Ritual Magic in England, 1887 to the Present Day

Rate this book
This is a very rare copy of the first paperback edition of Francis Kings Ritual Magic. The book, while showing signs of being read, is itself in great condition. The material is dense and informative. this would be a great read for the initiated and novice alike as Mr. King was a very active English mystic from the 1940's through the 80's.

I read a hardcover version from the library, never saw this paperback cover. I think it was a poor choice, although it was perhaps not the choice of the author. Most ritual magicians are clothed, while witches (more so when the book was written) preferred to be skyclad (nude) during rituals. In the book, only one very short chapter is dedicated to witches in England. Sensationalism sells, I suppose. Regardless, the book is thoughtful, well annotated and well researched. Contains mostly the histories of the Golden Dawn and the OTO. Worth reading, don't judge by the cover.
