwards. But these rarely lead to happy marriages or long-term commitments. Sooner or later, one or both partners realize that they have nothing going for them except sexual chemistry. That’s not enough to ensure a lasting, wholesome relationship. Such affairs are nothing more than meteors that shine brightly, then crash and burn.
But you’ve got romantic novelists who’d have you believe otherwise. Emiliano and Sienna’s relations are doomed but neither are willing to let it go. Then Emiliano learns that he’s been made to honor an arranged marriage pact forged by his parents. Brooding and angry, he comes back to his penthouse and makes the oblivious, bewildered Sienna the butt of his rage. When she wants to know what’s troubling him, he turns every statement back on her, accusing her of being clingy, needy and crazy. In between these self-serving statements, he keeps asking her to calm down and listen to HIM!
Isn’t this male bushwa of a particularly nasty type? Accusing the woman of being the nutty and emotional one as a way of appearing in the right and forestalling an argument? Rather than calling Emiliano on his nonsense, Sienna then initiates the sex, effectively silencing him even though she’s now harboring terrible inner doubts about where their relationship is headed.
Sex shouldn’t be used to fix a relationship. It’s not a way to stop an argument. It’s not a way to ensure happiness or care from your partner. Sex used in this way isn’t about love, lust, passion or desire. It’s all about wielding power over another person.
This is romance of the lowest order, one awash in deceit, deliberate misunderstandings, manipulation, secrecy, control and domination. Emiliano is a scumwad all wrapped up in designer clothes and a sexy six-foot-plus package. Sienna is that rare heroine who’s going to walk away from him no matter how much he yanks her around, mauls her in alleys and dares her to see other men. I could applaud her for that.
But convenient loss of memory robs her of that autonomy and forces the disgusted reader into yet another trope—the Amnesia Victim. Remembering nothing of their argument (and Emiliano isn’t going to tell her—doctor’s orders), she’s swept into his arms and into a very hasty marriage.
It was at this point that I was disheartened, disillusioned and feeling dyspeptic as well. These two may have a commitment. I think they should be committed.

THIS ONE WASN'T AS INTERESTING AS IT SOUNDED OR SO...THE ONLY GOOD TIDBIT IN HERE WAS PROBABLY THE TEMPORARY AMNESIA THAT PLAYED AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN THIS STORY.
OUR HERO is in a very sticky situation which he has no means to extricate himself from...unless his brother miraculously awakens from his coma. Because of an old agreement between his family and another, he has to take his brother's place in this marriage to a woman he doesn't know, save she was young once upon a time. But, he's already committed to the longest relationship he has ever had yet, to Sienna, the woman who has no equal in his life, whether he is aware of it. When he blunders in not telling her the truth, only to have her find out that he's engaged to another woman, on her birthday night, she is devastated and leaves him with her magnanimous pride intact! Bravo woman! Anyways, we don't see him grovelling just yet, but he is certainly wallowing in misery, having lost what he has taken for granted. During one their tiffs, she escapes him and ends up in an accident where he gets the chance of a lifetime to woo her back, not that's he's aware of this opportunity until the doctor tells them that's she's pregnant. Like the man he is, he weds her and hopes that she won't recover her unpleasant memories just yet. Okay...the hero, did I like him? Well, I won't say he's swoon worthy...but modeled in a very Harlequin version that we all know so well.
OUR HEROINE is in love with the man she has been seeing for quite awhile, and she expects that she's different than the rest of the women he used to date, so she actually hopes for marriage one day with him, until the F-bomb dropped into her world and she leaves him. She was right in the accusation that he never sought to share his decision with her, they aren't really a couple if they can't even compromise. She will not beg for his love, and off she goes. When she was meeting with a man for a job, she is surprised to find Emiliano in the same restaurant. Of course, the daft man had to assume that she has moved on. When their bickering got too heated, she left in haste and met with an accident that renders her memories temporarily on vacation. So, she's forgotten about why she left him, and quit her job but is excited for the baby instead. Yet, there's a plaguing feeling that something wasn't quite right.
OVERALL this was typical Maya Blake written fashion molded into a Harlequin alpha male theme. If you're looking for something DEEPER and satisfactory, then I won't recommend this but if you're a Blake or Harlequin fan, this one will just be another addition to your book list.

This story was interesting from the very beginning to the very end. I loved the storyline and how things came about. Emiliano Castillo was a mysterious man who was estranged from his family. But the moment that he sees a video that his brother left him he knows what he needs to do. Now as for Sienna Newman she is a very smart, beautiful woman that has not told Emiliano everything from her past. She knows that she is in love with Emiliano but before she is able to speak with him things go down south. Emiliano should have been truthful with her from the moment that he went back to London so when she finds out about the apparent engagement she is devastated. When Sienna has an accident and finally wakes up she can't remember the last couple of months of her life. Emiliano is going to take over her care but he also needs to let her know what happened. I understand that it could set back her recovery but she has the right to know what happened and that she had moved out. She had rented her own flat and was going to start a life on her own. But things changed from the moment they received the news. Sienna knows how she feels and she doesn't know if Emiliano wants to marry her because of the news or because he loved her.
The Boss's Nine-Month Negotiation was a good read. I loved the characters and it was a very quick read. I loved the chemistry that Emiliano and Sienna had they burnt up the sheets. Now I'm just wondering if there is going to be a book for Matias, which is Emiliano's brother that had been in coma. I loved the epilogue and how this story ended.

Emiliano's older brother Matias is in coma, after breaking up with his girlfriend and crashing his car.Their parents,Benito and Valentina, own a horse farm. They are in debt to Rodrigo Cabrera, who wants his daughter Graciela to marry one of the Castillo brothers.
At the same time Emiliano's VP for aquisitions/ his lover Sienna learns of his "engagement" and breaks up with him.She meets with a head hunter and Emiliano is jealous.Sienna slips on ice outside the restaurant and hits her head. When she wakes up, it's two weeks after, she has partial amnesia and..she is pregnant.Emiliano is in a dilemma now.
In the story his parents are selfish, try to run Emiliano's life to suit their way of life. They clearly are not loving parents to both their sons ,have no respects for their wishes and accomplishments.Emiliano grew up as the spare son .
Sienna grew up in a children's home, abandoned as a baby by her mother. She has only Emiliano. She is happy about the baby, but he must win her back, before her memory returns.
I liked Graciela .I hope that both she and Matias will get their stories.

I was very taken with this story, I wanted to get back to it as soon as I could when I wasn't able to do any reading! I really enjoyed the plot and how the amnesia turned everything on its head. I felt the pain when the fake engagement was announced and I was dying to know what would happen next (as mentioned above) when I wasn't able to read further due to life interruptions.
Sienna and Emiliano have a emotionally charged story, Emiliano is bound by family duty but needs to decide if family duty or the love of his life is more important. Sienna, having lost her memory, is caught up in a wonderful world but knows there's something not quite right. I love the suspense leading up to the moment of memory returning and the friction it causes.
A wonderful story which I enjoyed very much.

The Boss's Nine-Month Negotiation
This story starts out with the hero arriving back to his apartment after being gone six days, four longer than planned. It was his lover's birthday. But in the midst of the joy she finds out that he has become engaged to someone else. She worked in his company. To say that didn't cause problems was erroneous. She quits and leaves the country for several weeks. They met again while running out at the same restaurant. He man handles her. She trips and when she wakes up two weeks later she doesn't remember him. The rest of the story is just as important as the first part. What will she do when she remembers? And what about the pregnancy and marriage?

This was a decent read. The hero and heroine are already in an established relationship when the book starts. It's obvious that they both care for each other however, the hero's family problems lead to doom for their relationship. I REALLY liked both the hero and heroine. If you like stories with amnesia, surprise pregnancies, interfering families and emotional blackmail you will like this book. This was my first Maya Blake novel and I was pleased. I cannot wait until the hero's older brother Maria's gets his own book. Something tells me that there will be a surprise baby born, while he was in a coma.

I really liked this one, the heroine was just about perfect. I just absolutely loved how she handled being broken up with. I loved what she said to him every time she left him (basically she'll be fine without him and forget about him one day). I liked the hero very much and how it very much showed how much he wanted the heroine. He gave me pause when he thought it was about time he broke up with heroine (in the prologue). Also he handled the situation his parents got him into all wrong but then there wouldn't be a story and I really liked how it all unfolded. I'm confident he didn't sleep with any other women during their two separate separations. P.

It was well written -actually superb writing, but I just didn't like the hero, so couldn't stomach reading him so stopped reading after a while. I thought he was a nasty piece of work who needed a restraining order. Seriously.
ALSO before the story started, they had been LIVING TOGETHER for SIX MONTHS, you'd think by then time the jerk would figure he was in love, or at least cared about the heroine.
However some alpha-male romance fans may love this - read other reviews for balance.

This book starts off well and moves at a good pace. Emiliano is a gorgeous rich, hot blooded sexy Argentinian. He has an affair with one of his employees and Sienna adores him. They both have issues and the romance is rocked to its core when Emiliano returns from Argentina engaged to someone else. This story has unexpected turns and the ending doesn't disappoint. I really liked this book and recommend it. Maya Blake is one of my favorite writers and she did a great job with this story.

I couldn't put this book down. Once started (mistake to do so just before bed) I read through the night in order to finish. There was of course no need for the angst and pain caused to the heroine, if the hero had been more open and communicated; but then there wouldn't have been a story!
