Navy SEAL Mike Saunders and his canine sidekick Axe are back in the second installment of the SEAL series. When his SEAL squad embark on an epic bachelor party they manage to find trouble in the backwoods of Oregon. In the face of overwhelming odds it’s an unlikely hero that finds love and steps up to save the day.
SEAL the Deal is romance meets action in a light-hearted love story with a twist. It is dedicated to the Military Working Dogs who have served, loyal and steadfast, alongside their handlers in the world’s deadliest conflict zones. A percentage of the sale of this book will be donated to a foundation that trains dogs to help servicemen and women who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Jack Silkstone's background includes a career in military intelligence and special operations, working alongside some of the world's most elite units. It’s this unique background that has allowed him to create both the SEAL and PRIMAL series.
I won’t lie, I’m just like every other guy on the planet. I love action movies, first person shooters, fast cars, technology, guns, cool kit and of course beautiful women. I grew up with Dirk Pitt, Jack Ryan, Jason Bourne, Doom, Wolfenstein, Commando Comics, James Bond, Rambo, The Predator and more. As a young man I have embraced Counter Strike, Half-life, The Bourne Series, Top Gear, Call of Duty the list goes on and on. Coupled with my military experience this seething mass of adrenalin-fueled testosterone has evolved into PRIMAL.
MY RATING SYSTEM 5 stars--WOW 4 stars--would read again 3 stars--was good, won't read again 2 stars--read it, but didn't enjoy it 1 star--didn't finish, it was so awful
Do I need to read books before this one: yes Cliffhanger: yes
SUMMARY Mike proposes, Ali says yes. TJ and Leonie plan bachelor and bachelorette parties in Oregon where TJ has a cabin. The ladies do the spa thing, the gentlemen go river rafting. The park rangers, including Jenny who also teaches pole dancing, don't know they have a marijuana plantation in their national forest.
EVALUATION The plot doesn't build suspense throughout as well as the first book did. The jokes between the guys aren't as plentiful, and we don't get much SEAL stuff.
The relationship between Rick and Jenny is completely superficial. The relationship between Mike and Ali doesn't progress. Maria's not worried about Ernie at all. And where's Mrs TJ and Mr Leonie?
I enjoyed riding the rapids, since I'll never do that in real life.
RECOMMENDATION Only for those who want to read all of Mike and Ali's story
FAVORITE QUOTES TJ, “Don’t go too far, it’s easy to get lost out here.” “Yes Gandalf, I won’t wander too far into Mirkwood.” “What the hell are you talking about?” “Lord of the Rings.” “The movie?” “No, the books.” Rick shook his head. “Never mind. OK, I’ll head uphill. At least then I know down is the way back.” “Good plan. You’re full of surprises tonight.” Rick laughed. “Because I know how to avoid getting lost?” “No, I didn’t think you could read. Now go get some wood before this fire burns out.”
POSSIBLE TRIGGERS (SPOILERS) Sex: petting, groping, sex off page Language: 33 F words, 20 Lord's name in vain, 29 S words Violence: assault, threats, gun fights, kidnapping, near drowning, threat of rape
This book like the 1st in this series was great. Filled with action, adventure, laughter. Rick, I thought would take a lot longer to fall from his bachelor ways, but Jenny was time enough for him. A strong, beautiful, and smart woman. Loved that Jenny was well-rounded and would have loved to get more of her bad-ass action into this. Rick, Jenny, and Axe do what is necessary to help TJ and Ernie who has been taken hostage by drug runners. So together they make a great team. Their story doesn't have a lot of romance but it was still a lot of drama, action, humor. Their trust in one another and the connection they have helped them to rescue their friends and ultimately see that they are better together than apart. I've so enjoyed this series (yes, I've already finished book 3) by Mr. Silkstone that I have begone reading the "Primal" series. And so far I've not been disappointed. These stories are making me more of a fan. Thank you!!
SEAL the Deal by Jack Silkstone continues the story of SEAL dog handler, Mike Saunders, his hero dog, Axe, and Mike's new fiancée, Ali. I enjoyed this book as much as the first book. This story has lots of action, from running the rapids to an unexpected rescue mission. Yet, it is not the classic SEAL mission. SEAL the Deal takes place entirely in a relaxed, outdoor vacation setting. Silkstone's SEAL team always seems to find themselves in sticky situations. This time, the trouble has a movie, "Deliverance" vibe. Despite the danger, many humorous antics had me giggling. Rick, the "Playboy" of the SEAL team, would definitely not make it as an Eagle Scout!
I found SEAL the Deal to be an entertaining, easy-to-read book. I love the military aspects of this series and look forward to starting the third book in the series.
I gave the first book in this series a "generous" 2-star rating for a Thriller/Military/SpecOps type book. And this, book 2 in the 3 book series, is even worse. I started this series after finishing Silkstone's Primal series. What a disappointment! This is absolute tripe. I couldn't even finish it.
Maybe the rating would be higher as a Rom/Com, but I can't judge as I don't read those - and it's not what I read Silkstone for. The first 29 pages are almost all devoted to a marriage proposal and wedding planning [and the sex life of Mike and Ali]. I suppose that's why the vast majority of the 4 and 5-star rating reviews are from women. Want books of the Thriller/SpecOps/Spy/Military genre? SKIP THIS SERIES! 🤮
Really enjoyed the second book in the series, but agree with another reviewer that the story was lighter than the first one. There was less fleshing out of characters and it was a fast read. But once again, the plot was pretty believable and the team members for real, not these amazing superheroes that so many romance writers make them out to be. As Jack put it, this falls more in the romance-ish category because the interaction between Jenny and Rick was not as front and center as the romance between Mike and Ali. And once again, the best part of the story, Axe saves the day! I'm looking forward to the third book in the trilogy. And now I will definitely check out the Primal series.
Jack Silverstone has done it again with not a few SURPRISES and also STYLE. The team were told No Bachelor or Batchelorette parties but they can't help themselves. Unfortunately the guys run into some trouble they definitely couldn't have planned for. This is the second book in the set and l just can't wait to see what happens in book 3. Lol Highly Recommend this book and this Author to Anyone who wants Action, Romance, Comedy and So Much More. It's seriously one of Those Sets you can't put down and most of the time........ Well you get the idea. Lol
This book follows Mike and Ali getting married and the pitfalls of what can go wrong when its time for the wedding. One of the team is Rick, and if we are lucky, he just fell in love with a pole dancer teacher/ranger. And yes, there is a story behind the pole dancer teacher. When Rick ordered up a girl for the guys, turns out she wasn't the kind of girl he thought she would be. She taught the guys how to dance on a pole. With no clothes being removed. And she is a Park Ranger! Jenny is important in this book! Read the first book so you know who Mike and Ali are, and you get to meet the team! Ace is the best attack dog in this book!
2nd book in what I understand to be a trilogy was very hard to put down. Enjoyable read and the genre is expanding to now include romance(ish) stories of the beloved SEAL team.
I felt the first in the series "SEAL of Approval" was a little more intense as well as funny. I love Jack's work and will normally give high ratings because of his talent. This book, albeit enjoyable, could have been fleshed out a bit more with the story more developed and characters becoming more rounded. That being said I still recommend.
In a slight change from the first book, this one put most of the focus on the action rather than the developing relationship. There’s quite a lot about this story that makes me think of Broken Arrow, short of the missing nuclear weapons, at least. Uber-competent girl park ranger? Check. Cocky military man in over his head? Check. Presumed ally turned enemy? Well, if I said much more I’d be getting into spoiler territory, but you get my drift. Rick and Jenny’s story was a lot of fun to read, and it wouldn’t have been nearly the same story without the inimitable Axe.
Mike has proposed and Ali said yes. They have planned a quiet wedding for friends and family. No bachelor or bachelorette parties, but the team and Ali's sister have a different ideal. One week before the wedding they all go to Oregon for a retreat. Ali and Mike are staying at a spa and the rest of the guys are at it's family cabin. Ali's sister and a few other women join her at spa. Everything is going fine until the rafting trip the guys take Mike on makes a dangerous change in there plans.
This book was fast paced. It started a little slow with wedding planning. A little simplistic take on wedding planning. But once things started to go wrong, it was page turning seeing how the guys were going to get out of trouble.
The romance between Rick and Jenny was a little quick. Not enough build there. Though it was nice to see Rick tamed.
Loved Axe - the hero of this books too. Saving the day multiple times.

This was a fantastic action adventure trip that was perfect for these SEAL's and their families and friends, until it wasn't. Lol! It was a hilarious, outrageous, and intriguing story that ended with our favorite K9 being a Hero once again. It's a definite must read book and series! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
Mike and Ali are planned their wedding. The Seals gave them a weekend away before the wedding day. They secretly planned a bachealor party and the girls planned a bachelorette party while they were there. Things go awry when they guys go whitewater rafting and are thrown off near a drug dealer's plantation. Lots of suspense in this one and Ali and Axe have to come to their rescue.
This story follows the first book and to my serprize I can not put it down so now I have phone more to read if it is as good as these ones then Thankyou for you take us on the journey with the baby deals .I would like to say thank you for all your hard work and may fortune smile 😃on you always 😁from a bookworm that loves to read
I really enjoyed the second book in this series watching Mike and Ali finally get to their wedding day with all the twists and turns with their Seal Team family. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series to see how much trouble these folks get into. I'll definitely recommend this book to everyone.
I loved this book. It was easy to read and so entertaining! I love all the characters including the warrior dog. The suspense and action and romance were all great. This is the 2nd book in the series and I can't wait for the 3rd one.
This book was even more exciting than the first. Who knew that a bachelor party could turn into a major drug bust? All the characters were back, along with a new one, Jenny. It's a quick read because you just keep turning pages to find out what happens next.
I love reading books about military men, dogs, and the women who love them. This is a great read! It keeps you on the edge of you seat at times. I recommend this book to everyone! Can't wait for the next one!
I loved reading the series I just couldn't put it down. I like the military facts and the fun the guys have together as brothers in arms. I making my sister read it as I loved Axe and she will too. Not all women as sissies Jack did a great job on conveying that.
I really enjoyed this book. It was just as good ad the first. Jack has created interesting characters that you come to care about. The storyline holds your interesting with great action and romance.
Loved the first two books. This one like the last is filled with action adventure humor and romance. What else could a girl ask for? Keep going Jack, the series is great.
I just found this series the other day and I am binging! I was disappointed he stopped at three. There has to be more happening with these SEALS. Here's hoping there's more to come. I will check out his other books.
What ever happened to Dean, Mike's brother and supposed best man? Last I heard from him was from the cage, but he didn't seem to appear in the rest of the story or the wedding. These details bother me .... It's the reason for the 4 star rating.
The story of Rick and Jenny didn't really hook me up, but I liked reading about Mike, Ali and Axe again. And the whole SEAL team, tbh. They're hilarious. The story was packed with adventures so there wasn't one dull moment.
Silkstone has combined action and romance in a most successful manner. His female characters are not simpering women needing rescue, but are well suited to the male characters.
“TJ, that ankle’s not looking good,” Rick said as they rested. He had removed his life vest and rolled his wetsuit down to his hips. His helmet now hung from his backpack. They’d been on the move for an hour, but had made little progress.
The first book introduced the characters while the second built on their team dynamic. The setting was picturesque. It was an original interesting plot. Glad I purchased the second book. It was a good buy.
I absolutely love the military, dogs, action, and romance, so this series is ringing all the bells for me. Toss in the humor, and I am one very happy reader. I'm not sure if book 1 or 2 is my favorite this far, but I am anxious to read book 3.
Enjoyable characters and storyline in this series. Axe steals the book, as he is truly the hero in these stories! Looking forward to reading next book in this series.
