As the presumed heir to Lost Vegas, Arthur has purposely ignored the depravity with which his father runs the city with the excuse he will change things once he is in charge. Traveling with his longtime rival, Marshall Cruise, at first reinforces the prejudices Arthur has adopted from his father. However, Marshall has saved his life twice, and Arthur can no longer deny what is in front of him. He wants to make a positive difference in a city cowering in the shadow of Arthur’s father.
The more time Arthur spends with his rival, the more he begins to question his loyalty to the person who burned Marshall’s family at the stake. With his loyalties in question, Arthur struggles to balance protecting those he cares about and surviving long enough to save his city, a challenge that grows harder when the Natives around Lost Vegas begin to ally with one another.
War is looming – but the visions Arthur has of the future show him a worse fate is possible. Arthur must act fast, if he is to save his city, his sister, and his friends.
I breathe stories. I dream them. If it were possible, I'd eat them, too. (I'm pretty sure they'd taste like cotton candy.) I can't escape them - they're everywhere! Which is why I write! I was born to bring the crazy worlds and people in my mind to life, and I love sharing them with as many people as I can.
I'm also the bestselling, award winning, internationally acclaimed author of over sixty titles and counting. I write speculative fiction in multiple subgenres of romance and fantasy, contemporary fiction, books for both teens and adults, and just about anything else I feel like writing. I really enjoyed Arthur. There are new twists about some of the characters that I didn't know from the previous books. The ending was a real shock, I just hope that Arthur can get Aveline out safely, and that everything works out as they planned. Cannot wait to read Black Wolf to find out what happens next. I would recommend this book to others.
Things really start to heat up, but also slow down. Somewhere in the midst of all that is going on, Aveline and Tiana both turn 18 and come into their legacies. For Aveline, it is a complete shock, and not exactly welcome. Perhaps she should not have been so quick to dismiss learning more about her mother's people? I have to admit that I've come to like her more though. Although she hasn't given up on her vendetta, she hasn't let it control ALL of her actions. As for Tiana, used to being ignore or abused her whole life, she now becomes the focus of everyone around her, but again, not in the best way possible. Naive and too trusting, she'll come to a very rude awakening that I hope helps her become stronger. And poor Arthur. I think learning his faith was more disturbing to someone who always felt like he was the safest of them all. Definitely a few twists throughout the series I wasn't expecting, and still more to come it seems.
Aveline now realizes just how much her father kept from her, and exactly what she is facing with her assassination assignment. The odds are clearly not in her favor, but true to form, she is still trying to protect those around her and it just may cost her more than she thought. I think Arthur is the one I truly hope brings them all together. He hasn't figured it all out, but he is determined to do the right thing and protect his family and friends too.
This is definitely one of those series that is engaging, but can be a little slow when setting the scene. There is a lot going on and trying to wrap my head around the different characters and their agendas while trying to predict what will happen next makes reading a little slower.
This book picks up right where the last left off, Arthur and Tiana have been separated again, both Tiana and Aveline are beginning to realise the extent of their powers, but are also separated soon after and Arthur is starting to see the bigger picture and why his sister is so important. Revelations are made all around and more secrets revealed. The more i read about these characters, the more i like them, even Black Wolf is a complex 'villain' This book is just as engaging as the previous two but is definitely a set up for the final book and the battle ahead. I am looking forward to the finale and finding out just how everything ends and if the Hanover patriarch can finally be defeated.
Arthur by Lizzy Ford is super busy. There is so much going on here, with so many characters, it is difficult to keep up. I has been a while since I read book 2, but I did not have any trouble falling back into the story and the characters, but it really jumps around a lot. And the characters change (grow?) from chapter to chapter. It is terrific, but pay attention. Naturally, it ends in a cliffy, so on to book 4.
I haved loved this whole series so far. Love the characters and the exciting twists and turns. Can't wait to read the next book! Great work Lizzy Ford!
Book 3 picks up right where book 2 left off. You find out a lot more about the Arthur and Tinana Father in this book, (FYI He is a nut) and about family history. I am really enjoying this series. The magic is coming out and everyone is learning to use their power. I felt like this one jumped around a lot between all the characters. I felt like once you started learning about one it moved to the next (so you’re never getting the full story.) Lizzy does amazing job of making you love and hate people in this book. This series has me hooked and waiting for the next one is taking forever.
