Broken Trilogy #1-3

Broken Trilogy: Books 1-3

Rate this book
My name is Savannah Miller. My father is the mayor of New York. One day after my twenty-seventh birthday I was grabbed from behind. A cloth sack was quickly pulled over my head, and I was taken from everything I'd ever known. I was beaten, starved, treated like an animal, and forced to live in a room with no windows. With no sense of time and no dignity left I finally gave up hope and made a promise to myself to end it all. Unfortunately, it was going to be a slow process. All three books now bundle together in one incredible collection! Broken - Book #1 Shattered - Book #2 Mended - Book #3

Broken 4 Stars - There are triggers in this book
The Broken trilogy begins when we meet Savannah, being held prisoner and tortured and she has no idea why. In comes Cole to the rescue.

I will admit, I am team Trigger from Devils Reach, so I held off for a long time reading this series because I didn't know how anything could compare to Devils Reach... my benchmark for all MC books now. I know it sounds stupid but I felt like I had put that book on such a pedestal that nothing Ms. Drake would write could compare to it. I am so glad I finally broke down and gave Broken a try.

Savannah, the daughter of NY's mayor, has been through hell, but she doesn't turn into a TSTL heroine and doesn't instantly fall at her rescuers feet. Cole is alpha and leader of the special forces unit that is sent in to rescue Savannah. He strongly feels a sense of duty and doesn't want to cross lines, but there is chemistry between these two characters.

In this book we get to meet the entire cast of characters, and what characters they are, from the funny Mark to the ever quiet Mike, to Keith...oh Keith. There are twists and turns, heartache, and humor but mostly you will be on the edge of your seat. It is a wonderful romantic suspense book. Good story, great characters and thank goodness I read this once all the books were out or I would have lost it....this has one doozy of a cliffhanger.

Shattered: 4 Stars - Triggers in this book
This book picks up right where we left off in Broken. The twists and turns keep coming, but the title nailed it because this book will leave you Shattered.

Our fave characters from the first book are in this book and the hits keep coming for Cole and Savannah. Savannah is learning that maybe she can't trust everyone. This book is filled with suspense, humor (thank you Mark), and the romance is kicked up a notch too. But everything is coming to a head. Once again, thank goodness all the books have been released or I would have lost my head waiting for the last final book.

This is a great series that will challenge your comfort zone while giving you great characters that you just want to wrap up in warm hugs. I definitely recommend this book/series.

Mended: 5 Stars
Finally, we get to the end of Savannah and Cole's tale. What a ride it has been. Holy cow I didn't see a lot twists and turns coming but that is what kept me engaged. I truly became emotionally attached to all the characters by the end of this series (not just Trigger anymore). And I honestly can't wait to read all the characters stories, Mark, Keith, Mike...

Savannah and Cole's journey has been rough, filled with betrayal, loss and heartache. But, in the end they do get their HEA. I got the answers I needed, and I was satisfied with how everything turned out. I am one happy reader! So I just have one last thing to say, do not wait to start reading this series, just pick it up and fall in love with these characters like the rest of us.

Well OK then. Just raced through the Broken Trilogy. I’m pretty sure I lost many hours of sleep because I couldn’t put it down. Box sets are the best thing ever invented. I am not one to reach for a story that Isn’t mafia or MC related but I’m pretty sure this changed my mind. J. L. Drake has a literally blown my mind. I am so glad I found her work. Now I did read them out of order because there is a certain order. However it has not ruined it for me. Let’s get into this.

Savannah comes from a world where she cannot hide. Being in the public eye she is known by many. But politics is a tricky game. In this world lies and deception are around every corner. Taken and held captive for months. She can’t take it anymore. Towards the end of her sanity she’s rescued by a special forces team that lurks in the “shadows”. This group of men know all and see all. When given the choice of staying with them or going back to her hell she chooses safety. In turn she chose a group of men that are slowly becoming her family. Finding out why she was taken in the first place is hard to swallow but her new family and their leader will help her through it all.

Cole Is the head of a special forces team hidden in the mountains of Montana. His team is the one you call when you need to find someone and deal with dangerous people. He lives for his job and he does it flawlessly. Savannah’s rescue was like any other. Saving a woman from the Mexican cartel is just another Tuesday. When she is brought back to the secluded compound and starts into the routine like every other rescued captive, Cole notices something different. He is drawn to her unlike any other case he has dealt with. Not only has she snuck into his heart but also the hearts of his team. Cole is determined to take care of the ones who wronged her. While doing his best to keep her hidden and safe. Only thing is she is stubborn as hell and hard to keep quiet. This case is starting to turn out a lot different than the others.

This series had me wrecked. It was nail bitting for sure. I screamed on more than one occasion. JL Drake got me over here needing a cardiologist. Savanna and Cole‘s story literally is unlike any other I have ever read. It wasn’t too slow or just wanted things to happen already. It was well paced. I have to say some captive stories are drawn out and I can’t stand it. However this trilogy didn’t rush things I also didn’t drag it out. I really appreciate that. Now that I am back on track in the reading order. I’m on to The Blackstone series. And I can’t wait. Safe to say I’m addicted to this author in her work. And I’m excited for what’s ahead in this long intertwined story. Pick it up and join me if you haven’t yet. If you have... Hold up!! I’m in my way 😏

I loved these books!!!

Book 1: I have been in a book funk and just wanted something to draw me in. I’ve had this book for a while and decided to dive in. Man, am I glad I did. I loved it. It was very well written. The storyline was interesting. I loved all the characters. I normally do not love books that take a long time for the main characters to get together but it did not bother me one bit in this book. I loved the progression of Savi and Cole’s relationship. I loved reading about Savi’s journey to heal. I love that things were not predictable. It all kept me interested throughout. That ending was crazy! I’m so glad I can skip right to the next one.
Book 2: I really enjoyed this book. Again, I love the characters. The writing is great and the storyline continues to be really good. The situation with The American is still going on and makes for a very edge of your seat read. Savi finds out the truth behind who started all the kidnapping mess. The only thing that bothered me was Cole not telling Savi what was going on and then letting her remain in NY to see her father. WHAT DID HE THINK WOULD HAPPEN?!?! Exactly what did! The ending made my heart hurt. The way Cole acted when Savi told him about her plans. He hurt her and my feelings hurt for her. Looking forward to the next book.
Book 3: What a great read! So everything comes to head in this final book in Cole and Savannah’s trilogy. I loved every bit of it and I love these two. Their story was so good and the characters, all of them, were fantastic. We sill got a little suspense but lost of it was about cleaning up loose ends of Savannah’s past and healing. I really hope, if it isn’t already out there, that Mark, Keith and Mike get books. I think JL Drake could write them great stories.

Rollercoaster of emotions! 5 stars!

My heart pounded as I read this book... The writer leaves nothing out. I was terrified, sad, happy - I felt everything as if I was right there. The characters are very well developed; you feel a close connection with each of them. Amazing is an understatement. This is a must-read Trilogy. It's definitely one I'll be reading again.

This trilogy was recommended to me as J.L. Drake is a new author. Took a while to finish. Not hard to read for me pretty simple and easy to understand. There was action, mystery, suspense and drama. Lots of betrayal from people you trusted. It was a bit draggy in parts for me with some unnecessary stuff but I guess that keeps it going. Biggest issue for me, the PoV changing and flash backs. Maybe how it was formatted? I like the Blackstone guys friendships it would be interesting to see that more for me. It was ok overall but maybe I glazed over stuff since I fast forwarded some. Yes I'm still not into trilogies. Curious about the secondary characters though.

Loved, loved, loved this series!!! Honestly, one of the best I've ever read. I don't usually finish a book with the need of re reading, but that's exactly how I felt after reading this series. And I'm so glad to find out that there is a Blackstone series, because, honestly, I can't let go. This series has so much raw emotion, twists and turns that the best way to read it is continuously.
Broken (Broken Trilogy, Book1)
Completely loved it!!! Got hooked on the first few minutes of anguish and suspense and couldn't put it down afterwards. Very descriptive and well developed plot. It's very easy to get lost in the story and picture every scene and feeling. Savannah and Cole are very likeable and enjoyable characters, really fell in love with not only with them but also with the other characters that interacted throughout. Loved all the twists, turns and even the little heartaches.
Shattered (Broken Trilogy, Book 2)
After the ugly cry I ended up with in Broken, the first chapter of Shattered definitely was a huge relief. But the relief didn't last long. This book has you in such an emotional high throughout that the tears will find their way soon enough. Love Cole and Savannah's love, heat and relationship. But above all, I loved that the Shadows crew was such a huge part of the story again. Very well written, the suspense will have you on the edge with every twist and turn that has been creatively inserted in the plot, but this love story is so far from complete.
Mended (Broken Trilogy, Book 3)
This series just keeps getting better and better!!! Although this final book in Savannah and Cole's story is a little different from the others, it's still full of emotion and twists that have the reader on an edge. Once again, the previous book will leave you hyperventilating and with such a high that starting this one immediately is a must. Now that the immediate threat has been taken care of, it's time for Savannah to rebuild her life. A misunderstanding will cause her and Cole (and the reader) a great anguish, but at the same time relationships will be strengthened and new ones will be built. Loved that this book centers more on healing and how she developed other relationships. Also, there is a different side of Cole, more alpha male, that definitely make some interesting scenes throughout the book.

Savannah, the daughter of the Mayer of New York, has been kidnapped from her family, friends, and job by a dangerous Mexican Cartel and a man who is even eviler. When she is about to give up after the torture and abuse, she is rescued by a team highly elite team of former military specialists called on in special cases. They take her to their safe house that is home base and home. The guys are a tight-knit group of loyal brothers and with a house-mom to keep them in line.

The whole team is wonderful--well--almost the whole team. Savannah takes time to recover but she is not safe. Will she stay on or risk being captured again? There is more than safety to consider. Most of the guys are more big brothers. At least they are when they realize the boss is interested. The Strict rule follower can't get her out of his mind. Is she ready for a man in her life?

Their relationship spans the full trio of books with her broken status. She begins to live again, makes friends with most of the guys who are a riot together. There is plenty of comic relief with this team to break up the danger and intrigue.

I loved their relationship even with the ups and downs. Savannah is a strong woman and she'll need that strength to make it through this painful time in her life. A man to love, men to friend and a history to live through. Can she do it and come out happy and whole?

Expect steam, pain, friendship, loyalty, and betrayal. The characters are unforgettable and ones the reader will become invested in throughout all three parts. I strongly recommend this and the rest of the series of team members getting theirs (in the best way).

I was very surprise about this trilogy. The reviews did not helped a lot, mostly very positive or very negative. I was looking for something entertaining, not too much blood, or too sex or too obvious love story and I have to say, this was quite the good match. I says quite because:

- the plot is interesting but at a certain point too obvious.
- The main characters could have been developed more, especially Cole.
- very good "thriller" plot with Savannah past and present story but she do not develop so much in the 3 books.
- sex description ok, a bit less would be better
- lack of other characters physical descriptions. You have to figure it out by yourself how people look like...
- some narrative mistake which should have been edited by the editor let you a bit confuse.

In a postive note, I found the reading good. The author know how to keep the reader addicted to the book with nice characters, story, details action scene and internal reflections of main characters.

I recommend this trilogy to those who are not asking too much from a book but would like to read a nice love story with a very interesting thriller background.

Great Trilogy to dive into! Overall my rating would be a 4.25 for the entire series.

Broken #1
I've done it...finally popped my J.L. Drake cherry.
My goodness what a ride this book took me on.
If ever there was a trilogy that I am so thankful for waiting until all books are published, this one takes the cake! The ending has me diving right into book 2. Kudos to all who read this book when it first released and survived this heck of a cliffy!!
4.5 nail biting stars!!

Shattered #2
Shattered...what a perfect title for this book

How can someone possibly overcome all that has happened?

Can not wait to see how this pans out. Off to start book 3 now.

Mended #3
Well my goodness, what a ride this trilogy took me on! Savannah and Cole sure did have to work for what they deserved in life.

It wasn't a simple job. When the job was complete, this was when the real story started. All it took was a photograph... All it took was those eyes...

This is Savannah and Cole's story. The perfect ending!

“I look and feel nothing like my old self. I am someone else now, and I have no idea who that is. I feel completely lost.”

This series will have you on the edge of your seat. Wondering who to trust. There are so many twist and turns.

“It’s like someone got inside my head, found my deepest desire, and created you.”

My heart would flutter and the next full out pound from one moment to the next as I was taken on a twisted ride with this series.

“Stop worrying about what you should be feeling and just feel. Life is too short to float, so sink a little and start living.”

As you get deeper in the series you fall more in love with the characters. You’ll admire the loyalty, be disgusted with the betrayal and fear the enemy and finally melt with the romantic moments.

“I’m scared.”
“I’ve fallen for you,
Please catch me.”

Freaking Awesome Series!!!

I had been meaning to read this series for a while now but other releases kept me from doing it and it wasn't until I saw on FB that they were going to a reading that I jumped to it.

Freaking Awesome doesn't even cover it really. It was so much more than I expected and I loved it. Everything about it. The characters, all of them, the twist and turns, the banter, the emotions, oh my gosh, just everything I loved.

I loved Savannah. Her character was the right amount of sas and stubborn. Her with Cole was just magic. They were great together. Can see why Tess loved this group of people when she met them in her series.

JL Drake has yet again surpassed my expectations and now I need to read the Blackstone series. Oh what a chore that will be. NOT!!! Lol

Full 4 stars for book 1 of this trilogy. I really enjoyed it. Suspense, some action, romance, a little heartbreak. Very enjoyable and ended on a cliffhanger.

Book 2 was 3 stars. Not as good as book 1, and I thought it was annoying that major plot points were caused by lies. It reminded me of a soap opera. Too much drama for drama's sake and not to advance the story. Not as much action or romance in book 2. Sort of ends in a relationship cliffie.

Book 3. 2 stars. Kinda boring. Too contemporary for me to really enjoy. Not enough action, suspence or romance.

Gross fact: The word 'vomit' is used 14 times in this trilogy. 'Bile' is used 3 times. 'Retch' is used 4 times. 'Heave' is used 5 times. 'Puke' is used 4 times. All as a synonym for vomit. While a little sickness can add to a story, this theme gets old when used too much.

This series gutted me. My heart broke for Savannah, to have been abducted for months and treated like a dog because of who your father was just killed me. It shattered me when she lost the love of her life and her unborn child, but it mended when she over came it all and was able to move on.

I have had this series on my kindle for quite some time, and just never got around to reading it. I wish I would have read it sooner. This was my first taste into J.L. Drake's world and needless to say I want more. This was a great trilogy, and I hope we see more from the men of Blackstone. They are all equally fascinating and they all deserve a story.

I'm sad that Savannah and Cole's story came to an end, but knowing they did get their HEA made the tears I had reading this worth while.

Wow! This was a great trilogy that left me feeling every emotion possible. I never knew that a book can do that to you. There may be a lot of romance in this trilogy but it goes beyond that to me. The author makes you feel so connected to the characters, that you can't put the book down. You will find yourself constantly saying just one more chapter, till you find yourself at the end of the book debating whether you start the next one or give yourself a tiny break to grasp all the things that happened. There were plenty of twists throughout the trilogy that kept you guessing. By the end of the 3rd book, you feel complete. This is one trilogy that I have added to my reread list and I can't wait to get started on that list.

I really enjoyed this book with it's different spin on a kidnapping. Savannah's father is a politician. Her mother has passed from cancer and Savannah feels lost. Then she is kidnapped and kept imprisoned in a room with little to eat, in the same clothes she was taken in, rarely allowed to bathe and very poorly treated. And there is a mysterious "American" who refers to her as love. This goes on for six months and she has nearly lost all hope. Then she is rescued and her life changes. Cole is the hero who gets her away and he and his team continue to protect her. My only complaint is that she is kind of whiny and self absorbed at times. If she was less whiny, I would have given this five stars. BTW she really does deserve a lot of tears, but it just got a little old.

Just wow

I don’t even know where to begin.

This series was amazing. I laughed, I cried, I felt every emotion I possibly could with this book.
The story of Savannah and Cole was just amazing and such a breath of fresh air, and I loved reading their story. I sobbed like a baby with their happily ever after, and felt I really didn’t want the story to end. I felt like I knew each character personally, and like finishing this series was a little like saying goodbye.
BUT! Thankfully there’s a spin off series which I fully plan on reading next.

This series is WELL worth the read. I couldn’t put the darn books down and finished all three within two days. Easily put into my top ten favorites!

Could Not Put it Down

Oh my gosh! I have read this trilogy at least 5 times, not to mention the audible version! All I can say is that Broken reels you in and makes you feel everything each character feels, so much so that you feel you are in the story. JL Drake’s writing is brilliant and definitely one of a kind! The books take you on the ride of your life filled with romance, devastation, and twists and turns that make you not want to put the book down! I love the innocence of Savannah, the alpha male in Cole, and the humor in Mark. Not to mention how the book shows the true bond of the military family! I definitely recommend Broken. Everyone should read this book and the trilogy!

Savannah Miller was kidnapped after her 27th birthday and held captive for months before a group of elite soldiers found and rescued her. After Cole Logan pulled Savannah out of hell he promised to find whoever was responsible, but as they navigate through betrayal and secrets to find the truth he can’t help but fall for the sexy, feisty Savannah. Poor Savannah is put through hell and back — a few times, and my heart ached for what she went through. Cole is an absolute dream, the perfect mix of alpha protector and sweet doting boyfriend. The romance is deep, well-paced and woven flawlessly with the suspense and mystery. The characters are realistic and fun and I fell completely in love with this world. This trilogy is everything I’ve been looking for in a protector/military romance.

Very intense ,suspenseful book that had me turning the pages wanting more. Savannah Miller is the daughter to the Mayor of NY. Savannah gets captured and tortured. A group of Army soldiers rescues Savannah but gives her two options. Which Savannah ends up taking option 1 and everything seems like it's finally going better than BAM everything falls apart again. So many lies and secrets and twist and turns. A great series for anyone who loves lots of drama and cringe worthy parts. 4/5 broken stars ****Reviewed for Sweet & Spicy Read provided for a voluntarily Advanced Reader Copy of this book ****

Did you ever want to punch a heroin in the face?

I struggled with this book, I wanted to give up so many times, the stupidity of the heroin was mindblowing, the authors fairytale trying to wrap up like a plausible scenario is laughable, yes every woman knows you can have sex within days of a miscarriage, situations like this is why it got a one star rating, I think maybe the author had a great idea for a book, the bones were there, but it was slapped together and it was aggravating and the most bs out of whack reactions of the h wasn't worth my time, don't waste yours on this book

A wonderful trilogy

I truly enjoyed this story! I fell in love with all of the main characters! It was a well developed cast. The story had a few twists that I totally didn’t see coming. I don’t want to give anything away! I couldn’t give the series 5 stars because there were times when Savannah’s naivety was absolutely annoying! For a safe house full of Green Berets, she “accidentally “ overheard way too much. Maybe that’s the soldier in me that knows the ins and outs of classified military info and knows first hand that certain scenarios in this story would never happen...I was annoyed. However, I couldn’t put it down!

This is was my first time reading J.L Drake and I am blown away by her writing!! I loved everything about this series. I love the all the characters, the storyline and the intense twists! I couldn't stop reading, I'm so tired because I've been staying up late and waking up early to read this.

Cole and Savannah go through so much, from Savannah's kidnapping to dealing with their own relationship issues, and I couldn't get enough if it. A lot things happen in this story and nothing is dragged out or rushed. It's perfectly paced and you feel every heartbreak and sweet and loving moments, alongside the characters.

I am definitely going to be reading the Blackstone series! I'm so excited
