A novel of the 1970's BBC TV series this is an absolute cracker of a book.
It engages you right from the first page and doesn't let you go to the end - and then leaves you hanging in suspense for book #2.
Books based on movies and TV series are not often that well written, but this is brilliant and I am looking forward to reading book #2

Part one of a trilogy that an English friend loaned me...takes place in Gallowshield England where the author goes into wonderful, easy reading detail about the coal mining people and their tribulations after "The Great War". I wish all authors would develop their characters like James Mitchell does.

When the boat comes in.

Bought this book when I was on a holiday, on the basis of it's Name & Short Description written on the back side of the book.

Story is set after 1st World War i.e.in 1920 in England.

Nothing much to say. But the characters like Jack Ford, Dolly, Jessie will be liked and there are few others like Matt Headly & Tom Seaton.

Go read it once.
