Kiwi Bride #3

The Billionaire's Love

Rate this book
The Billionaire’s Love is a new adult contemporary romance featuring a compassionate alpha male hero and a sweet, gentle heroine with a dark past. They are flawed, funny, passionate, and very relatable for readers who enjoy contemporary romance and women’s fiction with strong family value and character growth.

After the death of her beloved grandmother, Chandra Chandler, known affectionately as Chan, and her two sisters move to Australia to escape their tormented past and build a better life. When a fortune-teller reveals to Chan she will fall in love with a man who is as bright as the sun, she dismisses the very idea as nothing more than hocus pocus. Love, she knows, is beyond her reach. But when the drop-dead gorgeous Sam Harrington and his cute daughter waltz into her life, Chan’s world turns upside down.

Sam draws her to him like a moth to a flame with his good looks, charismatic personality, and kindness. Most of all, his warm gaze and gentle touches tempt her with the promise of hot seduction—a dangerous territory she is very afraid to enter, yet longs to experience. And what about the handsome Jeremy who is courting her? The man who, according to her fortune reading, is destined to be her soul mate? Is her attraction to Sam nothing more than a short, intense blaze? Or is it something more?

After the death of his wife in a freak accident, multibillionaire Sam Harrington is sick of women throwing themselves at his feet simply because they are attracted to his enormous bank account and good looks. When he accidentally bumps into a woman named Chan, he instantly knows she is different. He finds he is powerfully attracted to her, and to his surprise, overwhelmingly wants her. Then he realizes Chan is dating his cousin Jeremy, but he relentlessly courts her none the less, if only to get to know her better and be with her for a stolen moment. When he discovers this strong, beautiful woman is broken inside and in danger of losing herself, he vows to protect and love her unconditionally.

Chan must make the ultimate choice, Sam or Jeremy?

Review

'When the Sun Courts the Moon - Part 1' follows Chandra Chandler, a New Zealander who's has moved to Australia to escape a dark and painful past, and Sam Harrington, the CEO of a hotel chain and the single dad of a seven-year old.

One of the biggest changes I've noticed about Alexia Praks's writing is the vast improvement in her grammar and prose. Her earlier works, which I've read, seemed a lot like drafts and the grammar was significantly less substantial compared to her more later works, such as this novel. The writing flows with greater elegance and meaning which allowed for a more clearer view of the author's style. There were only a couple of times where I've had to reread a sentence once or twice in order to better understand what I author was trying to convey. However, certain turns of phrasing and sentences sounded as if they needed reworking and they didn't make sense to use in a certain context and you wouldn't normally see them in romance novels.

There was significantly less telling rather than showing and I very much admired that.

The story was very much fairy-tale like and in that it has both advantages...and clear disadvantages. The advantages of such a story is its depth of romanticism. Sometimes the story was borderline unbelievable like many fairy-tales. It was enjoyable in most circumstances as it allowed for the most hilarious and sometimes absurdly romantic events to occur. Other times, I really disliked it as it went above and beyond believable for exactly the same reasons.

I felt like the plot could have been worked on a little more as the majority of the novel seemed more like an introduction to the events that would happen in part 2. It stretched on for a very long time and I sometimes wondered why all these events happened when the author could have written less with more UMPH to it.

I felt that the characters were vaguely superficial and could have had more depth to them. There were all these facts about them but I didn't entirely feel that they had HISTORY or BACKGROUND. I just couldn't entirely connect or understand any of the characters.

The novel was entirely too short. I also wondered why the author stressed the pronunciation of Chandra as JUNDRA so often. This could have been revealed in a more subtle and graceful manoeuvre.

I didn't enjoy the many love triangles that went on as well as the multiple hints at the potential romantic couplings of all the rest of the female supporting characters. It was as if it was a "let's-marry-everyone-off" novel. The two love-triangles were between Sam-Chan-Nina and Chan-Sam-Jeremy. Honestly, there was so much romantic potentiality in this novel that the roof could have exploded with chemistry.

Congratulations to Alexia Praks on publishing the latest instalment in the 'Kiwi Bride' series!

×× spoilers included in the review! ××

Alexia Praks' When The Sun Courts The Moon is a sweet love story of Sam Harrington and Chandra Chandler. This book definitely falls somewhere between YA and NA, since all the romance is quite toned-down and subtle.

I remember reading and enjoying Alexia Praks' books years ago on Wattpad and this book was free & has been in my library for couple of months so I did not hesitate to dive in.

I'm sorry but Sam's six-year old daughter, Lilly totally stole the show for me here. Other than romance, the book focused on friendship. But, I did not like the fact that this book isn't a standalone.
There wasn't that much of a plot that it needed a sequel. It could've easily been resolved and rounded up in this book itself. I also did not like the fact that Chan kept leading Jeremy on when it was glaringly obvious to us, as well as to her, that she belonged with Sam.

Plus, Sam and her haven't even spoken about starting a relationship and if we're speaking reasonably, it wasn't justified enough for her to get angry at Sam even if he willingly kissed Nina. Which he didn't, in case you're wondering. Chan herself has kissed Jeremy during their date. But maybe at that point, Chan thought that things were finally going somewhere? I donno...*shrugs

I'm mad that she still hadn't ended things with Jeremy.

It took me some time to process what did I read. I mean this book was available for free and I dived right into it. But girl! What a trap it was.

I had stopped writing reviews a year ago. But I have to write this one, since this book doesn't have enough reviews. The one star here is only because of the flow. Other than that everything is problematic.

The main protagonist hits on a girl knowing she is seeing his cousin. The girl, even after discovering she has feelings for someone else( the protagonist) , leads on his cousin. To make matters worse , she gives a lot of explanations like she doesn't know anything about dating and all. Girl! This is not about dating, this about morals.

And the it doesn't over here, it felt like the girl is so immature , sometimes it's frustrating. But the most problematic scene here is the climax. Without any spoilers, I would just say, that scene is borderline rape.

I don't know why I torture myself with these free books. May be I'm a greedy person😪

What a truly beautiful romantic book with so many sigh-worthy movement and so many humorous movement.

Chan was such an interesting character and I wanted to know more about her, although she didn't seem say much. But what she did and didn't say sparked curiosity about her. Sam is one of the sexiest heroes in billionaire's series. He is crazy about Chan and can't seem to keep his hands off of her. He sees to her every need of her. I like how protective, possessive, and caring he was with Chan.

Sam and Chan love story was a beautiful one. It's one of those stories that sticks with you long after you have finished the book. There was such a strong connection between them. Watching them both slowing lower their walls, and start to love and respect each other.

Waiting for next instalment The Billionaire's Love Part 2.

Enjoyed

I enjoyed the book but was a little off my game when I found out that book 2was $5 I don't understand how author's have to charge so much for each book.I know author's have to make money for their work and I understand that but as a reader I have to save money. If you give a book for free and charge 5.00 for each book in the series that's kinda wrong. If you have more than one book in a series why not just charge one price. When you get a book for free and don't know it's a cliffhanger and find out you 3 or4 more books to buy it gets into the money. Not everyone had KU.As a reader I try to get books that are SAL so I don't have to keep buying books to finish a story. The way things are going author's might not be selling to many books if the prices keep going up.

Warning, foul language

The story and characters were good,so I stuck it out till maybe halfway through. Then what I had hoped would be a very occasional swear ( f bombs, shit, and taking the Lords name in vain) became more as in too much for me. I realize a great many people consider this normal language, however,I am not one of them and know I am not alone there. I don't speak that way, don't like to hear it, and do not see the sense in subjecting myself to it when I am reading for pleasure. There are enough books out there to choose from. If this does not bother you ,you might really enjoy th.is book

This book was very well written and it grabbed my attention straight away! The characters were believable and realistic! It was a very sweet book and not only do I look forward to reading the rest of Sam and Chan's story, I look forward to reading the other stories of their friends and sisters falling in love!! I would highly recommend this book if you are looking for a sweet, clean and very well written book!

2.5 stars. I was really enjoying this book, but as I was appreciating the slow burn romance all of a sudden they realize they’ve been in love since they met. Then the book seemed to end all too soon. Chandra’s internal conflict wasn’t dealt with, we don’t know what happens with Jeremy, and now we’re left on a cliffhanger about Dave? This ending could have been so much better. Didn’t even get an epilogue about them being a happy family🥺

A satisfied smile

What a lovely story. Great detail and imagination. Love the characters and culture added to the Chandler sisters back story. Such passion and endearing love. Comical points that make you laugh out loud. Love the searing heat reaving up between Chan and Sam. I cannot wait until I read the next book. I definitely recommend this book. A huge thumbs up.

The Billionaire 's Love(Billionaires Brides Book 1)

I enjoyed reading this book because there was a lot of romance, twists and miss understanding and just when you think you are getting to the very good part is when you find out you have to wait for the next book to come out . That is the only thing I didn't like about the book .

This is it!

Now, this is where it all began! The love story of Sam & Chan has only begun, but it is not without its challenges! Among many choices there is Dave Moore - who is out to get his “pound of flesh” from Chan. Who knows what Nina has in store for the two? The stage is set. Let the games begin!

I am happy that I got this book for free and I ha e read it and the plot is simple yet well-structured and the characters like Chandra, Dara, Soriya, Sam, Lilly and more bring out each of their respective auras in this story plus the story ends in continuation, much like a cliffhanger so I need to read the next book in this series......

Review

‘When the Sun courts the Moon: First Date’ starts off really interestingly, with Chan being read a fortune by her Grandmother Lin's best friend, Grandmother Su. Grandmother Su tells Chan about her love life and how she will meet a man who shines as brightly as the sun...and he will be her soulmate. This really made me curious as to how the novella would progress with this fortune read and hovering above the story. Now, let’s just all step back and admire the cover. Isn't it beautiful? *sighs deeply*
What I later disapproved of was when Chan says: "It was just too toxic. Relationships were toxic. Love was toxic. And sex? Yes, that was toxic, too." What does that mean? I believe the author could have phrased it a bit differently and still gotten the same message across, which was: Chan believes that love will only lead to sadness and hurt and that they can damage a person. I slightly disapproved of the way the author wrote it as it made both Chan seem like a prude and a character whom the readers may be forces to hate instead of love.
Chan's story is also a very sad and tragic one: this I realised later into the novella. It really explains why Chan's thoughts are so negative about love, relationships and sex. I felt this HUMUNGOUS rush of sympathy when I found out. If you'd like to know why, then read this novella.
Alexia Praks also did something sneaky; it should be called the secret weapon in a writers’ arsenal. Alexia Praks snuck in a child! Cue the "Awww"s! Sam Harrington's daughter, Lily, is very cute and absolutely adorable! I can't wait to read more about her!
The author could work on her grammar and phrasing a bit but I really like her writing style. It's sweet and poignant - it's what made me review for her in the first place. I saw no spelling mistakes or typos which was great for a self-published novel!
There were many times when I laughed out loud at the antics and silly acts of some of the characters. I loved the warmth that the 'good' ones shared and how easily it was to hate the 'evil' ones. This novella seemed like a fairytale…
I also loved the sistership that Chan and her younger sisters, Dara and Soriya, shared. It seemed really genuine and authentic. The way they acted around each other and the way try spoke in their teasing ways reminded me a lot of myself.
The ending was sweet and left a lingering mystery in its conclusion. I'm really looking forward to reading the full novel. This was an exciting sneak peak into 'When the Sun courts the Moon'! Congratulations to Alexia Praks! A four star!!

I love all the books of Kiwi Bride series. I have been waiting for this book to be published. I really like all the books written by her. They are simply "awesome".

The story is about Chan, her sisters, Sam Harrington, his daughter Lily & Jeremy White. Grandmother Su predicts Chan's future and tells her how she will meet a man who shines as brightly as the sun and he will be her soulmate. So who is her soulmate, Sam Harrington or Jeremy White?

I love the sister-ship that Chan and her sisters share and the innocence of adorable Lily and not to forget the blossoming romance of Chan and Sam. I loved the connection and warmth everyone shared.
There are several parts in the book where I laughed out loud for their silly acts.

The book as well as all the other Kiwi Bride Series are worth reading. It ends with a mystery and I am really looking forward to reading Part 2 of this novella.

This is my favorite book out of the 3 Kiwi Bride series. I have been waiting in anticipate for this book to be published. This is a story of Chan Chandler who is trying to forget her past and move forward with her life and find love along the way. Will it be with Sam Harrington or Jeremy White? Read to find out. All the while, the threat from her past still haunts her and is catching up to her.

The characters are charming and likable especially the Chandler sisters and Lily, Sam Harrington's daughter. There were many times when I laughed out loud at the antics of the characters. I loved the warmth that they shared.

I've read several books from this author and I really like her writing style. It's sweet and poignant.
The ending was sweet and left a lingering mystery for "When the Sun courts the Moon Part 2." I am really looking forward to reading Part 2 of this novella.
