The realm of Andomhaim has been reunited, with a true High King ruling in Tarlion once more. But it is far too late. The host of the Frostborn marches to war, bringing terror and death in their wake, and a weakened Andomhaim is not strong enough to defeat them. Only the sword of the Dragon Knight has the power to drive back the Frostborn, and it is calling to Ridmark Arban. But the sword devours anyone bold enough to wield it...
Standing over six feet tall, USA Today bestselling author Jonathan Moeller has the piercing blue eyes of a Conan of Cimmeria, the bronze-colored hair of a Visigothic warrior-king, and the stern visage of a captain of men, none of which are useful in his career as a computer repairman, alas.
He has written the DEMONSOULED series of sword-and-sorcery novels, and continues to write THE GHOSTS sequence about assassin and spy Caina Amalas, the COMPUTER BEGINNER'S GUIDE series of computer books, and numerous other works. His books have sold over one million copies worldwide.
As a fervent reader of the Frostborn series, I can say Jonathan Moeller has outdone himself with this one. The stakes have never been higher, and I chewed through it in a day. If you've been following Ridmark's adventure, this is one you won't be able to put down until the end.
If you're a fan of this series, you NEED this book! The usual pace for these stories is what many readers would consider slow. There's been one ultimate goal since the series began long ago; however, our heroes have taken baby steps and side paths in many of the books. Some readers have been frustrated by that. Personally, I've enjoyed the meandering trails which have led us here. It's a great series, and I don't want it to end.
If you're one of those frustrated fans, this installment will make you very happy! Events are now unfolding incredibly quickly for Ridmark and company. Prepare yourself for an abundance of action and several twists so unexpected they will leave you stunned. A week after reading it, I'm still shocked Mr. Moeller fit so many major events into one book. The Dragon Knight is so amazing I finished it in one sitting, too excited to pause for sleep!
The writing itself is also infinitely better than we've seen thus far in the series. There are far fewer grammatical errors, typos, missing/extra words, and other mistakes. Without mistakes interrupting the flow, we can truly lose ourselves in another world for a few hours, enjoying a respite from reality.
Mr. Moeller, I am sincerely grateful to you for being such a prolific author. Each book in each series you have created is like an escape pod from the real world.
For those who have followed this series, this installment held few surprises, but it's still an enjoyable read, despite the typos. It does get repetitive, and many of the fight scenes are predictable though necessary in the story arc. I found Ridmark's inner struggle both annoying and interesting; as a reader, you want to slap him upside the head and point out his foolishness, but knowing the source of his weakness and how the magic tests him, it's also understandable that he can't see the truth without help.
4.5 stars for sure. As I read each book I want to get to the next even faster. Contains Spoilers. Contains Spoilers.
The sword of the dragon knight must be found. Hopefully Ridmark will be the one to wield it. The action is great as always.Man the desperation just oozes from the pages slowly tormenting us. All anyone can do is there best and this includes Ridmark who hopes to become the Dragon night even though it may cost him dearly. The War begins in earnest. Dread and fear for our heros constantly gnaws at you as this book races to a conclusion
I pick up the omnibus addition with first 3 novels plus a prequel to read while on a world cruise It hooked me from the beginning and has gone from strength to strength. I purchased the following books quickly and have devoured them really looking forward to the final installment Would definitely recommend this series
Finally, this series is getting to the serious end of the matters and is all the better for it. The action picked up quickly, I found the switching between time streams just kept the tension incredibly high and made it next to impossible to put this book down. The climax was drawn out, and incredibly delicious. I loved the resolution, and I can not wait to finish this series.
At last we have the answer to 'Burn with me' although you already knew this before you started the book. I love the characters and fight scenes but what puts me off is the unnecessary page fulling words / thoughts / reminiscence / fears that are in every chapter. This must account for 50% of the book and is annoying. Still a fun read.
After reading the saga of the Frostborn, this far, I consider his skill in weaving a tail second to none. His hero's epic journey is drawing to a close. All of the previous books built to this crescendo. Wonderful reading.
Well written with well developed characters, that manage to keep you involved in the story line and rooting for your favorite characters. You can almost feel the adrenaline in some of the fights, and the frustration that all of the characters feel at one point or another. Highly recommend.
Another great book in this great series! On to number 15. The last book, should be interesting For all fantasy readers this is a seriously terrific series you should not miss!
The book was gripping to read and the battles both inside the minds and out were interesting and led to as rewarding end. Also that ending was just so satisfying for their relationship.
After Ridmark proposed to The Keeper Calliande. They went and checked out the tower of the keeper and end up going through a portal which takes them to another part of the realm. Where Calliande remembers the rest of her missing memories about what and where the Dragon knight is. Turns out it is a powerful artifact, a sword; that the wielder must master or it will kill them. But one that could turn the war of the Frostborn. Ridmark is willing to take that chance but is he willing to possibly pay the ultimate price which could be his life? Once again Moeller continues to show what an excellent world and character builder he is even after 14 books.
