Chloe and her two children were rescued five years ago by Nugget Nate and Penny. Since then they’d lived at Nate’s mission for troubled women called Sanctuary Place. Now, with Sanctuary House ready she, and several other rehabilitated women, are moving to Stones Creek, Colorado to find a loving husband. When a person from her past is revealed she worries that her new start might be over for good. She just wants to find a Sanctuary where she and her children can feel loved, wanted, and useful. Can Stones Creek be that place or will she once again be cast aside? Will the men who abandoned her five years ago ruin her chance at a Happy Ever After? Or will she find Sanctuary in the arms of the local blacksmith?
McIlroy has a secret. He lost a wife and family to evil people during the war. He want’s nothing to do with any of the women at Sanctuary House, or so he tells himself. Yet, he’s drawn to the tall, dark-haired Chloe and her children. Can he learn to forgive himself and allow love into his life again? Or will he push the woman away out of fear and guilt?
Eight women are getting a second chance at Sanctuary House. Will they find it or is the past too strong to overcome? Will they find husbands for themselves and fathers for their children or was Nugget Nate wrong to send them here? Can the past be overcome? Is there really a chance for any of them to find Sanctuary? The answers lie in the pages of Chloe’s Sanctuary.
It is a stand alone book but reading the series in order is recommended. Leah's Peace Chasing Norie Chloe's Choice Chloe's Sanctuary
Sophie Dawson has been making up stories in her head ever since she was a child. She lives with her husband on the family farm in Illinois. Two grown sons, a daughter-in-law and granddaughter round out her immediate family.
Sophie does all kinds of needlework and was a professional machine quilter in the past. She loves to travel, read, garden and now write.
In her books, Sophie shares the wisdom God has taught her in stories of faithful living. Her hope is to demonstrate how acting and reacting the way the Bible teaches can bring a positive impact on her readers.
Title: Chloe's Sanctuary Author: Sophie Dawson Genre: Christian Western Recommended Ages: 16 and up (due to the backgrounds of many of the women. It was handled well and not descriptively, but may not be appropriate for anyone younger than 16).
Introduction: This was the first book by Sophie Dawson I have read. It was definitely an enjoyable read and I will try to find more books to read by her in the near future.
Characters: 1/1 All the characters were well-developed, unique, and easy to differentiate between. Which is good, because there were a lot of them. Sophie did a good job introducing each one so that if you haven't read the first two books in the series, you can easily hop right into the story without feeling like something is missing.
Dialogue: 1/1 As far as I could tell, all the dialogue was period accurate, well written, and unique to each character.
Plot/storyline: .75/1 There were a couple of plot points that were easy to figure out ahead of time, but otherwise it was a good plotline and storyline that made for an entertaining story.
Overall writing quality: .75/1 The writing quality was good. Sophie has a knack for writing a good story and writing it well. She drew me in to the story quickly and kept me interested throughout. I especially loved the part with Duncan, McIlroy, and the gun.
Un-put-down-ability: .75/1 I did put it down a few times due to needing to for various real life reasons, but there were also a few times when I put it down because of slightly more graphic content than I personally prefer to read. It really wasn't bad, just more along the borderline of PG-13 than I would prefer.
Conclusion: 4.25/5 I really liked the book and would love to read more about Chloe, Dunc, Lil-Pen, and all the other Sanctuary ladies. This book was a great Christian Western Romance.
I received a free copy of this book and wrote this review of my own volition.
Having already read one of the three books in the author's Stones Creek collection I had no problem differentiating between many of the ladies, men, and children in this series.
This is not only Chloe's romance but several other sanctuary ladies were highlighted with their own romances. The "warm-fuzzy-feel-good" rating on this story was sky-high. The story line shuttled back and forth between the principals so I, the reader, never hit a single dull moment throughout.
The book abounded with many wise Christian principles which drove home the eternal qualities of love, sacrifice, kindness, charity, and hospitality.
The children gifted this story with sentimental humor and their need to be loved, cherished and protected just like their mamas.
If you like a faith-based historical romance, Sophie Dawson has an abundance of joyful reading for you.
This was such a good book by Sophie. Her books just never let you down and the ones I have read they have action with a sprinkle of romance. Sophie hit a home run with this one!
When I started this book , I had no intention of seeing the early DAWN peep through the window before I put it down. However, that is exactly what happened. I could not stop reading. I could not turn the pages quickly enough. So, when I had consumed the last word on the last page, I sighed, wanting more. This book is well written e the characters are portrayed so realistically you feel they are your friends. I felt anger on their part, hope and hopelessness, joy, sadness - the entire range of emotions. To read this book, is to find yourself immersed in that time and place. I encourage the reading of this book to anyone who loves a great escape.
This is mainly about the blacksmith, Mcllroy and Chloe, the sister of the preacher. They both have very horrid me experience In their back grounds and were having a hard time overcoming them. But it is about several of the other women and their experiences as well. All have good times, humorous times, exciting and suspenseful times too, but will those ladies in this part of their story find love and their happily ever after?
The ladies of Sanctuary House all have pasts. Some come from prostitution, some were abandoned and on the verge of selling their bodies. Several have children. Sanctuary House offers them a chance at a fresh start and a future. Chloe Anderson has no idea that Stones Creek, Colorado would offer her more than a fresh start, it offered a connection with her past if she was willing to trust God to fulfill the deepest dreams of her heart.
I thank Sophie Dawson for her book writing skills. I enjoyed this book and will definitely recommend it to my fellow readers. I love stories about Mother's and children and how and why they became mail order brides. This story fit my reading style all the way and hopefully yours also!!!!!!!
Great book filled not only with romance but awesome kids.
I chose this book because it was free but now I have a new author to follow and I want to read more of her books. I loved how the women all worked together to make a better life for themselves and their children. It was full of great Christian lessons for life.
The Women of Sanctuary Place and Sanctuary House are a group of women who have been rescued from different hardships of various types by a man and his wife who used their large sums of money to build missions for them and their children. They have been given a chance to find husbands and marry. Would they be able to do that?
Good solid story with heroines yiu root for and their suitors. Christian values are there but not pushy so yiu don't feel like you are being preached at while you read.
This author shows Gods forgiveness & that there is no difference in sin. Sin is sin and forgiveness by Him is complete. I enjoyed the comradery of the young women and the acceptance of the town.
Very enjoyable story of God's provision and love for women. Well written love stories of several women and the special men God brings into their lives.
I really liked this book. It's a good, clean romance with the characters being so likeable and easy to relate to. The primary characters are Chloe and McIntyre but other characters appear. I'd recommend this book.
I liked the idea of saving ladies and children from abuse. And then the new town with men that have to be approved to marry them to prevent more abuse. There is also a mixture of a little suspense. As a gang comes into town that one of the ladies know.
I am a real fan of Sophie Dawson's books. I started this one just to "fill a few minutes" and ended up reading the whole book in one sitting. Excellent story with a lot going on in the plot
The more I read Sophie's books the more I enjoy them! This one wasn't the traditional one romance book, but several of the newcomers to town find matches! I hope they get elaborated on in future books, but it was much more realistic this way! An amazing book about being a new creation in Christ and the redemption of sinners who confess and receive forgiveness!
Chloe's Santuary:Christian Historical Romance, Book Three------ I enjoyed reading this book. First one by this author. Will look for others by Ms. Sophie Dawson
This was a good book. The fact that you got more then one couples story was interesting. I also loved how all the children were figured into the story. It was a well written story
