The Search for American Political Development

Rate this book
American political development (APD) has claimed in recent years the attention of a growing band of political scientists, and scholars have begun to speak of "APD" as a subfield within the discipline. This book provides a justification for studying politics historically, not only for what it reveals about the roots of political affairs at the present time but what it teaches about politics as an ongoing activity. Placing the character of political institutions at the center of analysis, the authors survey past and current scholarship and outline a course of study for the future.

An accessible book about political development in the US. It also explained "new institutionalism" in a succinct and persuasive way. As I read this book I immediately began thinking of ways I could apply the frameworks and concepts discussed in the book to any future research I do. Great and informative read for anyone!
