Nations have long memories and Walter S. Jones helps readers to see that events of the past that may not even be remember by the majority of citizens of one state can be very influential in another state. Jones takes the major players on the international scene and describes how they view one another through historical interactions. He then takes the realities of each state and filters them through the general topics of international interactions. An excellent book.
