In a time long ago, a Nephilim princess longed for something ‘more’. As the daughter of King Emmen, Aresia hated the constant pain and suffering that she saw all around her. A constant reminder of the torture and pain inflicted by the hands of her father. King Emmen thrived on war and sorrow. Making the lives of those around him full of misery.
Desperate to see some relieve from the pain and suffering, Aresia and her servant Irkalla would travel outside the walls of the kingdom to explore the village around the walls of the palace. Each trip would be carried out in disguise so that no one would know Aresia’s true identity. There were many that hated her father, and that hatred brought on unwanted attention. These excursions were a brief escape from the horrors that existed within the confines of Aresia’s home.
During one of Aresia’s trips to the village, she came upon a human that she couldn’t seem to draw her gaze away from. His looks captivated the Nephilim princess, regardless of the hatred that her father harbored for humans. The intensity of that meeting with Japheth would stay with Aresia long after that fateful night. Driving the princess to take extreme risks to see the human that haunts her thoughts each and every moment they aren’t together.
As fate would have it, Aresia’s father would discover their romance. Japheth was to be shown no mercy at the hands of the Nephilim King. Aresia knew the fate that her father would delve upon this human that captured her heart. With his life at stake, Aresia offered her father an exchange that would forever alter the life of Japheth and herself. A journey that was filled with torture, sorrow, and a heartache that they would never forget. Their love would fuel them to find their way toward each other again.
Fate is not always kind, and Japheth turned back to his family for solace from the harm that they faced. Aresia quickly discovered the reason that Japheth turned his back on Noah and his adoration to God. The building of the ARK was underway, and the fate of all humanity was heard through Noah’s ears. As the couple spent their days helping to build the ARK, Aresia and Japheth questioned their place in the world. Their time was quickly running out, and the moment the ARK would be afloat would change the course of the world. The only question was how would their love for one another end with the coming of the floods?
Wow…..I mean seriously!!! When the Wilders announced the release of ARK, I knew that it would be unlike anything we had read from the authors before. Knowing this fantasy novel was inspired by the creation of the ARK in biblical times, yet would be a venture into the world of fiction and fantasy, I knew I had to read this creation.
Let me start by saying….I stayed up all night until I finished this book. What an amazing world that exists between the covers. Each character adding another dimension to the details, plot, and creativity that lies within this unique romance. The complexity that was used to bring such vivid detail to a story we all know, it turned completely on its head with this alter creation from the couple.
Seriously - I hate to delve into too much detail. I feel like if I do, it will spoil a part of the journey for you. There are moments of suffering and pain that will haunt you as you uncover it. Then there are the moments in which you realize the love of a forbidden romance is a force to be reckoned with. A love that leads you to fight against the odds. It is beautiful and thought provoking.
The Wilders certainly took a topic as old as time, and put the most amazing spin on it!! There is certainly more to this tale that needs to be written, and I hope that another book is in the works. ARK is truly a work of ingenuity that you must read!!

I received an an advanced copy of this work for an honest review. Jack and Jasinda Wilder, writing as J.J. Wilder, have created an amazing, visualizing descriptive fantasy world, based on the story of Noah's Ark in the Biblical Book of Genesis. Ark tells the story of the son of Noah, Japheth and a Nephilim princess, their romance and their suspenseful, terrifying adventures, all leading to the Great Flood. Do they have an HEA? Read this wonderful adult fantasy to find out.

I've read books written by the dynamic duo Jasinda and Jack Wilder before - and I've truly loved them. I knew that going into this story blind and only after reading the blurb it will either be a hit or miss kind of book for me. Unfortunately it was the latter. It's not because of the writing style - it was as good as always. It was more about the storyline and the characters. I know that this is a fantasy novel and that the happenings in this book have been loosely inspired by the Great Flood and Noah's ark. There are Nephilim and humans who are living in a complicated coexistance full of hatred and violence. There was so much tragedy and suffering in this book again and again it made me sick and depressive. I kept hoping that things are going to get easier and better for Japheth and Aresia but they unfortunately didn't. What I disliked was that after everything they both went through in the name of love it didn't bring them closer to each other but made them lose their special connection and drift apart. I was confused and angry about it. That's the reason why I wasn't able to connect with the characters. I finished reading this story with a frown on my face and feeling let down because many questions still remained unanswered. If there is going to be a second book I will most probably not read it.

Oh my. Not matter what you believe about religion or history, by the time you read this book, you will feel as if you have lived through our past.
Read this and get that inside story that no one has told before.
This novel reads like a first person story from ancient times, and you wont want to put it down. From the minute I started it I was engulfed in the detail oriented world that J.J Wilder has woven around this book. From he character's nothing, to the homes they live in, nothing is missed.
This is a love story.
This is also a story of hate and hurt.
It is a story of betrayal and the viciousness of people.
But in the end, even if you don't know what is to come, the love it what started it all.
I swooned and I cringed enough times while reading this that by the end of it I didn't know what I was feeling. All I knew was that with that ending I wanted more. I wanted to see what came next.
This book is full of things that will spoil it, so I don't want to do that. I want you to take a chance like I did and dive into this book. A setting is just a setting, and this one was perfection for Ark. It was a story that I didn't know I needed to be told.

Even more than a week after finishing Ark, I cannot accurately put into words how much I loved this book. When I first heard about Ark on one hand I was intrigued because it was something that sounded very unique. On the other hand I was nervous I wasn’t going to enjoy it because I am not a religious person. I was VERY glad the author/s added a note at the start explaining where the idea/love for the story started and that while it may be set in biblical times that it is not a religious book. It’s even hard to classify the genre IMO. One second you think it’s a love story, then a war story, then an end of the world story and I enjoyed every last second of it.

Nephilim Princess Aresia always felt like a prisoner in the palace. Her father is a sadistic king, and her brothers are no better. The only solace Aresia can find is sneaking out to the human village. Because, while her father despises humans, they fascinate her.
During one of those escapades Aresia meets Japheth, son of Noah (yeah, that Noah) in one of the taverns. He is arrogant, cocky and handsome. Plus there is an extreme attraction between the two. But if the King find out about the affair he will torture Japheth in the worst way possible.
And, as you can guess, they are discovered.
Aresia takes desperate measures, bargaining the only way she can for Japheth's life - with her own.
“I knew what I would endure for the sake of loving Japheth.
I knew, and I wept.”
They both had to go through Hell, suffer in the worst way imaginable to be together. But then life just keeps throwing challenges their way.
And what Noah, Japheth's father, reviled to them might just be the thing that will break them.
I read the whole story with a heavy heart. All the tests Aresia and Japheth had to pass and all the crosses to bear, it was horrible and it never stopped. There always has to be some good to counter the bad in a story. But the tragedy just kept coming.
The plot itself was intriguing, though the story was slow paced. The writing was okey, I guess.
The story was heavy, but I still liked it.

This is a love story for all love stories, where the fine line of fact and fiction mix and mingle. I was taken back and intrigued by Japheth and Aresia story. This is a deep, damaged and compelling love story, not a juicy read but I felt connected and emotional for the characters all the same. I have many questions! I hope there is more to come. I also want to know more of Noah's journey after the floods came. Yes I have many questions

Not really sure what to make of this book. Definitely didn't turn out how I thought. I do like the fantasy aspect of it with the characters not being all human. Interesting story line. Just couldn't quite get into the story. Never felt any connection. It is written well just not my type of book.

Fantastic!
I wasn't sure what to expect from this story taking in the cover and the name but I love the descriptive way Jasinda and Jack write so I knew I had to try it. I was lucky enough to receive an arc of this but I enjoyed it so much I purchased it. If you love the story telling talent of these two trust me when I say this is a absolute read, if you've never read anything they've written your in for a treat! I truly enjoyed this story....

It took me a long time to get into the flow of the book, the context a little out of my comfort zone. I am not a person of religion but found myself fascinated by this tale, the story of the ark and Noah being within the background to beautiful love story still relevant in today's society. Two people from different backgrounds and religions, finding love and making huge sacrifices that will change them forever.
Some of the language used was difficult to understand ( thank god for kindles and the built in dictionary) and as previously mentioned it took me a while to find the flow of the story. However once I got past that the story picked up and I truly enjoyed the story as it unfolded.
This is a completely new genre for myself as well as the authors but they have have written it in such a way that you would never know that this was a different style of story for them.
The story has left me wanting more, I hope that we may get more to this story.
