ONE DARK PAST, TWO SCARRED HEARTS…

Reeling from an HIV scare that sent him into retirement, former gay porn star, Drake DeMelo, aka Damien Lovecock, is looking for a fresh start. Wanting to get as far away from his old life in California as possible, Drake packs his car and heads to Cape Cod.

Presley Forrester, day manager of Sand Dollar Shoal, wasn’t expecting to find a handsome man soaked to the skin pounding on his door late one night. With the grand reopening of the hotel fast approaching, Pres needs all the extra hands he can get. He hires the mysterious but handsome man to do odd jobs.

Presley and Drake are undeniably drawn to each other, but as they get closer, Drake keeps his past a secret, not wanting anything to ruin his newfound happiness. When a hotel guest recognizes Drake during the masquerade ball to celebrate the reopening of the hotel, the new life he has built comes crashing down around him.

Will Presley forgive Drake’s deception and accept his past, or will their love be torn out from under them by a vicious riptide?

Sick of the slogging rat-race of her 9-5 job, Pandora Pine put pen to paper (literally!) to make her ambition of becoming a romance novelist a reality. She cut her teeth in the dog-eat-dog world of fanfiction, still dreaming of the day when she would be a published author. She lives in Massachusetts with her blabbermouth muse who’ s a fan of middle of the night plot twists.

In her spare time, Pandora fancies herself an amateur nature photographer. She enjoys mucking around in swamps, hiking through the woods and crawling around on her hands and knees in her backyard seeking out the perfect shot. Pandora is a fan of roadside seafood shacks and always thinks Mexican food is a good idea at the time.

Some of Pandora’s favorite things are chocolate, writing longhand with purple pens and handsome men falling in love with each other.

Don't miss Pandora’s seductive new novel coming soon to an e-reader near you.

I like Drake so much! There's something so wholesome about seeing him bloom under Presley's love. I'm having a hard time putting just how much I like them into words.

Love the story and the characters but man does it need better editing!

So I’m binge reading this series which may be why the continuity errors are so obvious though some are from paragraph to paragraph so anyone would see them. I find it especially ironic given in book one Landon talks about continuity editing! Lots of typos in this one too. I don’t know if the author switched editors or what but I’ve never encountered errors like this in any of her previous work. Just an example from within this book...Drake says he got letter re HIV in December, it says he waits six months, has twelve HIV tests (every two weeks) before he sells everything, leaves California for MA, driving cross country. He arrives weeks before the hotel grand re-opening Memorial Day weekend. In no universe does that math work. There are others, including from book one and this is a huge pet peeve of mine. Might not bother other people as much.

As for this story and these characters...love them, love the story. Presley is not what I was expecting from explanations in book. He seems a bit insecure to me but it still works. Drake is an interesting character and I like the way he comes into his own as a result of the love and friendship of these friends.

Looking forward to the rest of the stories here!

Why did I wait so long to read this!

I don't think I've read a book by Pandora Pine that I didn't love and I surely loved this one. Riptide is book 2 in the Sand Dollar Shoal series but it can be read as a standalone.

I've had this book on my Kindle for about a month and I'm sorry that it took me so long to get to it because it's such a good story. While part of this story was predictable that didn't matter one bit to me because everything else about it kept me captivated from start to finish. The only reason I didn't finish this in one sitting is because I had to get some sleep.

I loved Pandora's On the Radio series and was sad to see it end. I'm so happy that she has given me a whole new group of men to fall in love with in this series. This story made me laugh and cry – my favorite kind! I can't wait to read the next one.

I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited.

Drake is an amazing character

My heart went out to him immediately.. this was my first book with a character that has been in the porn business and Drake's childhood made him that much more special..being raised in foster care with a learning disability is difficult enough.. a line from Drake's foster mom said it all and had me crying.. She didn't need to be fixed. She needed to be loved. That is what makes these books so amazing, the characters are relatable and you just want to pull them off the pages and hug them.. and my heart actually broke for him during this book... so have Kleenex ready because you will need some

OK, too cliche, but need to read it for the series

Did I finish this book? Yes. Will I read it again? No. Do I recommend it? Yes, but with reservations. Read it as part of the series. I'm halfway through book 3 as I write this and loving book3. Read it to experience the awesome bond of friendship of these four men. The best part for me is the dialogue by Gregor about judging people by their pasts.

SPOILER BELOW

No condom: ok, it had to happen for the story, but could have been done better. Why did D trust he himself would be safe? And, no lube? No way, not the way a certain thing was described.

Wow, way to spread dangerous misinformation about HIV, as well as reinforcing stigma around HIV and sex work. I mean, seriously, did the author do any research from the 21st century, or did she just dredge up memories from the 80s and think they were still relevant today? Did she bother to actually talk to anyone who worked in the porn industry when she decided to make her main character an ex-porn star, or did she just go with a bunch of stereotypes because she was too lazy to do any actual work? (Considering the laziness of her continuity and repetitive phrasing throughout all her books, I shouldn't be surprised by this.)

Great series

Seeing Drake get what he's been looking for his whole life is great.
I started with the Psychic and cop books first and read about Sand Dollar Shoal in there, then found out its a series. I may have done it backwards but it works for me, now it is get to go back and see how it began.

So good

I hunk I liked this one more than the first if that’s possible. I really enjoyed the Presley and Drake’s story and the complete interaction of the rest of the gang...Landon and Noble, Gregor and Griff. There was laughter, heat and a tiny bit of angst

Presley and the other 'brothers' are awful, judgemental dicks! Drake should have just left Sand Dollar Shoal and told them to stuff their job.
