SHE provides women with a fresh and unique perspective on many of the hot issues women face today. Twenty-something single recording artist Rebecca St. James teams up with forty-something radio talk show host and mother of three Lynda Hunter Bjorklund to present a multigenerational look at why women feel out of control and vulnerable. SHE helps women understand how they can be safe, healthy, and empowered as they find their identity and security in God.
Rebecca St. James, an Australian-born Christian recording artist, is both a Grammy Award winner and a multiple Dove Award recipient. She is also the bestselling author of Wait for Me, SHE Teen, and What is He Thinking. In addition, St. James has appeared in the film Sarah's Choice and lent her voice to VeggieTales' An Easter Story. www.rsjames.com
I did not like this book. I felt it was too preachy, at time unrealistic and put way too much of a burden on women regarding men's sexual sins. It went way too anti-feminist, I am a fairly conservative Christian, raised in a conservative Christian (southern baptist) family and still felt this book was too conservative and to be called SHE...slightly anti-woman. Not one of my favorite Christian non fiction books...If you are a Christian woman look to Hidden Joy by Wendy Blight, Do you think I'm beautiful or anything by Liz Curtis Higgs. This book also seemed to be written on a fairly low level..
What a great book. I really appreciated the chapter on purpose, and the journaling section where you can review your history, gifts and interests to determine God's individual and unique plan for your life. We need more books like this for women's spiritual growth.
This book is a lot better than I thought it would be. I read it with a group of women from church and it was a lot of fun to talk about with other women. There was a lot of good information in the book too.
Nothing really new; occasionally simplistic (for example, with almost every mention of feminism). Yet on the whole, a book which could really be the catalyst for radical change in a woman's life, if taken seriously and thoughtfully.
I enjoyed this book although there are some sections with which I do not agree. The concept of a woman being Safe, Healthy and Empowered (SHE) is awesome!!
