Having read both Boy and Going Solo long ago, I had a fair recollection of Roald Dahl's life, but in his words. However his Life in Stories stitches the elements of these autobiographies together, fills in the gaps and presents a dazzling kaleidoscope of his personality and achievements, positive and negative in either case. Sure, you'll find it in the junior section of your library, but that doesn't diminish its impact in any way.

Really interesting and fun read, made extremely accessible through different ways of displaying the stories of his life.

I usually don’t write a book review but now I must admit I loved this book!
It’s such a great biography of Roald Dahl’s briefly and well presented. It is easy to read, understandable language, fantastic drawings, pictures help your imagination even greater. It’s fantastic how it introduced all his writings, providing concise summary of each title.
5 out of 5 stars from me :-)

Light reading. Good but the autobiography from Roald Dahl himself was much better.

It's not always that someone picks a thought to write a book on another author... Andrew Donkin has done a great job and the book definitely provides an insight into Roald Dahl's personal life... The book is also picturesque and provides a light read...

Overall after a long time, this book made me smile and also ponder on the surprises that life throws...

Read with my 7 and 6 yo daughters. We loved learning about one of our favourite authors and the inspirations behind some of his most famous stories!
