After suffering an assault on the job, veterinarian Sarah Campbell is understandably nervous about being back at work. That doesn’t mean she needs a babysitter. Especially not the distractingly handsome Triple H cowboy her business partners choose for her.
Chase Ford has been in love with Sarah for months. He knows he doesn’t have a chance of winning her heart. Even if she has finally figured out her high society fiancé wasn’t right for her, she’s way out of Chase’s league. But as they bond over her high-stress job, he can’t help his growing feelings for the tough-but-tender vet.
As their unexpected friendship blooms, Sarah starts to wonder if Chase could be more than a friend. But she’s still keeping a secret—a big one—that might just drive him away for good…
Lacy Williams wishes her writing career was more like what you see on Hallmark movies: dreamy brainstorming from a French chateau or a few minutes at the computer in a million-dollar New York City penthouse. In reality, she’s up before the sun, putting words on the page before her kids wake up for the day. Those early-morning and late-night writing sessions add up, and Lacy has published fifty books in almost a decade, first with a big five publisher and then as an indie author. When she needs to refill the well, you can find Lacy birdwatching, gardening, biking with the kiddos, or walking the dog. Decent characterization for a short, this was pretty good for a novella length work. I enjoyed the dual povs and the genuine good guy H. I think the element that really makes these novellas more believable are the time jumps. There's never insta anything, and the MCs always take things slowly, which in turn make the novellas more realistic.
This was my least favorite of the whole series. I felt like I couldn't really relate to Sarah, I wanted to but... I felt from an outsiders view that she really should have know better with James. I also felt almost no chemistry between her and Chase.
8. Book 8: Stealing Sarah: 4 stars I purchased a copy of the novella Stealing Sarah: Sarah and Chase in the Cowboy Fairytales books 1-10 boxset by Lacy Williams and this review was given freely. A tension filled sequel with some violence, the themes of abandonment, foster care and reduced sense of self- worth which are blended with Sarah and Chase’s friends to more romance and, with glimpses into her sister Kayla’s unsettled life. Veterinarian Sarah Campbell’s life is turned upside down when her assistant goes on maternity leave, Sarah suffers a brutal attack, her fiancé breaks up with her on her 30th birthday and, she finds herself attracted to her a former high school friend, Triple-H ranch hand Chase. Contains a suspenseful teaser for the sequel which involves Café Owner and dog rescue hopeful Kayla. 9. Book 9: Keeping Kayla: 4 stars I purchased a copy of the novella Keeping Kayla: Kayla and Nate in the Cowboy Fairytales books 1-10 boxset by Lacy Williams and this review was given freely. A short fast paced story containing wonderful characters and some drama. A rash action at age nineteen comes back to haunt Kayla Campbell but turns out to be a blessing in disguise when she decides to foster ten-year-old orphan Miles. After ten years, a technicality reunites Triple H Foreman Nate O’Malley with his childhood bride, dog rescuing former foster child Kayla Campbell, reinforcing his determination to win her back. . 10. Book 10: Melting Megan: 4 stars I purchased a copy of the novella Melting Megan: Megan and Dan in the Cowboy Fairytales books 1-10 boxset by Lacy Williams and this review was given freely. Interesting characters and a bit of drama. Former Triple H ranch hand and reformed gambler Dan Evans receives early parole, is welcomed back to the ranch, struggles with his sense of self worth and need to pay the Hale’s back while falling in love with single guardian Dr. Megan Fuller.
Chase dropped out of college after his dad had a heart attack. He loves working on a ranch and decides to help Sarah, the local vet, by assisting her answer calls all over the countryside, after she was attacked. Will the sensitive ranch hand catch the pretty vet’s eye?
Sarah and Chase have been friends for awhile. He wants more. Sarah is healing from being beaten and left for dead. Chase is such a sweet guy and helps Sarah in more ways than one. Love how Sarah gets herself back and goes after Chase.
Each book in this series is well written and the characters are it seems one big happy family. I especially like the fact there is no swearing or heavy sexual content. I would recommend these books to anyone who likes good wholesome reading.
This story points out the difference in what Sarah thought love was and what it really is! Great sweet story with heartwarming moments and scary times too. I wish it had taken a bit longer with the ending, seemed a bit rushed. But I love this series! Great reads!
The home town get gets roughed up and robbed and shortly after her no good fiance breaks up with her. She is traumatized and her self confidence badly shaken. But, of course, a handsome cowboy with he own problems comes to the rescue.
The vet is engaged but dumped on her birthday, by phone. He was supposed to be present...at her birthday. She needs a vet tech plus she's not sleeping well & is still too scared to go home. Chase volunteered to help, as a simple cowboy.
Sarah is a veterinarian and is heading out to an early morning call when she's attacked and beaten by 2 men wanting drugs. Chase is a long time friend who is helping her after weeks of hospital stay and recovery. Sarah loves being with animals but is not adjusting well to life after attack
This was a fantastic Contemporary Christian fiction book. The story was believable and the characters were heartwarming. I was able to read a copy of this book via Overdrive, but it did not in any way affect my review. All opinions are my own
I love it when a romance book has the self doubt we all suffer from and finally the reality of love being reciprocated!! So much detail in such a short book! I am loving this audiobook series!!
This is another good book Lacy has written .Chase and Sarah's story is very interesting. You must read this book to see how they work through everything.
Audiobook. Cute novella and continuation of series (in which everyone's parents die at some point which is kinda weird and statistically unlikely but whatever). Available on scribd at the moment.
This one was a favourite. It started with a nail-biting scene, and the relationship started from a friendship and developed over a couple of months, instead of a short and fast courtship.
