This is one of the few medical genetics texts on a 2-year revision cycle. It provides up-to-date information that can be read, retained, and applied with ease! The 3rd Edition covers pharmacogenomics, the societal implications of technologies, the Human Genome Project, cloning, genetic enhancement, and embryonic stem cell research, new tumor suppressor genes and oncogenes, and more. Mini-summaries, study questions, suggested readings, and a detailed glossary facilitate review of the material. Clinical relevance is demonstrated in over 230 photographs, illustrations, and tables as well as boxes containing patient/family vignettes. Its coverage includes ethical, legal, and social issues and clinical commentary on important genetic diseases. A companion web site offers continuing updates and a wealth of additional features.
Muy desorganizado a mi gusto, es complicado seguir el hilo de lo que se plantea. La verdad que no lo recomiendo para aquellos que se inician en la materia, o quizá es necesaria una guía docente para poder seguirlo de manera adecuada.
In my opinion it's very desorganized, es hard to follow the ideas. I don't recommend it for begginers, but maybe with some guidance from a teacher, it can get better.
This book has helped answer many questions. For example, if you've ever wondered if you are just overweight or if you have full blown gynecomastia, this book will put your fears to rest. (That is of course unless you do have full blown gynecomastia.)
Fantastic textbook on the concepts of genetics, inheritance, genetic diseases, and genomics set in a clinical context. The illustrations are very effective and the case studies present tangible examples of how to apply the knowledge.
