I really enjoyed this book - it's solidly, if not brilliantly, written, and the plot and characters are intriguing enough that I powered through the book pretty quickly. Delia is an intriguing heroine, living near her Ute and Navajo relatives and making a living running llama tours in the mountains for rich city lesbians (niche). She has a complicated backstory that makes it hard for her to trust, though her romance with Chicago stockbroker Beth seems to move pretty quickly all the same. The women's experience trekking on Ute Mountain in search of Beth's missing friend brings them closer as they Like I say, it was a good read, though not particularly challenging - pretty fun, with an engaging cast of supporting characters (and animals)!
Interesting story premise...BUT...REALLY BADLY WRITTEN. In my opinion, the book editor (if there was a book editor) should have kept returning the draft to the author for re-doing/correcting, UNTIL the book was 'up to standard'. The fact that this book managed to get printed 'as is' is a sad shame. Too bad. (both cover art pictures are awesome...makes me wonder if the artist knew what quality of book the artistic work was attached to... ) (fyi:what writing style/competencies do I like?...folks like Dick Francis, Kate Wilhelm, Robert A. Heinlein and ilk...folks that have learned their authoring craft very well, and had good competent editors)
