Forsaken Hearts (Dead Hearts)

Rate this book
Forsaken Hearts, the second book in the Dead Hearts series, picks up where Morbid Hearts left off, a few weeks after the pivotal battle at Pike's Peak. Makeshift settlements under the authority of the Freedom Army provide refuge for the survivors of the worldwide "Scourge" that has destroyed all known civilization and has turned most of the human population into zombies. Quasi-military teen patrols are assembled to guard the camps' perimeters from scavengers and those infected with the ever-mutating H1N1z virus. Cadence and her Fighting Tigers, one of the top teen patrols, are working to maintain the fragile peace at the survivors encampment at Seven Falls, but tensions are rising. Dissent within the ranks splits the camp into factions, which is only in the best interest of the new vampire menace that has emerged in Colorado Springs...

I really liked the first book in this series, Morbid Hearts. But I actually LOVED this book more and read it from cover to cover in two days. Compelling story, developed characters, twists and turns in the many plots. The vampires have run into the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs they're demons at fighting. The story is suspenseful, action packed, and will keep you guessing in a good way.

Never ending excitement

I read book 1 of the series a few years ago and the story was so memorable that I was able to jump right into book 2 and connect the characters. There is a constant level of excitement and suspense as the fight goes on to secure the area from the spread of the Zombie apocalypse and now there are several other species to deal with.
I like the quirky personalities of the characters and the writing is excellent with a free flow.
