A spin off novella from the Songbird Novel - True Love....
Flick was used to women swooning at his feet—have a little fun, a little sex and they can be on their way.
He wasn’t used to hanging out with an intelligent, opinionated feminist who had a major chip on her shoulder. Felicity “Fliss” Chapman was going to be his biggest buzz kill on the summer tour. He could either go out of his way to avoid her (pretty hard when they’d be sharing a bus) or he could try to pull the stick out of her ass and show her what a good time looked like.
Fliss never wanted to go on the Chaos summer tour, but after being publicly dumped and humiliated by her college sweetheart, she was ready to get out of town for a while.
But she didn’t count on Flick being such an ass (like all men except her father and brothers). She’s determined not to let his sexy little smirk get under her skin. All guys do is burn her and walk away from the ashes. She won’t let herself become another victim of the cocky musician.
Too bad neither of them know that sometimes love can take down even the most resistant souls. As these two go into battle, they unwittingly start to break down each other’s barriers, stirring a whole new pot of complications neither are ready for.

"I often leave these parties early." "Yeah. And you always have a girl attached to your arm when you do." "So, where is she?" "You just don't let up, do you?" "I'm just trying to-" "Figure it out! Yeah, I know!" "Wow. Could you not find a girl tonight? Is that why you're so pissy right now?" "I don't have a girl with me tonight because the only girl I want right now is you.' I crushed my lips to hers before she had a chance to respond.
Melissa's stories are slowly getting under my skin. I loved this enchanting story.
This is a story set around a rock band. Flick is attracted to Fliss but he's a man-whore and she's his manager's little sister....as in don't touch. They are thrown together a lot on the bus as they tour from city to city. I don't know whether I wanted them to get together or not. Sex was just a sport for him, would he hurt her or fall hard. It was a fast, easy to read romance and I was entertained and enjoyed it.
A nice romance of two strong willed characters, that try to bring each other down. Life has a funny way of happening and it's a fun read to see what happens to these two. Fantastic author

A well written novella set in the world of a rock band on summer tour. Flick is the hot lead singer/musician of the band Chaos. He's with a different woman after every show and even a great rehearsal. He uses sex as a rush to go along with the music. No feelings involved. Fliss is the younger sister of the band's manager. She joins the summer tour to avoid the heartbreak of being humiliatingly dumped by the guy she thought was "the one".
Flick is attracted to Fliss even though he knows he should stay away from her innocence. He wants to see her happy and free. Fliss is attracted to him, because even with his man-whore ways, his intelligence and talent shine through.
It doesn't take long before they give in to their attraction, but with Fliss in college and Chaos beginning a world tour, can this be more than a fling?
Complicated is a fairly formulaic story, but the writing is good. The characters are well developed and the relationship feels natural. I was not able to enjoy it as much as I wanted to because of Flick. I couldn't get past his attitude towards sex. Way too casual for me to consider him HEA material for any worthy girl. Some things can't be unseen and a stranger riding him in the tour bus and knowing she is one of hundreds is too much for me. He was super sweet after becoming the boyfriend, but I am not capable of forgetting and easily giving trust. Still if you like the idea of reforming the rock star into Prince Charming, this is an entertaining quick read.
This sweet little novella is the perfect mix of all the things I love about Melissa Pearl‘s books, especially her songbird novels.
Loveable characters Steady paced storyline Addictive writing style Funny banter FEELS and wonderful music woven within
The title says it all, Fliss and Flick‘s story doesn‘t start easy but watching them open up and facing their fears was heartwarming and oh so sweet ♡
Dangerous or not, Fliss was a highly addictive part of the tour. An addiction I couldn‘t resist.
I thought the tour would be a great distraction. But i hadn‘t considered the Flick-factor.
„You scared?“ „Shitless.“ „You want to try anyway?“ „I don‘t think I have a choice.“

Can‘t wait for „Rather be“ even if it‘s the last songbird novel and I never want this series to end...
At first, the story between Fliss and Flick was so typical! It gives off a massive amount of vibe between a bad boy and the girl who doesn't want the attention but gets it anyway. Do you think that this is a negative review? Keep on reading to find out.
Of course, Melissa Pearl being the genius that she is manages to pull me into the story when things between those two begun to ignite. And also when Flick stopped being a jerk and slowly peels away his baggages that he carries.
Truth be told, the latter part of the story saves the story for me. It slowly makes me fall in love with the characters and why they act the way they do. I couldn't ask for a better story, actually. Melissa Pearl seriously never disappoints. I know that I've said these words so many times but it just never feels enough.
It's amazing how Miss Pearl can pack all the things you want into a novella and it has the same impact on you as her full length books. I loved getting to watch Flick and Fliss fall in love. I also love how she gives these to her readers when she doesn't have to. So thank you Miss Pearl!
I thought Flick and Fliss's story was the perfect rockstar finding love novella. She had a painful break up. Flick only believed in one night stands. When they start spending time together perhaps things will change? I enjoyed finding out.
Loved this one. Although I'm usually not a fan of manwhore's, I liked Flick. Maybe because the author did a good job ofs showing he isn't a bad guy. Completely committed to his music and friends, intelligent, but also honest about the fact he doesn't want a relationship and there are plenty of girls out there that didn't care about that. All they wanted was to make it with a rockstar and he was happy to oblige. If it worked for him, he saw no reason to change that and he wasn't the kind of guy that scoffed at relationships since he was surrounded by friends who were happy to be in one.
Fliss was one of those characters that could have been annoying. She jumped to a lot of conclusions about Flick, but the reason she worked for me was because she was right in some case and wrong in others and she owned up to that fairly quickly. Thankfully this was a novella because I don't think I could have stood her being pissy throughout a full length novel.
All in all, they fit and watching them come to that conclusion was sweet.
I love the banter that goes on between Flick and Fliss it really brings the characters and story to life. Flick is only into one night stands after a bad experience in high school, where as Fliss believe sex and love are linked despite having her heart broken by her boyfriend who dumped her after she gave him her virginity. Their options of each other change as they learn more about each other. Could they end up being a perfect match
A wonderful novella that fleshes out the romance of two minor characters in the Songbirds series. Excellent writing and a poignant love story, as per usual from Melissa Pearl.
Story Line: 4 stars out of 5. I really enjoyed this story. My main problem with it was main female lead. She really pissed me off, to be honest. I didn't like her spicy attitude as much as I liked Nessa's. She got under my skin. I will talk more about her in the character section. I loved the main male lead. He's actually my favorite Chaos member.
Felicity or Fliss for short is going on tour with Chaos. She is their band manager's little sister. At first, she didn't like Flick. He was a playboy rock star. They were always bickering with each other. They always had some kind of banter going on between them. Some of the banter was actually really funny. It made me laugh a little bit.
Flick is more complex than he appears to be. He didn't want to be tied down. He wanted to mainly focus on the music. He wanted to have fun. He is a very talented musician. He even wrote the lyrics for the band. Fliss heard him play piano. He was really good at it.
Felicity was also getting over her heart being broken by her ex boyfriend. She didn't want to be attracted to Flick. She didn't want to deal with men because of what her ex did to her. I understand her reasoning, but she didn't have to act the way she did throughout the book. Her reactions are what actually caused me to rate this lower.
I usually don't have high expectations with books I read, but this one I think I did. I did because Flick is one of my favorite character's in the series. I am glad that he ended up finding the perfect girl for him. Although, Felicity, honestly didn't deserve him.
Characters: 4 stars out of 5. I will only talk about the main two characters.
Flick- I loved his creativity. I also loved his passion for music. His personality. I loved everything about the guy. I love how complex he was. I loved how in tune he was to Felicity, although, as I said before, she didn't deserve Flick. Flick is honestly really humorous too. I loved him so much. I wish I got to see more of him in his story, but this was just a novella. I did get to discover how cool he was in the other Songbird novels. All of their stories connected in some way shape or form.
Felicity- She was annoying. I really couldn't stand her. The only thing I liked about her is that she loved to read. I know that she was dealing with heartbreak throughout the story, but that didn't give her a right to treat Flick like crap. That's really what pissed more off about her. She could have been a better character if he attitude didn't suck from the beginning of the story.
Favorite Quote: "Love is scary, man. The risks are high, and trusting someone can be intimidating. But if you can find the courage to embrace all that, it's f**kin' awesome."
Writing Style: 5 stars out of 5.

Complicated: Chaos novella is a great read. This book features Fliss and Flick's story. This quick read is packed with simmering attraction and deep emotions. An entertaining an enjoyable read that I highly recommend. I'm voluntarily posting a review after reading an ARC copy of this book.
I love that Flick was complex and that everything didn't always go smoothly with Fliss. The banter between them kept me entertained. Complicated is my favorite Chaos Novella!
(Felicity "Fliss" and Flick): "I often leave these parties early." "Yeah.
Love enhanced, empowered...made everything better. The way that Eugene sped to the tower to rescue Rapunzel. "You were my new dream." I bawled like a baby, clutching a pillow to my chest and hating myself for being so pathetic. I don't need a boyfriend, I was fine on my own! But I wanted one. And not just anyone. I wanted Flick. I wanted him to love me and call me his girl. But that was never gonna happen.
"You just told my brother you love me." "I only speak the truth. I wasn't just saying that so he wouldn't kill me." "You love me." "I do. I never wanted to love a girl. I didn't want the pressure of letting someone down or being locked into something. But you're different. I think about you all the time. I want to be with you. I...I..." "Never knew what love was." "Until you loved me." The song danced through my mind, the perfect soundtrack to our moment.. "I know you're scared shitless that you're not cut out for this. But I think you'll make a great boyfriend, and you know I'll kick your ass if you fuck up too many times. I get that being a relationship is a huge shift for you, but I'll try to be enough, I promise. I'll try to never give you a reason to regret this." "Don't talk shit. You are enough. And I don't want you to be anything but yourself, because that's what I fell in love with. You, just the way you are." "But what if you find something about me that you don't like?" "Sweetness, I think I should be more worried about that than you." "Mr. Complex." "At least you know I'm honest." "Yeah. With you, it totally is." He was leaving me. But he'd be back. I didn't have to worry about a damn thing. My boyfriend may be complicated, but he simply loved me.
Another brilliant novella deving back into the Chaos world. This rockstar romance centres around Felicity 'Fliss' who has boarded the tour bus with her brother and band manager Marcus as Chaos completes their US tour. Along the way, while trying to secretly hide her heartbreak over an unworthy ex, she can't help figthing her feelings for bandmember Flick. He is complex, arrogant, a manwhore and honest to a fault.
Fliss and Flick fight their attraction until their sexual chemistry literally explodes and they can no longer keep their simmering attraction under wraps. There were a few pivotal emotional scenes that left me unable to not shed a tear, and I loved their banter even when they were not friendly was still raw and honest. Another fantastic read.
