May 21, 2017I requested a copy of this book from Netgalley because of the author’s previous book “Lovely Wild” . That was such a unique book. What I didn’t realize was that I was requesting only one novella in a collection called “Shadows of the Night”. From my 30 seconds of internet research, I learned there may be two other stories included in the book that I did not receive for review.
My review and my rating is for Touched by Passion and only for Touched by Passion. Sadly, this story feels like a set up for the other two and it left me hanging, not the main romance, but all of the woo-woo stuff. I have MANY questions and I hate when that happens. If you purchase the finished book you may not have any of my issues.
Because it’s roughly 100 pages, I’m going to keep most of my words to myself. Things start out fabulously with echoes of an X-Files-like plot. Samantha is a nurse (who may or may not really be a nurse) who is caring for a handsome young man who has special powers. Powers that make others very fearful of him. But she likes him and she doesn’t mind his not so covert touches to her bare skin as she examines him. His arousal kind of her turns her on, truth be told, and she takes her sweet time taking his vitals each day. Well, wouldn’t you?
Anyhow, he was apparently part of cult where all of the children had super powers and he’s spent his life being a guinea pig and is nearing the end of his usefulness to the Powers That Be. Samantha may be the only one willing to save him.
What follows is some action, some scatterings of plot breadcrumbs and a rushed and rather disappointing sexy time but then again, I have been reading a lot of pervy books lately! It all ends rather abruptly, most likely because there are two other connected stories that I was not privy to. As a standalone? It doesn’t entirely work for me so I’m giving it a three.

When I requested this book from Netgalley I thought that I was getting the complete collection of three stories but in fact, I just received TOUCHED BY PASSION by Megan Hart.
TOUCHED BY PASSION is the first book in this compilation and it is where we are introduced to Jed, Persephone, and Samantha, three young people in danger.
Jed has the unique ability to feel what other people are feeling and while he has used it for bad in the past, he wants to change his future. Persephone is unremarkable in real life and nobody pays her much attention, which is exactly what she wants, because Persephone has the ability to shapeshift, and knows she needs to remain in the shadows. When Samantha is sent to help Jed, it will throw them all onto a dangerous path and who knows what may happen...
TOUCHED BY PASSION by Megan Hart is a short, enjoyable, paranormal read and I look forward to reading the next two books.

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!! It's tough to make a series of fast-paced thrillers that holds together the characters and their dimensions, but Ms. Hart delivers! I kept thinking that everything in this bundle deserves to be adapted into real-life action series since it's just THAT visualized for me. Really, really wish that this gets a sequel somehow.

Jed is telepathic. He can feel what others are feeling and can tell when they are alive and when they have died. His powers have been used for bad over the years and he has hurt many people. Over the past couple of years, he has tried to seem as if he is now useless, but how much longer will he be able to get away with his ploy?
Persephone is a shifter. In reality she is short, thin, and not much to look at. However, she can shift her outward appearance into something that someone would be more interested in looking at. She is a maintenance person in her building and she is trying to stay undercover from being discovered.
Samantha has been tasked to assist Jed during his captivity. She does not know who he is or why he is being held captive. All she knows is that when she is given the sign, she will have to work to assist him in his escape.
Will Samantha and team be able to save Jed? Will Persephone be able to stay out of the long reach of her pursuers?
This was such a unique story. Ms. Hart's writing style is in capturing. You not get but one novella but 3 in Touched by Passion. Is this a standalone? maybe, maybe not. there are breadcrumbs that will lead into other books... so you will have to read to find out! Happy reading.
